Q: Finally, you manage to qualify for the Code S quarter-finals for the first time.
A: I'm feeling really good. I felt so unlucky and dejected after seeing the groupings. I had basically already given up. I am very happy to have been able to qualify for the next round, and I feel especially fortunate to have obtained the seeding for Code S next season.

Q: It was a very difficult victory against Nestea.
A: I don't even know how I came back from that. Both in terms of psychology and builds, Nestea hyung was ahead. But I thought that even if I were to lose, I did not want it to be one-sided, and so I continued playing. In the third game, I even thought about GG-ing, but as the game went by, I found a trace of hope, and that's why I persevered all the way and there was a comeback.

Q: What do you think was the reason for your comeback in game three?
A: A 10 pool speedling build results in a rather poor economy, so even though I had lost my main hatchery and was left with my expansion hatchery, I still had some hope. Moreover, I was ahead in terms of roach upgrades. I was also faster in producing infestors. Overall, it was the tech advantage that was the biggest factor in my eventual comeback.

Q: How about the winner's match? Seemed like you had an easier time there.
A: All this while, I've always felt quite comfortable going up against MarineKing. I basically didn't practise much ZvT, and adapted to the situation as the game progressed. MarineKing is the type of player who uses non-standard strategies, so on the contrary, I think that practising too much would negatively affect my play against him today.

Q: You are up against Parting in the quarter-finals. These days, he's the emerging newcomer.
A: He seems to be playing the psychological game ever since yesterday. He actually said that if I were to qualify as first place in the group, he'd eliminate me easily. I was seriously a little angry when I heard that (laughs).

He is definitely very good at PvT. I don't know about his PvZ though. I will defeat him 3-0 in the quarter-finals. We are very good friends in private (laughs).

Q: You managed to avoid facing MC and MMA. If you manage to make it to the finals, who do you hope to face?
A: From the round of 8 onwards, there could be a situation where I would be playing ZvPs all the way. I hope to avoid facing a Protoss in the finals.

Whenever we talk about finals, the Blizzard Cup comes to my mind. MMA is one player that I will always want to go up against in any finals (laughs).

Q: Do you think you can escape the Kong line this time?
A: My win-rate during practice is very low, so I'm still kind of worried. But if I get lucky like today, then there is that possibility of escaping the Kong line.

Q: There aren't many Zergs left.
A: Matches are more interesting when there're Zergs in them, isn't that so? Even if I were to lose, I will show good games to everyone. Because there're so few Zergs left, I feel a lot of responsibility.

Q: Any thing else you wish to say?
A: I want to thank the team mates who practised with me. I also want to thank my family and friends for their continuous support, and also the coaching team. Oh, and I also hope Nestea hyung will make it to the quarter-finals. I'm serious (laughs). I really am (laughs).

Q: How does it feel returning to Code S quarter-finals after 3 seasons?
A: I'm feeling really good. Before the match today, I thought it would be hard to make it to the quarter-finals if I didn't come in first in the group, but I actually came back from being 0-1 down twice to clinch second place in the group. It was an unexpected result.

Q: You lost to MarineKing in the first match. It was a bad start.
A: The hellion harassment got out of hand. Even though I lost that match, I thought that if I had the chance to play him again, I had a good chance of winning.

Q: The match against Nestea was not easy either.
A: To be honest, it felt easier than the previous match I had against DongRaeGu. That's how I feel. Even when I was 0-1 down, I still thought that I could win. Thankfully, Nestea hyung actually used a 6 pool in the second game, so I was able to gain control of the game.

Q: How was the rematch with MarineKing? You managed to even block a 4-rax rush.
A: It felt like lady luck was not with me today, and I almost felt like giving up. But I had realise earlier that the strategies of MarineKing were basically to counter my chargelots, and so I produced colossi. This is the biggest reason for my eventual comeback.

Q: Nowadays, Protoss are really doing very well.
A: To be honest, there are still 3 Terrans in the quarter-finals, so I do not think the Terran era is over yet. If there was another Protoss in group D apart from me, I feel that both of us would have been eliminated. Apart from MC that is (laughs).

Q: You will face MC in the quarter-finals. He mentioned yesterday that it'd be easy to play against you.
A: For mirror match ups, it is still mainly about luck in the openings and the player condition on that day. I am not too worried about what he said. I think it's still a 50:50 chance for our game.

Because it's a mirror matchup, I think that I would not have to practise so hard. As such, I think it's not too bad facing against him.
(T/N: Heh. Really? For his own sake, I hope this was translated wrongly by the Chinese site, but Google Translate suggests that it was correctly translated. No need to practise so hard against MC's PvP? Meh.. Or maybe he's just joking? Haha)

Q: DongRaeGu was wishing in his interview that Nestea would advance (laughs)
A: If he had went down to the loser's match, I would definitely have won against him again. Including the round of 32 score, I would have a 4:0 result against him. I do not know where he gets the confidence to keep going against me (laughs).

Q: Do you think you can get to the finals? Honestly, what do you think is the probability?
A: I have the feeling that I will play against DongRaeGu in the finals. I started having these feelings ever since the round of 32. Since I was somehow able to make it to the round of 8 after today's matches, I feel good about it.

Q: Anything you wish to add?
A: I want to thank the players who practised with me, Black MVP_Keen, Rabbit MVP_Noblesse, Seahorse MVP_Dream (T/N: Thank you hzflank for this). Oh, I also want to thank aLive. I have not thought of a nickname for him yet (laughs).

dont think hes going to win code s though

this decision and the mentality behind it are good for finals. many times people feel stubborn to stick to what they practiced for each map and USUALLY that is the right choice but being able to do the above is important.

It's weird reading these interviews... The only players who don't get cocky and say they'll go 3-0, win easily against an opponent, or make it to the finals are terrans.

Hahaha. Maybe it's a Teran thing and you can do a psychological study on the topic

I'm fairly surprised by this. His builds/openings in ZvT were different from anything we've seen out of him before in ZvT.
i was driving down the road this november eve and spotted a hitchhiker walking down the street. i pulled over and saw that it was only a tree. i uprooted it and put it in my trunk. do trees like marshmallow peeps? cause that's all i have and will have.

I see aLive in so many of these winner interview practice partner lists, it's weird that they practice with people they might have to play against a week or two later
