Pony Express Issue 98: Oct. 26 - Nov. 2, 2009.

This weeks game is gonna be iloveoov vs savior on Into the Darkness
I remember watching this game and thinking, whoa, who the hell is this savior guy and how can he dismantle the monster that is oov this easily, it shocked me, and it was the first time I really heard of savior and boy did it stick, I never would have guessed he would go on to roll everyone for such a long period of time, I call it the dark age of tvz !

oov spawns at the top right part of the map, and savior takes the bottom left for himself, all seems well in the kingdoms of zerg and terran as they send their peons to mine the precious ore.


Just look at em, already macroing like a champ !

But alas, all is not as it seems, as Savior sends out his first overlord in the correct scouting direction, oov sends out his scv with trickery on his mind, he starts a proxy barracks hoping the catch the slimy one off guard, but who would have guessed it, a drone chances upon the hapless barracks and forces a cancel, the game has just started and oov is already in the hole. After his great victory, Savior is content to just expand.


What kind of tomfoolery is this, the macro terran rushing ?!!


It appears to be some form of expansion or something along those lines, fascinating indeed.

After his rush attempt is thwarted, oov starts a refinery and a barracks at the same time, no doubt cursing something about map hacking under his breath, soon after his barracks are constructed and enough gas is gathered, a factory can be spied going up near his ramp, savior puts down a 3rd hatchery at his expansion choke and a pool.

Savior decides to start his lair tech with mutas on his mind to punish the insolent terran for his rush attempt, oov meanwhile decides to start his natural expansion, hoping he can get in on some of that sweet sweet oov macro that everyone is talking about.


Lairs aren't all that bad, I have nothing against lairs, I wish zergs stayed at lair longer.


If you thought he was macroing before, just look out now !

oov's marine count is low due to his failed proxy rax and his fac opening, and savior takes perfect advantage of that as he runs in a bunch of speedlings and takes out his newly formed expansion while expanding once more himself, things look grim for our simian friend.

Now im no progamer, but when I get bashed by D people over at icc, 3 zerg bases to 1 terran is never a good thing.

At this point those mutas mentioned earlier finally take to the sky and start cruising for a bruising (oh my, why do dumb things stick in my mind). They soon arrive at the terran base and are met with a wall of turrets, seeing that there are no scv kills to be had they start killing marines, they are cold cold bastards and they don't care who they kill, as long as killing is being done !
Oov meanwhile, while not busy losing his marines to mutas is trying to tech up to vessels and set up his natural expansion again, oov no expo, oov no macro, banana ? ( i just love that joke )


Only with the implementation of my " guns to CC's " program can scenarios like this be stopped.


Mutas, what can a man say about mutas that hasn't been said before, hm, they kinda look like dragons or something, weird dragons, actually they arent much like dragons at all..

Savior is all over the map, looks at those red dots go, he has some spare APM so he decides to use that for teching purposes, a queens nest is going up, and you know what that means !? (except that I just vomited a little) thats right, hive time, I sure hate hive time. Oov has meanwhile managed to macro up a sizable enough force to try and retake his natural from 3 barracks, but not without constant muta harass.

Man those mutas look annoying, il have to keep that in mind next time I play savior

Just as oov moves out with a bunch of marines to finally secure his expo a whole bunch of imba comes rolling towards his troops, zerglings, mutas, and a quick surround make short work of the poor ex cons and oovs expansion attempt is thwarted once more, it is a sad day for the macro terran, and to add insult to injury, his fancy new cc gets shot down while menacingly floating near some minerals.

Once again the game consists of oov trying to macro up enough forces to expand and tech, while savior is saturating his 3rd base and is up to no good with that which must not be named ( hive tech for all you non terran players ) Soon a defiler mound is seen going up paired with a greater spire, in fear of what is about to happen I alt tab and watch some care bear clips to calm myself.

Oovs tech that I forgot to post earlier !

Rawr, yells oov and decapitates a nearby banana with his powerful jaw, he has finally managed to take his natural, what could possibly stop him know, the man who could macro from 10 rax even though he has only 5. He fortifies his entrance with a bunker, all is well, except for those guardians killing the dudes at his expansion . Savior decides to seal the deal with one more expansion and a ultra cavern)


does not bode well.


Good thing there were no ultras this game, not even the care bears would help if they were.

Oov decides to give one last twitch of resistance as he moves all of his mnm and some vessels out hoping to punish saviors insolence, but he is soon greated with some lurkers that savior obviously got while I was watching those care bear clips, and with some guardians backstabbing the poor mnm, they soon become a stain on the floor.

Last week on " oov moves out " oov moved out, now join us for the conclu.. oh my god, spikes, spikes everywhere arrrghh.

All that is left now is to attack move into oovs expansion and end it. This game made me sad, but savior did a nice job of not letting oov expand and get his macro mojo working, but one cant help but wonder, how would it have played out had that hacker drone not spotted the proxy.
