Really: “I’ve experienced a 14 loss losing streak before”
When the Woongjin Stars were on a 7 loss losing streak, there was a person who really wanted to comfort and encourage his teammates. [T/N: No pun intended.] That person is Really who has transferred from Estro. Back when Estro had the worst results of a 14 loss losing record in Proleague, Really suffered and received much deeper wounds with that team over his current team’s 7 loss losing streak. Knowing that his teammates were suffering from their 7 loss losing streak, Really thought to himself, “I’ve even had a 14 loss losing streak before, so I won’t fuss over the number of losses we’ve had. If I simply think about one game at a time, that’ll be enough.” Although he couldn’t show his full potential in his games on the outside recently, before he could personally state those words here, it was a relief that his team’s losing streak has finally ended.

Q: Your feelings on your team’s 7 loss losing streak ending
A: When I was with Estro, I experienced a 14 loss losing streak. I thought that a 7 loss losing streak was nothing compared to that and just kept on trying my best. Luck hasn’t been on our side and we’ve had a lot of regrettable matches. From now on, I’ll try to show even stronger games.
Q: You faced off against Major.
A: I was expecting a Zerg to come out and when a Terran came out instead, I panicked. After trying to play with confidence though, it seemed that I was able to relax.
Q: What was your team’s atmosphere like during the 7 loss streak?
A: The truth is that it wasn’t really good at all. I kept on thinking that we had to win, no matter what. Although I really wanted to say this to my teammates, the words wouldn’t come out. Still, it seemed like a good experience for all of us.
Q: Your manager Lee Jae Kyun shaved his head.
A: When he came to us after he had shaved his hair, I felt really guilty. I thought that we really had to win. The reason behind his shaved head was because we were at a 0:4 record, so we as teammates felt even sorrier to him. Although his actions showed that our manager was passionate and believed in us, in order to prevent such circumstances from happening again, we will not go through another losing streak. This time, we have to climb up the ranks in the post season and go for the championship.
Q: Your next match is against STX. They are not an easy opponent.
A: We’ll be facing off against STX Soul. Since it’s the last match in Round 2, I want to win. Since our losing streak has ended, we’ll have to do our best to be able to get a winning streak.
Q: The All-Kill format in the Winners’ League is going to begin soon.
A: I’ve had 3 victories in one match before. Even if I don’t do an All-Kill, there are many other players who can. If I have the opportunity to pull off an All-Kill that would be a great effort, but there are many other strong players in Woongjin Stars who can perform well in the All-Kill format.
Q: Your resolution before facing against STX.
A: I want to win without fail so that we can have a winning streak.
Q: What did you do for Christmas?
A: While I was practicing with my teammates, I said “Merry Christmas” to them in chat. It was a huge relief that we won today. I would like to have a fun and pleasant Christmas next year. [T/N: Poor Really, getting no fun and games on Christmas and instead practicing away the grueling hours with his teammates! ;o;]
Q: Any last words you want to say?
A: Coach SONJJANG has recently received his second daughter. It’s a relief that we could win even though he was out for a while. I hope that she is a good gift to him. Congratulations.
ZerO: “I will definitely defeat Neo.G_Soulkey in the MSL”
By facing off against WeMade FOX’s Shine and ending his vZ 12 winning streak, Woongjin Star’s ZerO was able to effectively pull off a win for his team. Although he knew that Shine’s 14 winning streak against all races was recently ended by Mind, the truth was that ZerO did not know that Shine was still hot on a vZ winning streak and was able to breathe a sigh of relief, “I could have been a victim of a monstrous winning record.” For the Round of 16 in the MSL, ZerO, who has 2 wins out of the 3 games against his junior Neo.G_Soulkey said, “In order to not let my junior get a chance at advancing at all, I must win at all costs.”

Q: During your team’s 7 loss losing streak, you lost quite a lot of games.
A: During the time when both the team and I were going through a losing streak, it was really hard. Our team’s atmosphere was really heavy. Even though we were feeling down, we felt that we could win today. From our previous match, we were at a 0:3 record, but we were able to follow that up with a 3:3 record. By improving our record, it seemed that our team’s atmosphere became alive again. It looks like our losing streak has ended. Even while practicing for my games and coming to the stadium, my mind has been able to relax.
Q: You faced off against Shine.
A: I knew that Shine was hot on a winning streak. I also knew that his winning streak was stopped by Mind. However, I did not know that he still had a winning streak against Zerg. If I had lost to him, I would have become a victim to his tremendous record.
Q: What do you think is a common characteristic for players that have winning streaks?
A: There doesn’t seem to be a real difference in ability or anything, but those players honestly seem like they have a lot of momentum/force. Players with winning streaks seem to have a lot of self-confidence and also seem to get less nervous and tensed up. From the standpoint of an opponent who has a losing streak, the burden on them is great. There’s a difference from trying to show your true potential from practice, which is difficult to demonstrate in itself.
