Winner of oGsTOP vs ZeNexByun

+ Show Spoiler +

oGsTOP!

Q. Congratulations on winning Code A. First of all, how do you feel?
A. It was hard since it went the full distance but also more gratifying for the same reason.

Q. Did the fact that there was no automatic Code S place for the winner make it harder to prepare?
A. Since there was less 24 hours to practice before the finals, I mainly focused on mental imagery training. (T/N: sort of like creative visualization as in 'playing' in your head)

Q. Did you ever think about whether the winner should be assured a place in Code S?
A. I've been working hard for the past month. So it's a little disappointing that the prize money is the same as what my teammate oGsjookTo got for finishing last in his Ro32 group of Code S. Also, the fact that there was nothing like a trophy for the winner adds to that sentiment.

Q. You go straight into another important match.
A. It's hard but I will work hard to get promoted.

Q. What chances do you give yourself for promotion?
A. It's certainly possible if I do my best.

Q. What were your priorities if any, for choosing your opponents for the up & down matches.
A. It was important for me to choose players according to my most confident match-up. That meant it would be a smart move to choose players of the same race.

Q. Is there a particular reason for choosing SlayerS_LegalMind and SanZeNex?
A. I also considered choosing AnyproPrime.WE and HongUnPrime.WE but my hand just went to those names. I didn't stress too much about my choices.

Q. Is there a reason why that was?
A. I was confident that I could beat any protoss player outside of my team so it didn't really matter who I faced.

Q. Before you made your first choice, your hand hovered around TSL_Fruitdealer's name.
A. I really wanted face Fruitdealer-hyung but after discussing it with my coach and my manager, we came to the conclusion that it would be more meaningful for me to play him in Code S rather than in the up & down matches.

Q. If you could say one thing to TSL_Fruitdealer?
A. I don't think he will get demoted to Code A but I'd like him not to underestimate his opponents and make sure he reaches Code S.

Q. Your results after GSL Open Season 1 were disappointing.
A. It was very difficult after failing to qualify for Seasons 2 and 3. I also travelled to sweden (T/N: Dreamhack) which also didn't turn out great. Afterwards, I realised the importance of being in Code S and that is why I really want to secure promotion this time.

Q. Lately, there have been a lot of talk about the TvT match-up. What are your thoughts on that?
A. I've been practicing it a lot recently. However, I feel my builds aren't stable so it remains in the research stage.

Q. It seems like your female fanbase has increased quite a bit.
A. I haven't been paying much attention so I'm not sure. It doesn't feel real but I'm just thankful that more and more people are showing up to cheer for me.

Q. Any final words?
A. I'd like to thank my mananger (oGsTheWind), my coach (oGsGon) and the team captain (oGsCezanne). I would also like to express my gratitude for my teammates and my parents for their enduring support.

I agree here. Code A might not be what everyone wants to see, but they do deserve perhaps a trophy or some form for at least accomplishing something on a level that surpasses a good majority of us.

You have a typo by the way.

Didn't he say that he will choose Fruitdealer in up and down match?
I was happy when he said that since that would be a brave move so he's all talk and back away on the very last minute? or maybe he's smart

Great job on the translation, always love to read these.

Anyone know why he wanted to face Fruitdealer? Some sort of conflict I don't know about?

The winner doesn't auto enter Code S? Seems pretty dumb but I guess the numbers work out this way. Really hope he can take out FD and advance.

good terran. nice to see him back after gsl2/3 failures. he should have beaten FD back in gsl1, he had the series, so no surprise he thought of choosing FD. He'll take out legal and or sans easily.

The up and down matches are scheduled for 4 days. So that's 2 groups per day. Anyone knows how it works?

I remember hearing the casters mentioned that 3rd place has 2 chances, so it means if the 4th place loses just one game, he's instantly demoted? How bout the code A player?

So like the winner of Code A gets a thousand dollars.

That's it for his entire month of hard work and overcoming all.

No trophy, no seeding into Code S, no recognition.

Like, there is no motivation for getting first place. The final of Code A is about as consequential as the final of WCG Korea, in which the champion gets only bragging rights.

Each group consists of 3 players, a code A, 4th place code S and 3rd place code S player. The code A player first plays the 3rd place code S player in their group. The winner of that is instantly code S and doesn't play anymore. The loser of that game plays the 4th place code S player and the winner is code S and the loser code A.
That's why they kept saying that 3rd place has 2 chances, etc. Hope that helps explain it.

Oh come on, you sexy beast.
He can't honestly say has hasn't noticed his personal parade of fangirls.

I'm sure he'll make it into Code S. Said that a while ago. It's easy to see that there are some players that don't belong in Code S, but I am confident that time will sort that one out.
