After writing an article about a man who made my childhood,
[A/N: yes I AM shamelessly promoting things like Tasteless, which yes, you should go buy at] I looked back into the past once more to see if there were any other history that the SC2 audience should know of.

Cliff picture posted for blatant plagerism from another article that you should read

I didn't have to search long.

After all, a curse seemed to pass onto Starcraft 2. A curse so brutal that it shaped a man's career out of it.
It is a curse that has plagued a player forever more until he was gone from ESports.

Perhaps, it is not forever more, but rather, forever second.

No, not you, you adorable pink bunny <3

The original second place winners. The player who almost was. The second most important person to ever shape E-Sports.
And the only first position he ever got: The first of the Kong line

Oh you so sexy, (Z)YellOw

To many of the Starcraft 2 members of the community, YellOw was just another man who voiced Code A of the GSL. To many, I am certain that they simply found him boring and dull in comparison to the usual Street Fighter voice or the pretty girls who can't pronounce a single word in English.

Remember this guy?

But the fact that he announced the IDs of the players is something that should not be shrugged off. Why?
Because just as BoxeR was the Emperor, YellOw was the Storm Zerg. Just as there is a ying and a yang, the reason BoxeR's significant changes may have been mitigated were it not for YellOw pushing him to the brink at every single step.

Hong Jin Ho broke into the Starcraft scene in 2000 as part of Team IS (Hwaseung OZ, or the home of the Tyrant for the SC2 people) , shocking the viewers with a style that could only be described as a storm.

Zerglings when they were actually good back in SC1

His aggressive, low economy, drop style of play confused his opponents and simply demolished his opponents. Although he could not make it far into the Hanbitsoft OSL the first time he entered, (being eliminated by (P)Grrrr... and (P)Kingdom) his gamesense and playstyle gained the interest of the numerous progamers who were currently in the scene.

The first time that BoxeR and YellOw met was iTV Hangame Survivor Tournament. Did you know that YellOw won? And that in the same tournament, later on, BoxeR would win against YellOw? It was here that the rivalry begun.
This needs to be a wallpaper

Then came the Coca-Cola OSL.
Although BoxeR won the tournament in the end, the matches were epic. Leading to a final game 5, the tense back and forth matches set a standard that future OSL and MSL championships had to uphold.

Don't you wish GSL finals were like this?

The rivalry would continue on beyond this OSL, and throughout both BoxeR and YellOw's career, they would constantly meet one another, knocking each other out of tournaments for years. (For example, the bunker rush)

Even past the HingJinRok, YellOw was also involved with other rivalries such as (T)iloveoov, (T)NaDa, and (P)Reach.

However, just as the old fades away, YellOw began to fade away into darkness. He quite simply could not keep up with the newer generations of gamers.

Just like a storm, he appeared suddenly, effected all, and simply dissipated.

But that certainly did not mean that he truly faded away.
Even throughout his career in Airforce Ace, he delivered truly memorable games for the fans, games that are talked about excitedly today.

Warning: Fangirls afoot

Two out of 4 TBLS Down

His legacy as well still remains within both the Starcraft 1 and Starcraft 2 communities.
YellOw, the legendary second place finisher, passed down his 'curse' to that of (P)Stork and (T)Fantasy of Starcraft 1, and to that of adorable MarineKingPrime.WE, who have now made their mark on ESports history as the 2nd Kongs, the spawns of YellOw's curse.

The face says it all

His retirement, while a sudden news, was still expected. Simply being on the bench for KT Rolster during the 2011, it was a sad news but everyone knew it was coming.

Oh BoxeR, you trollboat you

However, the question now is, what will happen with YellOw? With his recent involvement with the GSL, many fans of old such as myself would certainly like to see him become involved with SC2 and once again see that old magic.

But another part of me, part 'BW Elitist' wants to simply remember him for the games that he has already done. For the memories he has left behind for me.

But one thing is for certain:
YellOw should be remembered as a man who helped bring Starcraft to the place it is today. Leaving behind his own legacy, he is truly a man that should be respected and loved, and not be called just a man to even those that do not know him.

Oh,
....
and one last thing
....
콩까지마!

[A/N: because of some weird thing going on in my head, I will now do a lot more of these for the notable BW players now known in the Starcraft 2 community. So next up, my most beloved player, NaDa!]
Need to write more things...

Thank you for the article.

YellO was before I got into Broodwar, I knew little about him.

I still recognized him as he announced the Code A players. He did it with dignity and an aura of wisdom.

Never played Broodwar until I got SC, but I have a lot of respect for people like YellOw! Shame to see people have his curse, but the MKP situation is a bit different. Every time he's in the final the game is a bit one-sided instead of the old Boxer vs Yellow epic games.
