Since many people here are not familiar with Asian guys, I decide to make a very brief introduciton to them. Players are roughly ranked A,B,C and D, and groups are estimated as Very Strong, Strong, Overall Good, Average and Weak. Keep in mind that players in lower ranks do not auto lose to those in higher ranks, and some ppl may greatly improve or drop due to many factors.
---- Group Beijing ------ (Strong) (bratOK's here) - Duskbin.Sen (Z) A+ Famous non-korean starcraft player, and now No.1 non-korean zerg in SC2. Very strong at Zerg vs Protoss matchup.
- oGs.SlayerBoxer (T) A Aka NcYellow, said to be a Boxer fan from Korea. Formidable Terran good at micro. Awesome dropship play can always be seen in his games. (added by GTR: aka IntoTheRainBOw , former teammate of boxer)
- E3_Super (P) C+ ex-sc pro using Terran. Strong at Protoss vs Terran. Needs to improve in many ways.
---- Group Shanghai ----- (weak) (WhitRa's here)
- Panda.ACE (P) B ex-war3 semi-pro, one of top SC2 players in China. Strong at micro/strat, weak at macro.
- Prime.Check (Z) B+ ex-war3 pro from Korea, strong at micro, but relatively weak at macro.
- MnM.Empty (T) C- Terran from mainland China. Not solid enough.
----- Group Shenyang ------ (Average) (Idra here)
- oGs.Leeraeun (Z) A+ Old SC1 pro Sir@Soni(added by FrozenArbiter, thx), Korean zerg from the No.1 Starcraft 2 clan oGs. Formidable player good at almost everything.
- Duskbin.F91 (Z) B- Well known SC pro form China yet has pretty poor performance in SC2 events. Needs to improve in many ways to become solid.
- S.C_WAWP (T) Unkown Can be seen in World Cup Finals because PJ gave away his place.
----- Group Xian -------(overall good) (Dimaga here)
- Panda.Loner (T) B No.1 SC2 Terran player in China. Aged 19, lacks competitive experience.
- Prime.Cezzane (Z) A+ Aka ToSky[S.G] (added by GTR), ex-sc pro, another formidable zerg from Korean.
- Beckham (P) B- Ex-SC pro using zerg, now working at a company and only plays SC2 in spare time. Good at macro.
------ Group Guangzhou ----- (very strong) (no eu/us player here)
- Prime.Freedom (Z) A+ (maybe S) Talented player good at SC (msl top 32) ,WC3 (wcg championship) and poker. Among the favourites to win the tournament. Remains unbeatable to non-koreans in SC2 tourneys yet get rolled by many many korean players.
- oGs.Zenio (Z) A+ One more korean Zerg. Needless to say more. ( The following info is added by FrozenArbiter: ) Ex-WC3 player, one of the first players to distinguish himself on the asian server in the early weeks of beta. Only WC3 player who finished top 4 in the PGR21 tournament (the others were ex-SC pros TheWind, Cool[Fou] - aka fruittrader - and Sir@Soni).
- E3_Fengzi (Z) A- ex-SC pro, No.1 zerg in mainland China. Needs better understanding of the game and more smart play.
- SCI)_W_Y_W (Z) C+ Very old SC pro from China. Not that good at Starcraft 2.
------ Group Taipei --------- (Strong) (Nazgul here)
- Prime.Maka (T) A A.K.A. Townhall an ex wc3 player (added by Holcan), Korean Terran especially good at Terran vs Zerg matchup. Strong at micro and overall good at other aspects.
- Prime.Anypro (P) A Top Korean protoss.
- V.A_xiaOt (P) B- ex-wc3 pro from China, famous in WC3 circles. Lack coherence in long matches.
------ Group Chengdu ------ (very Strong) (HayPrO here)
- oGs.水果贩子 (Z) A+ Aka cool[fou]. Ex-SC pro from Team eStro. Not having a successful SC pro career yet turning out as a beast in SC2. Amongst the favorites to win this tourney.
- oGs.sSKS (P) A+ Aka Tester[gm] (added by GTR, thx ). One of the best protoss in Clan oGs.
- Star.NewLife (P) B- A SC2 fan selected from 17173.com forum. Maybe the weakest player in the event.
------- Group Wuhan--------- (weak) (TheLittleOne here)
- Prime.DayFly (T) A- The Orc King from Korean. Smart and very offensive play. Not as solid in Macro.
- S.C_PJ (T) C+ Famous Chinese starcraft player. Now working as management of a Pro Team in China. Not that good in SC2 scene.
- V.A_MTY (T) C+ Very old starcraft gamer from China, wcg 2v2 championship. Not that good in SC2 as well.
Edit1:
Note: The player ranking is a sketchy one based maily on the players' performance in China's events, especailly those held by 17173.com, it can not depict the accurate skill level differences between players. For example, freedom got rolled by maka many times, but he had a splendid peformance in China, therefore he ranked S. Maka on the other side did not do so well as Freedom did, he even lost to super(P) and got eliminated in the previous event before WC.
Edit2:
Rankings of some players chaged: ssks and cezzane are promoted from A to A+ for they kept unbeatable in Korean qualifiers.
Edit3:
The 'S' ranking has been cancelled to avoid confusion and misunderstanding. Most rankings have been tuned down to further distinguish the skill level differences between players, including check from A- to B+, dayfly from A to A-.
Edit4:
Newlife are promoted from D to B-. Confuse him and another player from 17173.com forum.

