No flamewar?

TB: "Well at least that's one person I can cross off next tournament's invite list."
TB explains: "@Alris Supposedly IdrA called me a horrible caster, which is I suppose kinda similar to a bronze leaguer calling him a horrible player."

TB: "I can't do what IdrA does and IdrA can't do what I do. Difference being I don't irrationally hate a guy I've never met or spoken to."
Idra replies: "@Totalbiscuit pretty sure anyone can yell"

TB: "@idrajit Oh IdrA please, you know as much about public speaking as I do about zerg build orders. Stick to what you're good at."
Idra replies: "@Totalbiscuit like talking about a game i know nothing about?"

Finally, "you're hurting esports"
TB: "@idrajit I'm sorry, but I'm not going to be drawn into this embarrassing pissing contest because I actually give a shit about the image of eSports. Best of luck at Dreamhack."

If you think that's a flamewar then I don't know what to tell you.

Should go and read Usenet, there you'll see real flamewars.

Some people are just desperate for drama. We can do without Starcraft TMZ.

Just go ahead and react badly to someone who gave you constructive criticism Idra, its not like he actually complemented you and lauded you as one of the best in the business. A great man once said, 'Character is higher than intellect', another great man said, 'you can judge a character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him' another quote to throw in here,' We judge ourselves by what we feel capable of doing, while others judge us by what we have already done.'

Mix and match those quotes to form an understanding of how to accept criticism, and not dismiss as hatred.

I think drama is brought on when people deny players from tournaments because they don't like a certain casting style.

You are making it personal, when in reality the sc community would obviously love to see Idra in one of your tournaments, and it could be nothing but a good thing

In reality, TotalBiscuit is probably the best pure caster of all the starcraft commentators in terms of actual casting technique. There's plenty of professional sports casters who know more about one specific sport but cast all of them because they have a great voice and ability.

Obviously Artosis, Day9 and the other 'elite' have better in game knowledge but neither hold a candle to the actual flow that TB can emulate.

I'm a huge fan of IdrA but the fact that he thinks that TB has to have intimate game knowledge to be a great caster is just silly and shows more dislike than actual critiquing.

TB has been broadcasting for YEARS!!! People don't get this... IdrA doesn't watch starcraft for the exciting plays, he only watches to analyze. It is only natural that he would call TB's casting "bad", when it isn't at all. It just doesn't play into the type of casting that IdrA would enjoy.

We could call TB a bad caster if he was trying to analyze every damn play on the screen. But does he? No. Has he tried and failed in the past? Yes. But he knows he's wrong, and he doesn't try to waffle around it.

Edit:
The day TB starts analyzing new build orders and tech switches is the day that we can call TB a bad caster. However, this will never be the case because TB knows his place. Idra on the other hand doesn't seem to get TB's place in E-Sports when it is fairly obvious. And anyone who says otherwise in an idiot in my opinion. TB's job is to be a play by play commentator NOT an analyst. IDK how many times this argument will spring up and people still wont get it. It really annoys me that people still call play by play casters out as "bad casters". Clearly they are not, they just fill a different roll in SC2 casts than analytical casters.

Also, idrA is ignorant on this issue. Has he had over 10 years of broadcasting experience? no? Has he had over 10 years in analyzing Starcraft? Yes. IdrA needs to stick to his guns because he in no way can critique a play by play commentator simply for the fact that he is completely unqualified to do so. Someone like DJwheat on the other hand probably could critique TB.
SC:BW has a higher skill ceiling than SC2? SC 64 is where it's at brah.

It's probably personal because I sponsor the tournament and I don't really like giving my money to people who slag me off on the internet.

If you're suggesting that I should, then you're holding me to an impossibly high standard that I very much doubt you'd adhere to yourself in the same situation.

Put a couple of grand on the line for someone who's done nothing but shit on you. I dare you. If you do, then you are a way better man than I will ever be.

You know what being the better man would be? Casting his Dreamhack games the same way I cast anyone elses, without bias. I am not the fuckin eSports Jesus, that's as much as you're getting from me.

I hate to sound like a four year old, but Idra did start it... he made it personal before it was, and although I usually agree with taking the higher road, there is no need to let somebody you know who openly slanders you have an attempt at earning your money. Frankly this hurts him more than you. I could talk about why for years, but I am sure everyone can summarize the reasons.

Pretty much this. If I was actively working against the guy to sabotage tournament invites, then angryinternetguy would have a point but as it stands, it's my invitational and I can invite whoever I please to take my money or in this case, not. If you want people to give you money it's usually a good idea not to go around insulting them. Yes there are actually consequences to doing things on the internet.

Would you want to give a grand to somebody who took a shat all over you? I certainly wouldn't. They don't deserve my time or money.

I didn't know that you have to let every player into your own tournament with a prize pool from your own pocket. Who would of ever thought?

Why host a tourney if you only pick your favorite players?

Excluding one person on the entire planet is not the same as only picking my favourite players.

So, basically, if someone is asked for their opinion on a tournament you were involved in (in this case the IPL) and says, bluntly perhaps but still honestly, that you're a bad caster they are no longer eligible to participate in tournaments you run yourself?

That's fine either way, but it's pretty ridiculous to claim IdrA made it personal by giving his opinion, especially when you not only take every opportunity you get to take cheap shots at either him or his fans on reddit or in your casts and also were the one who turned it into a twitter bitch fight, criticizing both his fans and casting.

This whole thing is a pile of childish bullshit from the pair of you.

That is completely irrelevant to the quote above. TB is financing this tournament by himself, I hope you understand that. It's completely up to him who he deems as an invite candidate.

Sadly there's little point in discussing the matter with someone who actually thinks I take every opportunity to take cheapshots at IdrA or his fans, particularly that I've done so in my casts. There is a certain level of delusion it's impossible to penetrate, your accusations have no basis in reality.
