Welcome to Season 1 of the Starcraft II Amateur Cup League hosted by SC2Clans.org! (All matches played on NA server) Registration Open until September 1st Week 1 matches begin September 5th
For those of you who don't know, we ran the SC2Clans Team League this summer which was an awesome event. We got to see some of the hottest up and coming teams battle it out for weeks, all being casted by some of the best up and coming casters in the NA semi-pro scene. Now we are ready to switch gears a bit and host an event for the individuals across all the leagues!
Format The league will follow a similar format as our Team League, with players being placed into groups of 8 and playing a round robin; 1 Best of 3 match per week for 7 weeks. The top 4 players from each group will advanced to a single elimination playoff bracket.
The league will be separated into 3 divisions:
- Division A - Masters/GM
- Division B - Platinum/Diamond
- Division C - Bronze/Silver/Gold
Participants: + Show Spoiler +
Schedule of Events All matches will be scheduled for Wednesday night @01:30 GMT (+00:00) for the entirety of the event (reschedule requests are allowed but is at the discretion of your opponent).
Maps Because this is a for fun league, and because I admire the map making community and want to help spread their work, the starting map for each week will be a map chosen from the TeamLiquid.net map makers community. After the first game, the loser will select the next map from a typical MLG/GSL map pool that will be announced later on. No vetoes allowed.
Registration Entire league information and rules can be found at: http://sc2clans.org/league To register for the event, please fill out the registration form at: http://sc2clans.org/leaguereg
Tournament hosting will be provided by Binary Beast. Free registration with SC2Clans.org and BinaryBeast.com is required.
Signups will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Each division will accommodate a number of players up to the following typical formats: 8, 16, 32, or 64 (max). Once your registration on SC2Clans is approved (please allow me adequate time, I'm only 1 man and I work 40+hrs/week IRL), you will be emailed a link to join your bracket. Players MUST register on the site to participate in the event. Players who don't make the cutoff will be placed in reserve to replace first week no shows.
Be sure to follow all the action at SC2Clans.org, on Twitter @SC2Clans, and on Facebook.com/SC2Clans.
If you have any questions or would like to be involved with the league, contact admin@sc2clans.org.

This is an amateur league and is really just for fun. The truth of it is when money is on the line, I end up spending 90% of my time dealing with cheating accusations, and I'm sure a decent percentage (10-20% maybe) of those accusations are probably true but are extremely difficult for me to prove.
During the team league this summer, I would say probably 33% of the teams accused another team of cheating, and it wasn't shocking when two teams would start pointing the fingers at each other. In fact, in the lower division I'm still dealing with this sort of thing. When money gets involved, emotions run high and combined with the nature of online gaming it has a tendency to turn ugly fast.
Another sad truth, there is little to no money to be given out at this level. I could of course accept an entry fee for the top division and pay out the top 3 spots, but like I said above, it creates a situation that I'm just not willing to deal with again even if it is someone else's money on the line instead of mine.
But like I said before, this is just meant for fun. I really hopped that the lower skilled players would find that having 1 match per week would allow them time to practice a particular match up each week and would greatly improve their skill level. Anyone familiar with the Chobo Team League can testify that this sort of setup has worked very well as many of its participants have been promoted once, twice, and even three times during the course of a season and/or off season.
So players are improving and get a great competitive experience out of it on a weekly basis. That's the real prize.

Looking forward to it! :D

If I wasn't absolutely terrible I would totally sign up for this.

SC2clans was a lot of fun to take part in, I'll probably take part in this, just for the prestige.

Oh come on, one of the major points of playing in the league is to help you be a better player!

Not during the course of this event. There seem to be a lot of other events for teams at the moment, and I'm not ready to jump back in that hot water just yet. ;P
Hopefully this event will help spread the clan scene to some lower level players. The scene needs a better foundation I think that helps the cream rise to the top.
Also some clans that are recruiting my discover some new talent as well.

I sent you a PM about that. Let me know if it works. If it doesn't I will just make a hard copy note of it and enter you that way.

this should be fun. Question though, will it be possible to reschedule a match if both players agree, i.e., my college classes get in the way?