Q: Your next match is against STX.
A: We were in the middle of a losing streak and our team developed a negative atmosphere, but recently our atmosphere has been doing alright. I personally think that this atmosphere can continue on through the 3rd round since we moved up 2 matches. If we defeat STX and get a winning streak, won’t we be able to do even better in the 3rd round?
Q: Since both teams have a lot of Zergs, their styles seem to be quite similar.
A: In my previous match, I faced off against Kal and won. Rather than our teams’ styles being similar to each other, there are a lot of players that I’m close to in STX. Therefore we can face off against each other in our match with comfortable feelings. That’s why I think that we’ll have a good outcome when we go against them.
Q: You’ll be playing against Neo.G_Soulkey in the Round of 16.
A: If I get to the finals in the MSL, in order to get even 2nd place, teamkills are inevitable. That’s why if I reach the finals, even though I do not want to get knocked out along with doing a teamkill, I have to just try my best. If only I worked as hard as I did yesterday, I could have won easily as well today (laughs). There will be a huge burden if I do a teamkill, but I really want to win against Neo.G_Soulkey.
Q: Your teammate free has done a teamkill against you before.
A: Although it was important since it was the Round of 8, rather than being upset over losing to a fellow teammate, it was really regrettable how I let an opportunity of advancing to the Round of 4 slip through my hands. I have confidence in facing off against Neo.G_Soulkey in this MSL’s Round of 16. I also have the self-confidence to say, “If I lose to Neo.G_Soulkey in this MSL, I better just go home.” In order to restrain ourselves from stressing out too much for our showdown, we promised to each other that we wouldn’t practice for our match. Losing to Neo.G_Soulkey is not an option. The reason why is because I am still his senior and because I believe that I am our team’s Zerg ace. Also, if Neo.G_Soulkey wins against me, he might fall apart and lose later on, which may damage our team’s spirit. I have to win no matter what.
Q: Any last words you want to say?
A: Congratulations to Coach SONJJANG for now having two daughters. Your second daughter was born yesterday and we wanted to congratulate you, but we couldn’t get in touch with you. Even during the time when you were gone we practiced really hard, and if you would accept our victory today as a Christmas present, that would make us really happy. It has been a long time since our team has had a good day.
Crazy-Hydra: “The Britney jinx is now broken”
By going through a heavy losing streak, Woongjin Stars had confirmed that they had a unique jinx on them. The jinx began when Protoss player Britney who formerly played actively for Hite Entus was transferred to Woongjin in the 2nd round of Proleague. After Britney entered his new team; by Woongjin falling into a 7 loss losing streak while Hite Entus swelled into a 6 win winning streak, it seemed like the two teams traded their joys and sorrows with each other. “Since our team ended our losing streak, it seems that Britney’s anxiety/jinx has also ended. From now on, it seems that I can stretch my feet out comfortably and finally be able to sleep in peace,” said Crazy-Hydra.

Q: Your thoughts on ending your team’s 7 loss losing streak with your own hands
A: Last week, I lost to Hite Entus’s Hydra. At that time, if I had won that game, I could have ended our team’s losing streak earlier by one game. Since the match went rather strangely, I must have troubled the fans that were watching the game.
Q: Recently you’ve been doing only ZvZs.
A: I’ve been called a “ZvZ machine” by my team before. Our manager heard from them that I was a specialist at ZvZ, and so arranged it that whenever a Zerg would come out in matches, I would be the one to face them. It’s our manager’s “sinteuri”. [T/N: I have no clue what “신트리” is… Some kinda slang for cho gosuness/super gosuness? Super-secret sniping plan lingo? Buttering up to someone? I tried looking it up, and there were quite a few articles with the word in it, but none of them really explained exactly what it is. )<]
Q: What did you think of today’s match?
A: It was a match where I focused well. It was a match where the thoughts of being able to end our losing streak dwelled in my head and made me tremble. I felt like I was having fun while the game was going back and forth. It seems that thanks to keeping the pressure on with my Zerglings and being relentless with them, I was able to win.
Q: You were passed on to the next match with the results of 3:2. Didn’t you feel nervous and burdened to try to end it with a 4:2?
A: I dealt with the match with the thoughts of having to end it no matter what. I thought that even if I lost, ZerO could win the ace match for us.
Q: You received the MVP award. Your feelings?
A: It’s my first time winning the MVP award. It was awkward how all the cameras kept on trying to take pictures of me. I’m still not used to them. However, I was able to have a really good day today. It seemed that I got repaid for my efforts and received a really nice present for Christmas, since I practiced really hard for today’s match.
Q: Any last words?
