Uses & Natural occurance
n-Octyl acetate is used as a solvent; as a flavouring agent in foods; and in perfumes.(1,2,5) It is found naturally in oils of green tea and several other plant oils.(1) It also happens to be a bee pheromone*

Octyl acetate, as a pheromone, is released by honeybees from a gland in
their abdomen, this odor orients other bees to the location of their hive, and bees drop some in the flowers they’ve visited so that other bees are guided to the food source.
