TLO and HuK to Blizzcon, 22nd - 23rd Oct 2010
As everyone already knows, TLO and HuK will be in Anaheim this weekend at Blizzcon 2010. Both Liquidians are coming straight out of a tourney week, and will be pumped and ready to perform. Join them, and many other TLers on stream this weekend (and win a t-shirt as usual) as our finest go for the gold at the largest international gathering of Starcraft nerds!
While you wait though, here's what our two heroes have to say about the event.
Hi Dario. It's been a tough week with GSL not going as planned, but Blizzcon is on the horizon. Looking forward to it?
Of course I'm not happy with my result at GSL at all, but I am more than stoked about going to Blizzcon, I can't wait to get there really! And it's my first time in the US so thats exciting too
Oh, nice! What are you looking forward to the most?
Having a 2nd chance right away after GSL! Oh and besides that there are many things I am looking forward to, meeting the other Liquid guys and other players again.
You're playing Sen first round - any thoughts about that? Anyone else in particular you'd like to face?
Sen is a very strong opponnent so I have to give my very best to beat him. I am fine with any opponent just bring it on and I will see how it goes^^
Can we expect to see you at the TL meetup?
It's gonna be great, we had great fun at the TL meetup in Cologne and I am sure it will be legendary again^^
While TLers have been attending them for years, this is your first Blizzcon, and you're going as an invitee, no less. What do you hope to take away from this whole experience?
I hope to get far in the tournament, have a lot of fun and grow as a player. I am grateful for every event I can go to. It's always a good experience no matter how you do in the competition.
Thanks for taking the time to talk to us, Dario. Good luck and see you on stream!
Thanks to bunk.habit for the picture.
Hello, HuK! As the only player to nab a podium position in every major North American tournament so far, you must be pretty happy with yourself. How was MLG DC when compared to Raleigh and IEM NY?
Good I think it was my favorite event thus far in NA despite getting 3rd, the hotel was awesome, fans great, players all really nice, and staff extremely helpful.
If there was one thing you'd change about how you played your series against Idra what would it be, and in general, what did you take away from the entire tourney?
Be more aggressive without engaging in a losing battle, overall I just need to be more prepared outside of gameplay (sleep, comfortable, warmup etc.). As well as improving my play obviously.
You'd think a break would be nice for you guys, but this week you're gonna be diving straight into Blizzcon. How does it feel to be heading to the capital of nerd world?
LOL, about time I guess. I hear blizzcon is a really great event and they take care of players like no one else so I am ready for that.
What about meeting Aldaris? Isn't that a long time dream of yours, especially after having him at your right hand all these years online? I hear he is MC at many Blizzcon events.
For sure I think I will be to shy to approach him though, hopefully Nazgul can introduce me to him since I heard they are long time friends.
Yes, that's right - Naz and TLO will be there. Based on your experiences in Cologne, what are you most looking forward to about getting to hang with them again?
Well it is first time to meet as a team, so I'm looking forward to talking secret strategies, plans for the future, and how we are going to dominate sc2 of course
Indeed. Liquid fighting! Gogo HuK, good luck for Blizzcon as well, and we hope you have a blast and own some face.
Ret 4 - 2 Naniwa at SC2Casts.com KOTH #4 - Event Finished
Our Dutch Zerg in residence beat Naniwa 4 - 2 yesterday to become the SC2Casts.com King of the Hill. It's great to see Jos back in online events and we look forward to seeing more and more of him in the months to come.
TLO at GSL Open #2 Ro64 - Event Finished
Alas, fan favourite and TL's own TLAF-Liquid`TLO was taken out in the GSL Open #2 Ro64 by Korean Protoss Sangho. Though disappointed at his performance, TLO is currently readying himself for Blizzcon and looks forward to bringing the hurt as he heads to Starcraft central this weekend.
oGs win GOM Team Invite League - Event Finished
A rampaging oGs led by oGsGon and JangMinChul took out Werra in the Finals of the GOM Team Invite Tournament last Saturday to take home the first prize of 3,000,000 won (approximately 2660 $USD).
Top and Minchul delivered for oGs.
"Not that I don't have respect for team WeRRa, but I really found the semi finals vs TSL (cool/tester's team) the real finals of this tournament," said Hwang "Spunky" Kyu Hoon, Manager of oGs. "It meant a lot to me because it is really a big task to beat a team that has players who used to be ex-oGs and are still at the top of their game."
Spunky said that having taken first place at the Team Invite, oGs is now focusing heavily on the GSL. "I feel great and I hope everyone from TL will look foward to more oGs rampage in GSL! Right now we have 7 out of our 9 guys who made it up to top 32 and we will try to maintain that number for the top 16 as well! Thanks to all the fans, keep rooting for oGs!"
For a first hand account of the events leading up to the Minchul's 3-kill of Werra, see Rekrul's A Glimpse into SC2 Progaming.
I couldn't decide wtf I wanted to do so I just lazy'd around. Then everybody left and before leaving, MinChul told me "Dan Hyung u were snoring like crazy last night I couldn't sleep!!!" I apologized.
HuK Placed 3rd / Tyler Placed 6th at MLG DC - Event Finished
North America's home grown Protoss destroyer bagged his third podium position in as many tournaments last weekend when he placed 3rd in the MLG Pro Circuit at DC. A tourney to remember, for TLAF-Liquid`HuK, MLG DC proved to be yet another stepping stone on a path that leads to Korea.
TLAF-Liquid`Tyler, though missing a podium position, bettered his MLG Raleigh performance by ending up in 6th place. Playing in his first major tournament since starting his SC2 career, TLAF-Liquid`Ret did not place high at DC. However, with one live event under his belt and more to come, we're sure that Ret will soon be in a position to settle down and play the solid, consistent Starcraft he was known for during his Broodwar career.
If you didn't get to catch last weekend's action, you can always check out the TL News recap of the event and of course, grab the replay pack and watch your favourite players at your leisure.

This awesome canvas is courtesy of our favourite paintbrush, pachi!
How Do I enter?
1) Grab the cheerful template seen above.
2) Make a cheerful for TLO or HUK!
3) Use it in the Live Report thread for Blizzcon Invitational 2010 Day 1. Posting your cheerful in this (The Liquid Weekly) thread will not count as an official contest entry.
A Cheerful? What's that?
Cheerfuls are fan made placards which Korean progamers traditionally display in their booths when they play on live TV. Here at TL, we use them in LR threads to support players and teams we like.