A: After Britney transferred to our team, Woongjin started losing all of their games. Hite Entus, on the other hand, started to have a winning streak. Today our win seemed to come from that jinx finally being broken, so it’s a huge relief to all of us. [T/N: Rofl, doesn’t it seem a little too harsh to blame all of your losses on a new teammate?!? Poor Britney, lolz. LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE- *Coughhackcough* >>;;]
free: “What is Christmas again”
In order to end their 7 loss losing streak, the Woongjin Stars players told us that they took their minds off Christmas and only practiced hard for their matches. The Woongjin players practiced 10 hours into the night on Christmas, and the word “Christmas” was not uttered even once on that day. The seniors and juniors who had nothing to hide from each other did not say a single word to each other as the night went on, and practiced with their utmost efforts until Christmas had finally passed. After Christmas had passed, the players told each other “Merry Christmas” and said that they had spent the day wisely. Among the seasoned players in Woongjin, one of them, free, has confirmed those words. Free disclosed his feelings about practicing during Christmas, “It seems that the heavens knew how much we had practiced almost to death during Christmas and has bestowed its blessings upon us today.”

Q: Your feelings on your team finally breaking out of their 7 loss losing streak
A: Although our losing streak may have ended, we have another match on the day after tomorrow. We cannot allow ourselves to get too excited over breaking out of our losing streak. Our next match is more important than the one we won today, since it’s the final match. Having a winning streak is essential. I want us to advance forward towards the road to getting a winning streak.
Q: You fought a hard, drawn-out battle with Midas. It seems that facing off against Terrans isn’t easy.
A: In Proleague, there have been many times where I won, along with many times where I won against Terrans. The two races have a flow with each other. When I was practicing on this map (Circuit Breaker), I thought that games would just go simply and smoothly on it. Midas, however, came out with an early timing and put pressure on me, making the game really hard to win.
Q: You won your last game in the OSL. Does it seem like you broke out of your slump?
A: I don’t really care about my recent record. In order to show everyone my style of play, I simply prepared really hard for my matches. Although I was eliminated from all of the individual leagues, I wasn’t dissatisfied with my performance. I’m in a state where I can now concentrate more on Proleague. It’s a relief that a burden has been lifted off my back. [T/N: +500 newfound respect points for free here.]
Q: Your manager Lee Jae Kyun shaved his head, but the other teammates did not. Is there a reason for this?
A: I think that the players weren’t in a position where they could cut their hair. Since we appear a lot on TV, I think that if we shaved our heads, it would cause a lot of unpleasant feelings for everyone. Although I am sorry towards our manager, in order to not make another situation like this happen again, we’ll show solid results from here on.
Q: There has been a lot of talk about if HiyA advanced to the Round of 8 in the OSL, you would shave your head.
A: HiyA made that speech during the OSL group selection and even though I know we promised each other on it, that would mean that I would have to retire and disappear from the scene altogether with a shaved head. Instead of doing that, I will do whatever ceremony HiyA wishes for me to do. If the commentators and casters would know about this proposed change in plan, then that would be great. It would also be great if HiyA did well in the OSL. I want to see him bring his good results from the Starleague to the Proleague and raise his team’s score. [T/N: Lmfao, he said this in a much more polite tone, like simply wishing for HiyA to do well both in the OSL and Proleague, but I couldn’t help myself and twisted his words to sound like they were dripping with venom for HiyA… The power of manipulating words! Kekeke]
Q: Your resolution before facing off STX.
A: In the 1st round, they were a team we won against with a 4:0 record. However, we are not in a situation where we can relax now. Although we haven’t practiced that much, by practicing at the last moment, I want to start off the 3rd round with a 2 win winning record. [T/N: Ouch, this explains why Woongjin lost to STX earlier… :S]
Q: Your thoughts on wanting to play around on Christmas
A: Since I became older, I no longer have such thoughts like wanting to play around anymore. However, taking a day off for Christmas could have had a negative impact on me, and since our team also thought that having a day off wouldn’t be a good idea, we decided to practice hard for our matches instead. It was around 10:00 at night when my teammates finally said Merry Christmas to each other. Until then, nobody uttered a single word about Christmas. We spent Christmas like any other ordinary day and did our usual same old routine. Since we practiced with our best efforts and ended our losing streak, I’m really happy. Since the heavens also seemed like they were helping us out, if we continue to have a winning streak from now on, that would be really great. [T/N: A pity that Woongjin couldn’t spend their Christmas in a more enjoyable way, but at least their workaholic’s attitude paid off and they won! Nothing is better as a Christmas present than victory. :D]
Q: Any last words?
A: Coach SONJJANG has recently received his second daughter. Even though you couldn’t come to our match today, if you think of our victory we got today as a Christmas gift to you, that would make us really happy.
