In addition to the main tournament, AZUBU and the CSL are now holding a weekly showmatch with featured players from AZUBU Collegiate Champions. The twist? They'll have to play a best-of-seven match against eachother on the HotS beta.
Every Saturday at 6PM EST/3PM PST, tune in to the AZUBU Collegiate Champions stream and watch two players battle it out live on all the new maps using new skills and units. For their trouble, the winner will receive beta keys to give to their team!
Upcoming Match - ? On hiatus until Grand Finals are figured out.
Format is loser picks, can repick a map only after all ladder maps have been played.
If you would like to play on Swarmy Saturdays Email alphaferg@gmail.com and answer the following questions:
- General Info: Name? School? Race? Handle and Character Code (on beta)?
- What is your playstyle, and how is it adapting to the new expansion?
- Why should we pick you to play in a showmatch?
At the beginning of each week, we will pick two players to feature in the upcoming showmatch. Make sure to include relevant storylines - we love to see college rivalries and two aces from rival schools are exactly the kind of showmatches that we want to throw.
If you have no yet been added to the beta, just go to www.cstarleague.com! we are running many different types of contests with beta keys as rewards.

The very first showmatch will be tomorrow, Saturday, December 8th, featuring two of the top players from the 17-1 team last season, UC Davis. Speece is the zergy coordinator there, with his own subreddit, and Tbeezy is one of the top Terran players in the CSL, even managing to take doing EG's Suppy last year in a close CSL matchup!

Too bad that one loss on the season was to Suppy and UC Berkeley

Really excited tournament idea, especially with all the discussion recently about how important a colligate level competition is for the health of our scene.

Looking forward to seeing this and other HotS showmatches! The patch looks so interesting, sure to shake things up. :D

It would be cool if the csl also had an individual league. That way great players on bad teams could still get some recognition and motivation to play. I feel for some of the small schools where the coordinator can only find like 3 people for the team and so they just quit.
Like, maybe each team next season designates their best 2 or 3 players, and they play their own season of individual matches against other individual players, and there could be an individual playoffs as well. Compared to the clusterfuck of team matches this might even be pretty simple.
