just like the sign says.
But to the point StarCraft and it's players form a very strong community but is it getting soft. Hackers plague Battle.Net but IMO SC is the haven. And with WarCraft III and the rumors of a expansion(atleast that I know of), do you think SC will become like WC2 bnet edition just 200 players? And don't forget the GoSu's that are surfacing in this game that has so much new tactics, playing elements and interactiveness(word?).
What does everyone think?

i belive this has been addressed previously in the forum a few times. ^_^

uh, no? the people who dont like warcraft 3 arent going to like a war3 expansion.
|
Compare how many users are on War3 and how many are on SC, youll see that war3 is not a threat.
I think Bnet should take notes from gamei and remove the hack threat once and for all. Gamei is pretty damn secure.

yeah, there are ways to get past gamei system, but most of those people who hack are too damn stupid to know it. And the people who know how to do it, are smart enough to be good at the game. So it all comes out even ^_^

The ONLY thing that can kill the Starcraft community is Starcraft 2. There's no question about that.
Now... as to whether SC2 will kill the Starcraft community by being AMAZING or just being trash like WC3. That's what we need to worry about.

IMHO StarCraft is like chess. It will be played forever.

interesting...
chess is better tho

"IGN Favorite PC Games of All Time Posted by XG3 on Saturday, January 18 @ 21:45:39 EST
IGN recently went through their users database and tallied up all of the games people listed as their favorite game of all time, and listed the top ten. Using data gathered from our own users.ign.com collection tracker, we have compiled a set of brand-new lists for your perusal. The Top 10 Most Popular Games charts only include games that have been released. The list is current as of January 17 and is based on a combination of total occurrences and rating value of games on your collection lists. The list: Starcraft Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos Half-Life The Sims Starcraft: Brood War Diablo II Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast Unreal Tournament Diablo II: Lord of Destruction Roller Coaster Tycoon That's right, Starcraft and Brood War made #1 and #5, respectively. This is from the favorite lists of over 45,000 people. Also, 50% of the games on the list are developed by Blizzard. "

Like chess, but probably only in korea. Most of our fellow North Americans are to stupid to understand what makes a good game. I doupt sc2 will be good. SC/BW will probably be the most strategic and macroing, mass expanding high speed playing game ever.
Really good RTS gamers are in the minority here, companies that make games can't aim them towards our needs because there is not enough of us. Enstead they have to aim towards the average/noob gamers to make enough money to prophit off of. Thats why you see things like 5 peons needed in war3, upkeep, heros leveling, not much expansions. AS well 3d graphics and 12 players max allowing supply maxes of 90. People would much rather buy a game hearing it has 12 players, really good graphics and easy going RPG like heros.
But who knows, electrical games are still pretty new in our culture so sports and board games (things that have been around for ages) will be more dominant. Not saying these are bad things, i love hockey and chess myself. Progaming will be more recognized in years to come.
Blizzard is a great company they made Starcraft. But they were under pressure because they did not want to make another game like SC, they tried to mix the heros and good-sounding things like Graphics for higher prophet and so they messed up. They are not going to admit it because that would lower their sales. But trust me, they know they messed up.

hi everybody, im AndiBallone and im new at this forum ^^
i think Hydrone is right, Blizz is knocking his head against a wall for making wc3 so bad... and not satisfied with that they r preparing such a shit like SC: Ghost
|
I doubt that andiballone. Wc3 was a humongous success. wasnt it the quickest selling game of all time or something?
|
i have no idea, however, they (blizz) know that wc3 wont succed like Sc did
|
Starcraft probably will die, but not for years.
|
i agree with Punkskeleton: Sc its like Chess... Eternal
|
|
yep, urgently
|
Blizz has no people working on sc anymore, they got a large portion of their company working on SC ghost and world of Warcraft, not to mention any other non-info-released games. Plus they are still working on 1.10 for d2. And with all the bug fixing going into war3... and oops, did I forget? All the energy and time going into a w3 expansion?
A sc patch would be nice, but I wouldn't count on it... I think the best to wish for is SC2 to be good, if there will even be one.
