I am posting this in the General SC2 thread to forewarn my fellow TL mates.
There is another thread about the problems of the new GOMTV.net in the tech support thread but I feel it does not have enough exposure about the exact cause of the problem. Also most people probably have the tech support thread on hide.
I have already posted a request to help in the Q&A board at GOMTV.net and sending a total of 2 E-mails now to their support address. I sent the second one because it was few days already since the first one and this time I attached a read receipt to it to see the emails were ever read. Turns out it did.
With that out of the way, I shall start describing the ACCOUNT LOCKOUT problem. Ever since GOMTV.net redesigned their website, there have been some people that were unable to log in to their website. This problem has persisted since:

+ Show Spoiler +
Almost every instance of this problem seems to be caused when using the Modify Profile options of your account. In my specific case, it happened when I was on the change email/Password section. In the field where it says "Your Email address:", it said for me I haven't registered one for it. Seeing that, I assumed I need to re-enter it. As I finished fully typing my address in. It displayed in red letters underneath the input field "duplicate". I started to become confused at this point wondering if I needed to re-confirm my address or not. Either way I hit the SAVE button, thinking if it's a duplicate it would just reject it with an error just like any other site. Turns out GOMTV.net is not like any other site and it seemed to accept my answer and then proceed to log me out. Since that moment, I have not been able to log back in.
In my many attempts to re-log in, I learned a few facts. Using GOMTV.net's email and password retrieval forms as seen below:
+ Show Spoiler +
I was able to retrieve my email address every time when using the left form using my nickname and password. I was also able to get my password reset every time I used the right form using my email address which matches to what I retrieve from the left. Using these two pieces of information it gives me, however, never succeeds in me logging to the website.
Checking some posts today on the Q&A board, I noticed one that said issue was resolved. The poster claimed that you can log in to the mobile website and then switch to the PC version from there. Of course, I immediately tried that out. It did not work but I discovered a new revelation. When it denied me, it presented me a pop-up saying my email address did not exist. This was interesting as this actually stated which field it had problems with. I experimented with a second account I made to watch GSTL finals in free SQ with and purposely inputted an incorrect password but with an correct email address. The result was that it specifically said the password was incorrect. This was important information for me as the main website does not tell you which field you have entered incorrectly. It will simply tell you have one or the other is wrong. So now I knew the problem lied with my email even though I am able to retrieve it.
I did another test using my second account involving changing email addresses. As I finished typing in my email address of my original account, the address was green-lighted as available.
From all my tests, I have concluded:
1. My account is not simply hacked and stolen as I can still retrieve my old email address with my nickname as that cannot be changed.
2. The databases for email address retrieval and login authentication seems to be separate or at the very least, not associated correctly. I can retrieve address through form but it doesn't exist for login.
Anyways, that wraps it up for me. Thought I'd share my ordeal to prevent any future victims. Some may or may not have the exact same problem but until further notice I would not recommend messing with the options in modifying your profile.
Near the end of this writing I finally got an email stating that they will be looking at this matter. That assuaged my rage somewhat. Until minutes later I was sent a password reset... NO GOM, the problem is not the password, it's the fact your login authentication cannot recognize my email's existence. I cannot believe their answer to my problem was simply perform a function that I have had done myself several times over these past few days. >_<
My personal rant below: + Show Spoiler + Going to be a sad byunny until account gets fixed since I may have to limit myself to what sections to read on TL to avoid spoilers of GSL matches. Thinking about not being able to watch the VODs of MVP vs Nestea when I get home tomorrow is going to be a killer. *sigh*
I have become disheartened towards GOM in this ordeal because while you do not guarantee the sanctity of your stream service as stated by your terms, you are supposed to guarantee me the right to watch the VODs I have payed for already. I for one will not be purchasing any further tickets until my account is fixed. I have purchased all content ad-free from the very beginning with OPEN season 1.

Interesting...when I try to go to "my profile" on gom's website, the URL mentions error/notfound.php
But I can still log in/log out with no problems. Maybe they are trying to fix this problem with modifying your profile?

I'm having the same exact issue and im very annoyed of the zero reponse to the issue from gom.
|
Wow that's messed up. And usually GOM is pretty quick with resolving issues. Strange that this time they are being so avoidant with you.
|
Did you enter your password in case-sensitive? It worked for me, though most likely that's not the issue.
|
It never ceases to astound me the sloppy crap that professional programmers deploy onto live systems without having tested properly. This sounds like a classic save/retrieve error where the value posted to the page isn't consistent with the same value when it's retrieved back from the DB, which is pretty much the first thing you should have your test scripts (or your test people) checking before every new build is deployed. And of course the lack of a response by GOM makes it even more egregious.
You have my sympathy, and my thanks for the warning. I hope they can sort that out quickly so that you don't miss out too much!

After GOM required a password change couple of months back when their servers had been hacked I entered 18 character long very complex password containing several special characters. After they updated their site the password ceased to function. I had to use "Forgot email address or password?" function to get my password reset. The confirmation e-mail took some time to arrive, but thankfully it solved my problem and I could change my password.

I'm having extremely similar issues. My email/password combo is not working so I assume I'm using the wrong password... even though I'm quite sure I'm not.
To retrieve my password I must enter my email + nickname. I have no fucking clue why my nickname on gomtv is. To log in, you only need your password+email. I made the account about a year ago so I have no clue what my nickname is as I've never needed it... I can't watch code s now even though I've already paid for it. wtf yo
|
I forgot my password as well. Cookie didn't work. But I could retrieve my password.
|
i forgot my password and tried retrieving said my email was not in teh database or something, an hour later i remembered my pass and logged back in fine
|
I had the same issue, now I log in using my twitter acc and now I have no problems at all
|
My account is tied to my facebook, and now GOMTV won't let me log in. I click the sign in button, a window pops up and then closes and doesn't sign me in. Sad times.

no need for a thread. they obvisiously know the problems already and they will try to fix them asap. no need for rage at all

I'm having a similar problem, but it's more of a sound problem... every time Moletrap speaks this horrifying sound come out of my speakers. It only happens when he speaks, and I've even tried to listen to other casters but it's only him. It's ear piercing and it makes me feel sick to my stomach and I then proceed to double over and begin dry heaving uncontrollably. I find myself asking "How is this so..?" and so I decided to see if anyone else is having a similar problem. I need to watch my GSL Oct. but it's physically not possible.
User was temp banned for this post.

You know there is this thing called muting the sound and listening to music instead of bashing a caster.
Also you are derailing a thread about something important.
For the guy who did the OP I hope that GOM will be able to fix your problem/others problems as soon as they can. But they are usually fast about things like this.

So my current problems are. Originally the hell if I was going to remember an 18 word long password. W./e I let it go and signed up with my facebook. Now I am dieing to watch MVPvsNESTEA and like I don't have access to my account? And no way to recover it. Like Get it together GOM <3.
Also to recover my original account I need to remember my nickname? It was something random so please gom allow it to send a verification reset and the only info you need is your email to do it. Please.

Holy shit I has a question.. When was this implemented...
# If you sign up for GOMTV.net with both of your SNS accounts (twitter and facebook), you need to terminate one of your GOMTV accounts to fully use GOMTV.net’s service (You will not be able to use both of your SNS accounts). # You will only be able to sign in using the initial account that you created when signing up. Please note that if you used a SNS account to sign up, you will only be able to sign in using the SNS account.
How do they enforce that.. via ip? (share internets)
or do they mean a facebook and twitter that are linked.
Whatever im just going to do homework.

Also a bit of advice, make sure you use a unique password for your gomtv account as they transmit your username, email, and password in plain text with no encryption what so ever.
