Even if other nations didn't have the right to 'tell a sovereign nation how to legislate', they can certainly withhold aid as a result of decisions said 'sovereign nation' decides to make. The UN only acts when the outcry is loud enough (eg Rwanda) or vast amounts of money are at stake (eg Libya). Look at Syria, they are absolutely butchering their people far beyond what Qaddfi did and nary a peep is heard from the UN. It's all "slap on the wrist" bullshit. Syria is deploying tanks, shooting into crowds, doing midnight raids on protesters, barring hospitals. But because Syria is not a major exporter of oil and because it's a major enemy of Israel, no one gives a shit. Qaddfi merely had the threat of retaliation against his uprising and the UN jumped on that shit faster than a dog fart clears a room. Syria is actually butchering their people and no one cares. So yea, the UN is a fucking joke. It's a bunch of self-interested cock suckers kept in check by a bunch of dick-waving WWII winners. User was warned for this post | ||
