Is this abusing a loophole in the MLG system or something? I don't really like the idea of stealing resources from a not uber rich company like MLG if it is. It costs them money to run the Silver and Gold Membership rewards, if a bunch of no payers start using it, wont that eat into profits significantly? Since things like HQ stream require paying for a more robust system, and if a bunch of freeloaders are on it sucking up bandwidth and resources that otherwise would have been covered by paying membership costs.....stuff like that.
If this is just a promotion thing that was intended, then woot?

you'll receive an email with the MLG code in 5minutes or so. you dont need to win anything from the microwave.

Given that HotPockets is one of their major sponsors, I'm pretty sure they won't mind. If you get the free silver this time around, not thinking that the silver/gold service is worth buying, you might change your mind for the next event after experiencing it, and purchase a silver/gold package.

This promotion started a while ago.
Here is Sundance's response to the promotion:
"All I ask is that if you like what you see then consider supporting us once your free trial ends. Either by watching the streams with ads or buying a membership. Keep in mind new features are rolling out over time.
As I've said in the past - we need to show that membership can work. We're beyond having a business that is supported by >70% of it's revenue coming from sponsors.
