I've seen a lot of people doing VODs /commentaries (since I am staff at SC2GG, of course) and I am a friend of Ahzz (who also makes FPVods. So I tried my hand at it, all I got uploaded is a PvP game I played on iCCup.

That's the link. Any feedback would be cool; IDC if it's bad or good as long as I can take something from what you said.
So yeah, check it out.
EDIT: Oh right, I should point out that I just kind of narrated what I did and why I did it. So, I just kind of assume that the viewer has like a basic knowledge base, so if it seems really dumbed down; yeah that's why.

Not bad so far, though you are right what you talk about is really general. If your target audience is the beginner to intermediate then I would say your doing a good job, keep it up!

way to pick the 1 game out of 4 where jared loses using a pvt 2gate probecutting powergoon build

I advocate making commentaries of games Jared loses.

I don't understand; should I have messaged Jared and asked him permission? I just got Camtasia working and I lost two games before I played him; he was my only win of the day. It's not like I did it to stick it to him, I didn't have many options.

just as an fyi pple do usually ask the opponent (if they know them in some manner) whether they'd mind having a rep/vod posted of them. It's not that big a deal yes, but it's courtesy.

There you have it. The man has spoken!

Good FPVOD but I will say this though, with the economic disadvantage I had I wasn't able to have a nice army mix so I resorted to mass archon/zealot since it was cheaper (plenty of gas, no minerals so I can't support a dragoon/zealot/ht army (no money for storm either)).
I'll also say this, the strongest build PvP for a map like Longinus is 2 gate, don't do that opening I did because it's a low probe build that's best for PvT (It's the fast range build Nal_Ra/Bisu invented/popularized) and if you lose even 1 or 2 probes (like I did) you're pretty screwed since you have a significantly less probe count than you're opponent. If you want to go a Dragoon opening on Longinus I recommend just doing the standard 2 Gate goon opening (2nd gate on 21) if he's pressuring hard with zealots (noticeable by a late gas (even later than normal with 2 gate) it's probably better to ignore range and use the money that would've been spent on range for a gateway at 19 instead of at 21. But again 2 gate zealot is the strongest build there.
Again, good job on the FPVOD.

I think it's common courtesy not to release a VOD of you winning in a series you lost.
I played some games with Rekrul and won the series but lost a good game and he mentioned what I said above, which I really agree with.

I fully endorse people making solid FPVods. Also I would fully endorse vods aimed at a higher level audience, if you chose to do so. There seem to be a lot that speak only in huge generalities but very few that go into the specifics of play at higher than a D-ish level.

Fair enough
I want to point out that the this is the first one I've done and it was mostly just a test. Making sure audacity worked well and that I could compress the video/audio and still have a quality upload. I didn't try to imply that I am better then DeadVessel or anything.
Actually, in the FPVod I said a bonehead thing about being better; I meant macro wise, as I had a consistently bigger army that game (on account of his build plus a drop). I rewatched it though and that line came off really dickish.
Thanks for the advice though.

So basically, I torrented Camtasia 5.0 (there is a good torrent @ Isohunt.com) and set that all up. (Google Camtasia Spitfire guide for advice on how to format it) and then I downloaded Audacity; which basically records your audio. So I just hotkey record/stop on Camtasia to F9 and F10 and when the game begins, you just hit F9 and it records, when they gg (or you gg ) you hit F10; that will be your recorded video; the actually First Person View.
Then, you save it, open it in Windows Media Player or VLC. Pause it at 0:00 seconds and open up audacity. Hit record, reopen your media player and hit play and then talk about what your seeing. You need Windows Movie Maker (well, that's what I use at least) to put the audio and video together. That's pretty much it though, I hope that helps.
Summary:
Camtasia for recording your screen Audacity for recording your voice Window Movie Maker for syncing both together (also useful for cutting out interruptions)

I think it would be fun to make FPVODS but I'm only D+, C- at best so I doubt I'm good enough to even try.
