She does english lessons on afreeca and we use her as a dummy vid for lag spikes (so that the stream doesn't die altogether).

Yeah it's been unwatchable so far. This is pretty random, it can go on lag-free for hours or this happens. You can try tuning in later to see if it gets better or just wait for lag-free HQ vods.
