And reversing is exactly what I think of when I read WaveofShadow's first post for it encapsulates all that I list above. I agree with Cixah that declaring to be Vanilla Townie and asking for protection is extremely weird. The scum I assume all know who each other are right? Or else they might actually kill one of their own during night? Like having the Goon kill the big boss grand daddie is just weird. So they already know who all the non-scum Townies are anyway. When it comes Night and the scum choose who to kill they're taking a guess anyway who they want to kill. So asking for protection if you're Vanilla is super weird because shouldn't you want the Doctor to protect someone else? Like if the Mafia go after Wave ok fine we lose a boring no one. If they go after someone else there's now a higher chance that they kill someone important because they have a smaller list of Townies too look at. (Simple math. Picking the cop randomly out of say 3 people is more likely than picking randomly out of 4 people.) The way I see it, calling yourself out like that makes no logical sense from the perspective of a vanilla townie. And a vanilla townie has no reason not to be logical because their motives are really straightforward. So Wave is either a Townie with a special role, or actually scum trying to fake it until he makes it. This is made more likely by the fact that as the most experienced TL mafia player* it makes sense for Dandel lon to give him a role. This is what makes me think, if he does have a role how would be communicate it? I am still not sure what the solution would be, but the idea seems to be just pretend to be a regular townie. So we again reverse as we go from Wave being vanilla townie into scum or townie with a role. But I think the biggest change when you grab the gear stick and shift into reverse should be to drive away from Wave and focus on something else. Continued focus only acts as a red fish of the herring persuasion. In reality all serious arguments postulated by all here aren't really of much use on Day 1 where there is no real substantial information that can be gleaned as of yet with feints, counter feints and Xanatos Gambits** galore. The only real indicator you can have that allows a simple binary yes/no on Day 1 without trying to double read yourself is level of engagement. Whether town or town-pretending scum you should be wanting to be engaged in the game. Engagement is not a matter of post counts, but more about how you post in my opinion.*** It is like questioning who a real driver is. The man with the most expensive and compensating car is not a real driver unless he truly understands how to reverse. It is a win all around - if they are scum trying to hide we kill them and if not we get rid of a person who's not really interested in the game and have a batter game! So reverse we shall away from the focus of "he said, she said" details and to engagement. Lord Tolkein, AsmodeusXI and Requizen have the absolute worst engagement out of everyone here. Out of them Lord Tolkein has played 3 games and the other have never played before.**** I honestly think we should be talking about them.
