So to start off, I am a top diamond terran and I think its fair to say I understand the matchup rather well at this point. I used to lose a lot late game, but I actually thought that I had at least some grasp at what I was supposed to do.
I killed his third, tried to drop, and I couldn't engage directly simply because he was up on upgrades. I was up on two bases though, not fully saturated, but mule bases. I think I maybe shouldn't have lost my ghost but i scanned and i didn't see an obs so i thought it was ok. Any tips and/or things that i could have done better or executed to win me this game?

your first engagement with the elevator was bad. idk why you did that when he didnt have collosus out just yet. you should bait some ff's and run up and down his front and get him paranoid. you shouldve rallied to your army so that when his collosus did pop you drop 2 medivacs up top and hit from the front with your bio.
other than that heres some other reasons:
-you were extremely late on upgrades, usually with stim medivac timing like that, +1 should finish as you get there. -you lost all your vikings for no reason -you lost all your ghosts for no reason -when you kite you kite your entire army and you overstim. if there is no significant aoe, like storm or collosus, which there was 1 collosus if i recall, and no storms iirc, you just stand still. you lose so much dps kiting, especially if you do it with your entire army. if you need to kite you should split your army into 3 different groups and kite them accordingly.

yeah I kind of derped on the elavator, thanks for the tips man I really appreciate it. So should I drop the eng bay like right before I drop my factory or right after my third rax?
|
That's what drives me crazy in TvP. You lose so many games, even if you're ahead.

Ya it gets kind of annoying sometimes, I'm glad it's so difficult though or else it wouldn't be so fun ^^

More people should have that attitude with this game.

i usually do a gasless fe so i drop my engi bay after my 3rd rax but before my factory. but i believe the standard timing to drop an ebay in tvp should be about 6:20. for a +1 timing and to defend against dt play.

yeah I haven't really incorporated the ebay timing into my play yet, normally just get 2 as i take my third and drop. Thanks again man!

The key reason you lost is because P is OP late game. But ways you still could have won imo. as someone said the elvoator was bad at the start, he had little anti air you would have done better to just keep doing smaller drops and doing less damage but loosing no units. When you EMPed is army you could have crushed it from booth sides by attacking from the left and top of the middle ramps. Even after that you stopped moving ur army around the map and started doing smaller drops, you were up by 50 supply, you could have done big damage with a big attack at the front and a drop in the main rather than 2 drops Edit: o and btw yes you were behind on ups, but this game that is not what lost you the game, by the time thing started to slip away you ur booth 3/3. When you were useing stutter step micro ur viking were not firing because they were in the same ground as the rest of ur army, try putting them in a separate group

At macro you were ahead of protoss for the whole game. Your army was greater then his army. You lost because he had a combination which could defeat you better because you had lots of marauders and few marines which are weak against his zealots, while he had lots of zealots and few stalkers so he had a good counter to your army. . At last battle you had lots of vikings while he had almost no colossus. The way you lost you ghost army was annoying to watch because you lost only your gosts without a big engagement. After the first engagement you were on par with protos.
I don't agree your start battle was bad, after it you were both on par. An your micro was equal to his but army combination you needed reapers and helions and good EMPs for final battles which you did not have.

sorry for double post but i just played another TvP.. and I just don't understand.. plz help me T.T I did lose half my army killing his third, kind of over extended, but I thought i was ahead enough to do that. Also I felt like i should have been dropping the entire game but I felt kind of scared to, idk why but I didnt feel like it would do anything Replay: http://drop.sc/148720