A brief introduction to Asian guys in this group:
----- Group Xian -------(overall good) (Dimaga here)
- Panda.Loner (T) B+ No.1 SC2 Terran player in China. Aged 19, lack competitive experience. Goot at TvP while weak at TvZ.
- Prime.Cezzane (Z) A Another formidable zerg from Korean.
- Beckham (P) B Ex-SC pro from China (using zerg), now working at a company. Only plays SC2 in spare time. Good at macro.

I'm not saying that players like maka are not as good as freedom, in fact, I know that freedom got rolled by maka many times.

You are saying that players like Maka are not as good when you give them lower rankings. lol

From what I heard, Maka's TvP is his weakest match-up. If he gets through his world cup bracket (3 Protoss) tomorrow, I think it'd be fair to say that he's A+.
Also, I don't think there are any S players at the moment. To be S, you have to be more or less undefeated against non-S players, and I don't think that's true for any player.

sSKS is Tester though
sSKS 과일장수
Those two are non comparable to any other koreans. I think they can be considered as S rank.

I'll add some bits;
- oGs.Leeraeun (Z) A+ Korean zerg from the No.1 Starcraft 2 clan oGs. Formidable player good at almost everything
Old SC1 pro Sir@Soni, did pretty well in the big PGR21 tournament last month (top 4 I think).
- oGs.Zenio (Z) A+ One more korean Zerg. Needless to say more. Ex-WC3 player, one of the first players to distinguish himself on the asian server in the early weeks of beta. Only WC3 player who finished top 4 in the PGR21 tournament (the others were ex-SC pros TheWind, Cool[Fou] - aka fruittrader - and Sir@Soni).
- oGs.sSKS (P) A Aka ToSky[S.G]. One of the best protoss in Clan oGs. I believe sSKS is Tester, ex-SC pro from the eStro team.
- V.A_MTY (T) B- Very old starcraft gamer from China, wcg 2v2 championship. Not that good in SC2 as well. He finished 2nd in the first ever WC3 WCG as well, playing under the ID "chinahuman", if I'm not mistaken.

So if I'm not mistaken, based on what I've learned in this thread.
Korean "S" players
과일장수 (oGs) - Zerg - Cool sSKS (oGs) - Protoss - TesteR
"A" players
Freedom (oGs) - Zerg Check (Prime) - Zerg Cezanne (Prime) - Zerg - ToSky Leeraeun (oGs) - Zerg - SiR@SoNi Zenio (oGs) - Zerg Maka (Prime) - Terran SlayersBoxer (oGs) - Terran - RainBOw Dayfly (Prime) - Terran Anypro (Prime) - Protoss
+ Sen, Whitera, TheLittleOne, Idra
"B" players
Dimaga, BratOK, Haypro
|
nono s players - ex sc1 players a players - ex sc1 players b players - non koreans with sc1 experience c players - non koreans d players - koreans ive never heard of before
id like to add that maka is A.K.A. Townhall an ex wc3 player.
|
I would say players like dimaga and BratOK could very well be A-. Best European Zerg and Terran. I doubt people like Check and Dayfly are better than them. Also Haypro can be A- too, but he hasn't been playing so brightly since he won that tournament.

BratOK really cant be considered best euro terran with demuslim and lucifron existing I don't think

I don't believe he was rating the non-asian players at all. The ([name] is here) comments are to show which group particular players are in for this tournament, NOT which players they are letter ranked w/.

Clearly I beg to differ. Demuslim is of course a contender, but I would count Lucifron out right away.

Care to educate me? Edit: By that I mean, what makes you think he's the best.
