STX's winning run is finally broken.
STX's winning run is finally broken.
+ Show Spoiler [Interview with Hwaseung winners] +
Leaders Hwaseung stopped STX's ninth consecutive win and retained their league leader position.
Hwaseung defeated STX 3:1 - Jaedong managed to win after an intense battle and records 53 wins this season. BackHo's ''손견제" like play halted Goojila's v Protoss streak.
Hiya on his 9 game losing streak decided to play bionic rush to null Calm and finished the game reaching his 32nd win of the season.
- It was an important set of matches. Thoughts on the victory?
▲ Jaedong = I thought it was obvious that we had to win. And I thought I would win (laugh). The rest of my teammates did well so we came out victorious.
▲ Hiya = It was on my mind that if I won, the team would win 100%. It was fortunate that it didn't go to ace match.
▲ BackHo = It was an important match. I feel good because of my win. We were able to win because Hiya won.
- STX was on an 8 game winning streak.
▲ Jaedong = The opposition team had a momentum going but I didn't pay too much attention. We had confidence going into the game to face STX. The entry was favourable too. BackHo played well. Recently, Goojila was on a v Protoss roll so I thought it would be difficult (for BackHo). His winning rate in practice wasn't so good either (laugh).
- Is it true that no one bellieved BackHo would win?
▲ BackHo = I believe I could win, but that's only me. In a meeting between players, majority didn't believe I could win.
▲ Hiya = No, I believed (in BackHo's win). Jaedong doesn't believe in his teammates of late (laugh). He doesn't know 짤방 made by the fans is real.
▲ BackHo = 짤방 could be uploaded by Jaedong. Playfully, he asked us for just a single win. However he isn't wrong. In the cases he is the only player to win in the team we say sorry. But he says it's ok.
- You lost 4 drones, it's the first time you were in that much trouble.
▲ Jaedong = I was too comfortable playing and didn't concentrate at the time. Even when I saw my drone die my mind was elsewhere. So I lost more drones. However I was at an advantage with my build order and I was able to win with my lings.
- Did you believe your ling attack would be successful?
▲ Jaedong = In early game, it's not too much of a disadvantage to lose 2~3 drones to lings, but I lost 4. I wasn't too sure (whether the attack would be successful or not) when I was attacking. I gained confidence (to win) when I saw his 2 lings circle around.
- Were you not burdened before the game because Goojila had 9 straight wins v Protoss?
▲ BackHo = The situation called I should never lose. And I am confident v Protoss. My previous 3 games v Protoss are all losses so in that respect I knew I couldn't afford to lose. It didn't matter whether Goojila had 9 straight wins or STX had 8 straight wins. It was a game I had to win.
- Your first harass didn't work as well. Did you think you were at a disadvantage as result of it?
▲ BackHo = I didn't notice too much while playing. My teammates said I was so when I came out of my booth. I planned to harass with reaver so I didn't think I was at a disadvantage. I thought it was 50:50
- Your counter attack to the empty base was very effective.
▲ BackHo = It had a slightly impulsive feel to it. I knew if I didn't do anything after my 7 o'clock expansion was run down I couldn't win. I targeted his empty base and I thought he would do the same. When his units were coming back to defend I gained huge benfits.
- You were in 8 game losing streak.
▲ Hiya = I was overconfident. I'm not that good but I became overconfident. Also, the games I played didn't work out overall. I played without my head screwed on.
- It didn't really work out for you in the early game today.
▲ Hiya = I was very nervous in the early game. So much so, I forgot my SCV wasn't doing anything. I never faced this strategy before so I was shaken badly. I thought I was still in the game but my teammates said if it wasn't for my last attack then I would have lost. I was confident that if I was ok early on then I could have won playing standard.
- SKT are chasing you in fearsome form.
▲ Jaedong = There aren't too many games left so if we do well then we can (retain first place and) qualify straight to the Grand Final. I just want to concentrate on our games as much as possible. In tomorrow's Hite vs SKT, I wish Hite does well. If Hite needs practice with us then I am willing to help.
▲ Hiya = If other teams beat them it's more convenient. But if we play well I don't think we'll be overtaken. It's only up to us to perform well.
▲ BackHo = The chase is alarming and all. The gap was wider before but it's narrower towards the end so it's frustrating. Jaedong played well but others haven't done so, which the fact is disheartening. We can go to the Grand Final by winning our remaining games and not care how SKT perform.
- There are people predicting Hwaseung will be weak in Bo7.
▲ Hiya = I'm not sure if other teams would be strong in Bo7 either. However, people say such things because Jaedong has been so good. The community (netizens?) says we will struggle in Bo7. Our Proleague records suggest that could be true but if you see us in training it's not the case.
▲ BackHo = I know of the those predictions. However Lomo and I have stepped up and Hiya has ended is losing streak. If we keep up with what we have there are no problems in Bo7. Our back up players are also strong.
▲ Jaedong = Unlike the judgment made when compared to other teams I certainly think we are not inferior in skill. My appearance rate has been high so we have received such image. We must improve in that regard. In practice, player's skills are getting better but never lacking. If only our back up players get used to the broadcasting stage we will be stronger.
- Your next game is against Samsung.
▲ Jaedong = We lost many times against Samsung in Proleague. To us every remaing game is important. We must win this time. Samsung's 2 Protoss are strong and I want to face them properly.
▲ Hiya = In every round we don't finish well so there are bad memories. This round we want to finish well to go straight to the Grand Final.
▲ BackHo = There are 3 games left. There are memories of unexpectedly losing to lower placed teams. We want to finish well without being complacent. We have been first for so long, if we don't go straight to the Grand Final it would be heart-breaking. We shall retain first place to the end.
- Any last words?
▲ Backho = It's fortunate that Hiya ended his losing streak. In the remaining games I want him play well and see him recover. I want us to win all our remaining games to go straight to the Grand Final. I want all our players to enthusiastic
▲ Hiya = During my losing streak, my family, teammates, fans, friends have been worrying about me. It's fortunate I ended that today. From today I want to be in a winning streak so the team can continue winning
▲ Jaedong = When I won Batoo OSL, my uncle made a scrapbook of articles and pictures. I realised a lot of things and there are people who care about me so much. So I gathered I have to play even better. I want to thank my uncle who is cheering for me from afar. It has lit the flame again for my passion.
+ Show Spoiler [Notes] +
'손견제' is like a nickname. 손 is the last name of BackHo and 견제 means harass.
'짤방' is used in forums to say something irrelevant but adds a tiny relevant part so it doesn't get deleted. I think in this context it means "Jaedong one-man-team" trolling around the internet.
