Hey so I only just now read the op categories, and I'd like to nominate Aperture Mafia for most entertaining game.
It was basically obsing that game that got me in to playing mafia.
The flavor posts were amazing, in tune with the portal universe, and the way the game played out was both crazy and entertaining all the way through. Plus the weirdness of all the roles really added an additional layer of depth to the obsing.

I nominate "GMarshal is going out so drunken chaoser is handling the night post!" from PYP:Redux for best daypost (no best nightpost, so I guess this is where it goes? maybe funniest moment?) http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=335236¤tpage=51#1001
Anyways, first of all, the post is ~4 hours late. Then chaoser only told us that Sentinel had been lynched and was mafia (no role). Then, chaoser edited his post to flip Sentinel as mafia "host" (instead of "joat") thanks to iphone autocorrect. He fixed it, but gave up trying to add colors to the post.
I think it deserves to win because I can just imagine a drunken chaoser trying to get things right and fighting with his phone before ultimately giving up, and I think that image is hilarious.

Yeah, more people need to flip as 'mafia host'

I'm nominating the Pick Your Poison Town as best Town team. Really solid overall play from almost every single town player.

looks like this thing is lacking some nominations, so I'm going to add some of my own:
Most Improved Player:
marvellosity
I recall telling marvellosity in the postgame of one of the games I hosted to just go scumhunt, because throughout the game he was virtually useless. I recall also having a couple skype conversations with him not more than two months ago where he seemed completely lost and unsure of himself. I talked to him a little bit about how I thought he simply had a mental block and just had to throw himself into the game and be assertive and do things rather than sit around and let others play for him. Specifically I think his concerns had to do with how his day 1 reads were always terrible, so he'd sit around and do nothing until day 2.
Shortly afterward I found myself really liking marvellosity's reads and cases in games. Specifically in Artanis's MTG Mini Mafia I found his posts refreshing, very well thought out and logically constructed. His reads were excellent that game and he was by far the most valuable player for town.
Best Play
This is technically two plays, but they're more or less one and the same because of the player's role.
In Emergency Mini Mafia that I just hosted and completed, Katina rolled roleblocker, one of the hardest roles as town to play correctly, due to its potential to stop town-sided blues and the fact that it is immensely easy for mafia to use as a fake claim (thus putting heavy pressure on a town roleblocker in a sticky situation)
In her first post of the game, Katina nailed the serial killer, Blazinghand, with an excellent use of meta analysis. It's not often that meta analysis is used correctly, but this is not the first time (and I certainly don't think the last) that I have seen Katina effectively use it against a player of an enemy faction. Her play was unfortunately overshadowed by the immensely loud derping of her mostly off-game teammates, but Katina persisted about her read and never faltered. On night 1 she roleblocked Blazinghand, stopping a kill and aiding in the ultimate no-death night. This put Blazinghand in an incredibly awkward situation, something that not many other players noticed (as they mislynched the following day) despite Katina's correct insistence.
Best Town Player
sandroba (in C9++ Mini)
I'll update this in a sec
Highest Level Game
Wheel of Fortune Mafia
I'll update these both when I'm out of my lab. Apologies for the clear and obvious bias toward the games I've hosted :p
e: funniest moment to artanis's card on VE's medic claim from MTG

He didn't even win...
Edit; By which I mean...seconded.

scared of a little competition for the 3rd party award?

Wbg, I'm gonna disagree with WoF mafia being highest level game (even before you post your reasoning ). A townie commited suicide (voted from himself) during mylo, which resulted in his lynch and town losing the game. Up to that point, I agree it was a very good game, but that play spoiled it.

This is basically why I'm not nominating IGCOM for highest level game. BrownBear's modkill completely ruined the ending of an otherwise great game.

A single play or action is not enough to ruin a game IMO
|
i don't particularly like how people are discussing nominations because it just discourages more nominations
if you guys don't think that wof was a good game then it's less likely to win the award but then we can discuss everything to death (i know that this is the mafia forum but still...) i'm accepting any nomination anyway and i'll put it on the list no matter what people think
-e this isn't just you guys, there's a ton of it in this thread and i think we should mostly just save it for end of the year when we discuss the actual awards

Day 1 Lynch of Bastard Mafia 2 for WTF? moment
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewpost.php?post_id=15156524
Zephirdd's flavor post explains it best. And it's also really hilarious, so everyone should read it.
Most of town decided to lynch DropBear who claimed "vengeful townie" and said that whoever voted him last would die. KharadBanar said that he would vote last as he didn't believe DropBear. Then a minute before the deadline, FourFace claimed Insane Bulletproof Detective and said that he would be the last vote as he couldn't die. At the same time, KharadBanar unvoted to try to make it so that his target (the kingmaker) would die instead.
In reality though, the voting was a sham and the king (who didn't even know that he was king) decided the lynch by himself. So KharadBanar, the SK/assassin, ended up dying.

Nominating Bastard Mafia 2 for best flavour. Both the day- and nightposts were excellent and portrayed perfectly what had been going on with a great twist of humour. Especially nominating Bastard Mafia 2, Night 3 post for best daypost (http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=343892¤tpage=94#1876)
While I'm at it, I'm also nominating HiroPro for best 3rd party play in Bastard Mafia 2. He and SnB were mason'd survivors, but he started off the game with this post claiming he was the recruitment officer for House Chezinu. House Chezinu was completely made up. The discussion around it was great, but from his own survivor point of view, when they claimed (together with everybody else), it made it highly unlikely they would get lynched or shot (except by the wild plan I had to lynch SnB to verify the claim it seemed pretty inconceivable that they were scum).
In addition, it was a fun and interesting play from someone who could have just coasted by on his role: as Drazerk said later in the game, you just claim D1 and get town to shoot/lynch one of you. The other one just afk's out the rest of the game
