ALL genres welcome from power metal to death metal! (Please, no Nu bashing :D)
I'm mainly doing this to see how many metalheads we have on TL. I glanced at some music threads (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=48329) and saw considerable amounts of metal bands, so i thought there was at least some interest.
So.....metalheads unite! Lets crush the KPOP thread :D

as of now, my favorite metal bands are.... Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Disturbed, Eternal Tears of Sorrow, Slipknot, Stratovarius, Iced Earth, Black Sabbath, Falconer, Mastodon, Shadows Fall, Opeth, Symphony X, Rage Against the Machine, Judas Priest, and a ton of other bands....
BTW, Megadeth's new album Endgame is being released soon, but they are streaming the songs on the MySpace music player thingy...(http://www.myspace.com/megadeth) I took a listen, and it was pretty damn good IMO. I'll probably get it when it comes out. My only problem with Megadeth is that Dave Mustaine sounds like he has a continual cold, but I guess some people like that.
Iron Maiden - Hallowed Be Thy Name is the best heavy metal song ever. Dream Theater - Octavarium just may be the best thing written in like the last decade.
Beyond that I mostly listen to power/prog/symphonic metal from Europe, stuff like Sonata Arctica, Nightwish, and Stratovarius.
Can't stand metal that has a lot of screaming/growling/etc. Would love Epica if it wasn't polluted with all those death grunts.
As much as I'd like to crush Kpop and and as much as I'd like to adhere to your no-nu-bashing rule the first reply to your heavy metal topic already includes Avenged Sevenfold.
of course he relies on the old "jazz and metal" line in order to try to save his pseudojazz band whose only similarity with metal is the distorted guitar
