So here's a REALLY strange issue. I'd appreciate any ideas anyone might have. Here's the problem:
The EG Master cup stream on djwheat's ustream is jittering all over the place. Not lag, just the images flying all over the screen in the video. I've never seen this problem before and I watch ustream constantly. Also the ads are fine, just the stream isn't. Really strange. (I'm on a mac) What I've tried:
1. Tried multiple browsers, firefox, chrome etc. Same issue. 2. Tried rebooting. 3. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling flash and browser plugins 4. Tried youtube videos, they work fine 5. Here's the weirdest issue. I tried some other ustream live videos and they are fine. 6. Tried on a windows PC, works fine.
Weirdest issue ever.

Is your windows PC connect via ethernet and Mac wireless? It might be your bandwidth playing up. Check if any programs are running scans or taking bandwidth.
|
I'm getting almost no latency with 25mbit down and 1mbit up which is what I usually get. It really doesn't look like a bandwidth issue. It's not lagging, the units are just jittering all over the place, and day9's looks like he's having an epileptic seizure.
|
...maybe he is having a seizure It was probably actually just the stream lagging and not you then. Just heard that they just 'fixed' some lag by SjoW hosting.
|
Nah, it's not the stream. It's been going on for hours, I asked in the stream, and it works fine on my windows PC. I've uploaded a video so you can see what it looks like:

...wow. That looks awful, didn't think it would be like that lol. Well, as I can hear your sound is fine, so it must be the software. Think the stream is Adobe Flash Player 10, maybe updating/reinstalling this may work. Otherwise I have no clue. Sorry
|
Same problem here, the video is shaky. Sound is fine, stream is fine just the graphics are jumping. (Also on a mac here) Have seen it before on an other DJwheat event stream, maybe something with his encoding that doesnt like apple-computers. If you find a solution, I woule be pleased to hear.
Edit: Cant be the bandwidth, watching an other ustream stream right now fine and still have 8mbit on speedcheck.
|
I'm glad to hear someone else is seeing it too. It must be something specific to his encoding method or something that displays incorrectly on Macs. Super strange. Out of curiosity, what OS / hardware are you using? I'm on 10.6.5 on a macbook pro i5 15"

wierd...Im on a macbook pro i5 with no problems I watch from TL.

Use safari, then it works. I tried everything to make it work and the easiest thing (using safari instead of firefox or chrome) was right in the end. Stupid us...
Hopefully using safari works for you too, thanks anyway.

Doesn't help.
Stream works on my MBP, but not my mac mini. Doesn't matter which browser.
|
OS Versions?
Safari doesn't work either for me.
|
Haha wow, so I'm actually watching it on Windows 7 through parallels and it works almost perfectly. The only problem is that it's got a slight video/audio desync. I actually can't believe this works.

I believe I figured out a fix for the stuttering problem some people are having!!
First, open another ustream stream that you know works. I find glhf right now works great. Start the stream then create a new tab.
Goto your choice of website, ustream.tv/channel/djwheat, djwheat.tv, g4tv.com or whatever.
Load djwheats stream.
It should be working properly now. Close your other tab and enjoy!
---
I've tested this on 2 different connections an 4 computers with the stuttering problema nd it works perfectly on all of them.
If I close the browser and try to load the djwheat stream alone, without first loading another stream in a background tab, it goes back to crazy stuttering.
Good luck!

Bumblebees, what browser did you test this with? I tried it with chrome and it doesn't work.
|
Yeah doesn't work in Safari either.

Safari, firefox and opera.
I'm getting 50/50 reports of it working and not working
|
Yeah I've tested on Firefox, Chrome and Safari and it doesn't work

It's also pretty infuriating that you have to watch a stupid ad every single time you refresh or try something new.... That 30 second long one with the dresses and stuff is making me twitch with rage lol.
