STATUS : YES SIR YES SIR, OMG IS BACK IN BLACK AND ROCKING OUT SOME AWESOME TOTALLY LAG-FREE 1080P VIDEOS! STAY TUNED !.
Status update! I'm back, and doing my thing! OMG has become 100% lagfree, and with a new format ! I am now talking about the games as im playing them, and then right after the game re-watching that very same replay and doing more indepth analysis ! Watch OMGv2 Episode 1 for a brief intro.
Episode 6 and 7 are uploaded !
Introduction Hello guys, and welcome to my show "OMG WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING". Here i will upload first person videos of myself playing against various random opponents, and then commentating on the videos to see what i did wrong and could have done better.
Background So my name is Div, and i've played Starcraft for a looooong time. Funny part is, i never got any good. Man, you think all those hundreds of hours spent watching progamers and replays and whatnot would actually make me somewhat of a decent player - it didn't. So here i am, playing games MYSELF, in a desperate try of reaching that top part of the diamond league. Hey hey, watch out, here comes Div ! At the very moment i'm somewhat of a platinum league player. I bash gold players pretty good, but when i finally advance up to diamond and start playing against those people, i get absolutely stomped. The goal of this show is not only to provide you guys with some fun and exciting games to watch, but also to actually force myself to think more indepth about my play.
So, the first few episodes have been uploaded to YouTube now. I've got 6 episodes already complete, and i'm aiming to have about 10 complete by the end of the day - so stay tuned ! Also, make sure you watch the videos in HD.
I appreciate any feedback at all - whether it's concerning my videos or if it's concerning my playstyle. Please note that english is my 3rd language, so i'm still feeling a lite awkward doing these commentaries (this is my first time!). I hope that'll be better with time though. Anyways, i hope you enjoy it !

Watched like 2 episodes,
I like the laid backness of the FPVOD's, You could try casting from the replays instead with ultra graphics on to lure stray youtubians with the shiny-hd-things.
As far as your playstyle goes, you play way to passive for my liking and you aren't scouting as much as you should.
However that might just be me disliking turtling terrans (I basically have too since I'm a Toss player)
Also I think walling against terrans is kinda risky as that makes the depots easier to pick off by early marauder pressure or such..
That being said you far surpassed my expectations from clicking on this thread, and if you actually learn from this experience I'm all for it!

Looking forward to doing more games today!

love the thors in TvT.. ill try that out. btw what do you use to capture for the stream?
|
I kinda love thors aswell, but alot of times it feels they just arent the best unit to use at a given situation. I use camtasia to record and edit, and virtualdub for compression.

Nice to have new Starcraft2 content. You definitely start with the bang with 7 episodes right away
I watched only your first episode for now, due to time contraints, so I can't comment on other episodes.
I like your voice and calm talking. Explaining your actions was also coherent and understandable. However, sometimes you jumped back and forward in "time" and mentioned things that will happen even though I didn't find them relevant to mention at that point. After all, as a player you couldn't know those things either, so it couldn't affect your decisions.
I think it would be better for the analysis and following of the action if you used replays instead of game recording. That would allow you to concentrate on and show to spectators the situations you are talking about. Player usually has focus on very different things than spectator that watches analysis. Also video seemed laggy for me on that episode at times.
Keep up with doing your program and I'm sure you get some minor issues polished. I'm going to watch more episodes later

You say walling off doesn't make a difference in TvT, but it really does.
If both you and your opponent get tanks, he can siege up and destroy your wall, but you can't hit him, because you're stuck behind it.

I disagree with the people who have suggested that you cast from replays rather than FPVODs. Assessing whether you're paying attention to the right things during a game is a key part of improving your play. FPVODs let you do that, whereas it's harder to judge from replays. Keep doing more of the same, it's great!
|
I can't stress enough how much your feedback matters to me, guys. This is the first time *ever* i do something like this, and upload any video on YouTube, so i'm really hyped that some of you seem to like it and have actually watched my game. I'm looking for comments on the [OMG] Blog aswell !

Checking out some of your content. Thanks for posting!

Yes, I agree that it is sometimes important to be aware what hero was doing at a some specific time. But doesn't replay have possibility to choose player camera. That would provide tool to show what hero was doing and looking at, but replay would also provide a lot of other useful tools for presentative analysis.

Episode 8 up for you guys to watch. Time for bed now, i think. Good night !

So im having some problems with recording the 1080p videos on my stationary rig, not sure why. It's pretty much as good as my laptop, even a tad better. I want to at least have the game on "Medium" visual settings, and not play on Low, but despite that - the recordings just seem to lag an awful lot. Any tips?
Edit : My laptop is actually pretty good, with an i5 processor and GT5650 GFX card. The screen is just too small to let me play in 1920x1080 .. So i want to do it on my stationary box, which is pretty much the same configs.
Edit 2 : So i just read through some specs of other casters, like HD. Those computers are mosters compared to mine. I think for the time being, i'm doomed to record in "Low" graphics settings, like when i play. :-( sorry guys !
What do you think is better? 720p at medium or high graphics, or 1080p at low ?
|
Alright so i decided to cast from my laptop for the nearest few days, just until i can figure out how to successfully record in HD on my stationary rig. Stay tuned the next couple of hours for episodes 8-10 where i get bashed as i play zerg. Ew.

It does, but it doesn't show what your cursor is doing. It's a pretty surreal experience, watching the camera jerk around, watching things get selected, but never seeing the cursor. The FPVOD format is pretty neat because you see exactly what he was doing at the time, plus I can't think of anyone else who's using it, which makes it a pretty novel experience.
