Well it did happend in TFT. Some map maker rigged maps since he thought tha games were too imba or something. Dont remember all the details about it.

1) Star.Werra on BlueRose

- Eventually a regame was given on a different map but Star lost and retired
- The bug in the upgrade was due to a "glitch" and was not done intentionally
2) Freedom.WeRRa vs ReX.Romeo
- Freedom.WeRRa lost his semi final match to ReX.Romeo
- After that game, Dayfly and Moon decided to study the VODs when both of them noticed that Orc seemed exceptionally strong
- Suspecting something amiss Dayfly decided to get hold of the map and got his friend who was a programmer (READ: P-R-O-G-R-A-M-M-E-R) to unravel the code
- They found out that the maps had been intentionally programed to help Orc have an unfair advantage over Night Elf
- Dayfly went public with his findings and an investigation was launched, turns out that the map-maker did it "on purpose without knowledge of MBC Game". The reason was that "he felt a Night Elf vs Night Elf finals would be boring" (the winner of this match was supposed to face Moon)
- Mapmaker admits his mistake and is fired from MBC.

Another interesting "map bug" is the game at blizzcon between yellow and reach where the map allowed the reaver damage upgrade to be researched multiple (maybe infinite?) times. Reach upgraded it 3 times but still lost the game

IIRC it was Mondragon, and he won the game anyway

Itd be good to ask the commentators and progamers what they think of such scandals and if they ever think/worry about them taking place.

k time to put this back on topic.
Lastshadow is a faggot.

DayFly, an Orc, found out that MBC rigged the maps in favor of Orcs and in disfavor of Night Elf to reduce the number of NE players in the 2005 MBC Prime league. Elf wasn't really imba at the time (1.15 was Undead's patch with FoV and Mad[Q]FroG winning everything), but still Spirit_Moon went over the rig and won the damn thing with one of the most dominant televised performance in the history of pro gaming. A 25-0 televised winning streak, against the best of the best, is unheard of.
It was rigged only because Koreans much preffered the Night Elf race. Not because of balance, but because of the appeal it had on Koreans as a whole. 40% of Koreans played Night Elf, mostly because of Jang Jae Ho (Moon), who had the appeal Boxer had on SC players. Just think of how many Terrans there was at the height of Boxer's carrer. And how many Protoss there are at the height of Bisu's career now.
Back to the subject, this scandal, needless to say, killed WC3 in Korea. Freedom (yes, the one in Samsung Khan), who many thought would become the best Human player in a short amount of time, left WC3 for SC in disgust. Luckily China was just starting to play online in 2005, so the game was saved. And Europe is still very strong.
We are lucky it's LastShadow who rigged it and not a professionnal mapmaker paid by MBC, and ordered by MBC to do this.
Let's just say the WC3 population had a lot of respect for DayFly after this, and everybody was saddened when he left for his military service.

I didn't even know you could play on a rigged map... <_<

|
how is it possible that freedom was one of the best progamers in wc3 and now one of the better progamers for sc, is he really a rts genius or something
|
He's one of the better progamers in SC? He's average at best.
|
Freedom's a good SC player, but in pro circles, I doubt he's even top 50.
