He and SnB were mason'd survivors, but he started off the game with this post claiming he was the recruitment officer for House Chezinu. House Chezinu was completely made up. The discussion around it was great, but from his own survivor point of view, when they claimed (together with everybody else), it made it highly unlikely they would get lynched or shot (except by the wild plan I had to lynch SnB to verify the claim it seemed pretty inconceivable that they were scum). In addition, it was a fun and interesting play from someone who could have just coasted by on his role: as Drazerk said later in the game, you just claim D1 and get town to shoot/lynch one of you. The other one just afk's out the rest of the game
Thanks
By the way, Hiro and S&B weren't mason'd. They were just connected, but they couldn't communicate.

Nominating VisceraEyes and marvelosity on Movie Star Mini Mafia for Best Blooper.
Just because.

I am not sure this fits in any of the categories listed but I would like to nominate Bugs as the hardest working host. He almost always has a game going, he is always in the Obs QT chatting and he always produces quality post-game analysis. I think this kind of commitment to making the games fun and improving play should be recognised.
My 2c

Can't you just nominate him for best host? There's like a request for a new award for every nomination.

wbg is an unbelievably good host. His presence in QT and his post-game analyses are just amazing. Worth playing for this alone.

I recall also having a couple skype conversations with him not more than two months ago where he seemed completely lost and unsure of himself. I talked to him a little bit about how I thought he simply had a mental block and just had to throw himself into the game and be assertive and do things rather than sit around and let others play for him. Specifically I think his concerns had to do with how his day 1 reads were always terrible, so he'd sit around and do nothing until day 2. Shortly afterward I found myself really liking marvellosity's reads and cases in games. Specifically in Artanis's MTG Mini Mafia I found his posts refreshing, very well thought out and logically constructed. His reads were excellent that game and he was by far the most valuable player for town. I agree with this 10000% He's an asshole to play against as mafia D:

thanks so much guys! I'm gonna keep trying to host quality games and I have ideas to make things slightly different in the future. Stay tuned!
Also I'm planning the details of AoE2 mafia this week :D

Sure, I just thought that was for a specific game. But if it is a general thing then put it under that.

Award for Best Team Mafia Performance on Normal Mini Mafia II
They basically raped us

On July 15 2012 11:43 Zephirdd wrote:Award for Best Team Mafia Performance on Normal Mini Mafia IIThey basically raped us I didn't observe the game in much detail, but wasn't this a fairly typical game where town played badly and scum just let town kill each other? Prplhz was under suspicion, but it was other townies who moved the lynch. Similar for Zentor?
EDIT: I'm not saying that it's a bad nomination, because I didn't really follow the game too well, but why does this mafia team deserve a nomination for good play, as opposed to any of the myriad other mafia teams who win a game? What was so good about their play?

yeah, mafia did nothing special that game. Town derped after they had outed 2 mafia by the beginning of day 2 and ended up lynching neither, that's all.

i don't particularly like how people are discussing nominations because it just discourages more nominations
if you guys don't think that nmmii had a good mafia team performance then it's less likely to win the award but then we can discuss everything to death (i know that this is the mafia forum but still...) i'm accepting any nomination anyway and i'll put it on the list no matter what people think
-e this isn't just you guys, there's a ton of it in this thread and i think we should mostly just save it for end of the year when we discuss the actual awards

no, it doesn't

All I wanted was a bit better explanation of why Zephirdd thought the mafia team played exceptionally well, rather than just town playing badly.
I fully realize that everybody has the right to nominate anything they feel is good, but it's better if they explain why it's good. That should generally be the aim of a nomination anyway: you feel strongly enough about someone's play to want them to win an award, so explain why you think it was worth it?
The end of the year is a long way away and there's a good chance even the nominator will be hazy on the details of why he thought the play was so good. Better to have that on paper now!
|
I agree I didnt explain it well.
the reason why I think it was an exceptionally good performance is that every attempt to lynch a mafia was swayed away by the mafia: prplhz cop claim was backed by bluelightz "I believe in it", as well as the first mislynch being creaditted to him. mrzentor was to be lynched, but the first time marv said "I'm not sure", prplhz took the chance and swayed the lynch back to VE. finally, bleulightz and prplhz blended really well day3 in a way that it made sloosh look really bad, as well as helping with his lynch in many ways.
I do believe they weren't "just" sitting on their asses. There is a reason we lost without lynching mafia.
hence, the nomination. Prplhz, link this post on the OP please on the nomination for this award.

Ange777 for Most Impressive Newbie in NMM XXII http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=353315
Considered a nomination for best town play but I figured it was a newbie game, so yeah.
Ange777 rolled doc and saved a Mason N1, then hunted scum for the rest of the game amazingly effectively. She wrestled with the unbelievably aggressive JH and managed to not mislynch him after he spent most the game cursing at the town and calling them all morons, and caught the scumslips and mistakes of all the remaining players. She was so townie that scum couldn't afford to shoot her or Shady, and her crumbs were never caught. She successfully played what would have, on its own, been an amazing VT game, and as a Doctor was superb.
She strongly suspected Zorkmid and pushed him all of Day 3, convincing townie after townie and finally forcing scum to tip their hand and eventually execute a hastily-assembled bus at the last minute.
Day 4, she realized the possibility of the insanely abrasive JH being town, and successfully fended of a series powerful attacks by DP, eventually pushing him as scum, gathering votes from a reluctant and angry town that wanted nothing more than to lynch the guy flaming them, and lynched him, essentially outing Alan as the final scum in the process.
A good scumhunting performance, and an even better one of writing cases and convincing reluctant townies to join her wagons. Doing all this as a doctor and saving a mason N1 was really quite impressive. Eventually, scum just had no winning moves left.

DoYouHas Best Mafia Player in Dwarf Fortress Mini Mafia http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=358346
Reading this game, you get the feeling that Town never had a chance to begin with, due to the lurking, the townies acting emotionally and lashing out at each other, and the general lack of scumhunting. However, a few things are notable about his play, beside the fact that nobody got a solid scumread on him.
He directed the Mafia NKs with unerring accuracy. He shot Marvellosity the Watcher N1, correctly reading him not only as Blue, but as the Watcher. This did the double duty of killing town's best scumhunter (who wasn't protected after taking some heat N1) and also killing off a blue. Sciberbia, the other townie who was contributing, was shot N2-- DYH rightly guessed he'd been protected N1-- and the rest of the game devolved from there, even though town lynched a lurking prplhz D2.
Town was a lurkfest, but it was a lurkfest that was characterized by the best scumhunters getting all shot in the initial nights. By the time Keirathi was shot (the last productive townie), the town atmosphere had degraded a great deal. Your average townie can definitely recognize a good case when it comes, but in an environment of insults, swearing, lurking and depression, town needed a leader to pull them through, and up until the very end everyone's theories (including those of the Obs QT, such as it was) included DYH as town.
In any case, I think it was a well-played scum game, and although someone may outplay him between now and the end of the year. DYH deserves the nomination. It might have seemed easy, but town DID lynch scum D2, and the atmosphere that inhibited scumhunting was fostered by DYH's moderate thread presence and excellent NKs.
