go figure, search function wasn't returning correct query; I researched just to make sure I don't get flamed for reposting, this info was already available; you can lock it or delete the post =-) later

I didn't find info on the 2011 specific tournament schedule here so I lurked around a bit and found this on the gomtv forums. I am not sure whether anyone or only paying customers can see this so I thought I'd relay the information here.

http://www.gomtv.net/2010gslopens3/news/301

2011 GSL Tour

- Code S : 32 players ranked from 1~32
- Code A : 32 players ranked from 33~64(4 recommended foreign players will be seeded, mainly winners of other worldwide tournaments)
- Code B : 172 players that are not in Code S or Code A and are the top ranked players from the Diamond League in the Korean Battle.net server. (Foreign players can always compete in the Preliminary Rounds for Code A disregarding their ladder point.)
- Interaction between Code A and Code S : Up and Down matches
- Interaction between Code B and Code A : Preliminary Rounds for Code A

Broadcast

- Code S : Starts 8pm KST (GMT+9)
- Code A : Starts 6pm KST (GMT+9)

Point Ranking

- Ro8 ~ Finals Tournament (Ro8 : best of 3, Semifinals : best of 5, Finals : best of 7)
- One group will play each day.
- Players who advance to Ro16 will remain in Code S.

How come code B is only for diamond level players on the Korean server but even American Bronze league noob can participate in code A preliminaries? I know a lot of fantastic players who never ladder so they're in platinum so I'm sure there are similar cases in Korea

They're just trying to get more foreign attention. How many foreign bronze players do you expect to spend > 1000$ to go to Korea only to be guaranteed to be knocked out of a tournament first round?

Would be awesome if we could get some TL up in there!

Then such a 'fantastic player' should be able to invest 20 games into laddering to land diamond.
I know it only took about that long for me to get there, and I'd probably lose in the first round of any half-serious tournament.

Agreed.

The schedule is looking really good, more tournaments should keep the players in korea actively working and some cash flowing. The invitationals and all are the cherry on the cake, different formats are good to switch things up and SC2 won't just be limited to seasonal leagues.
