After yesterday’s discussion, and my knowledge that I would hit 7000 today, combined with the fact that I had time to kill; I pretty much couldn’t help myself but to turn Vorgrim’s vision into a reality. I hope you enjoy

Devotion
Starring Steve Buscemi as TuElite, Dolph Lundgren as HaXXspetten, Jung Nicole as herself, Mr. Chae as the Ultimate Kamilia Manager and Chow Yun-fat as the police chief.
Arriving at Incheon International Airport, Haxx looks for the sign he’s been waiting for. There! He runs over to his best friend. “Hey man, long time no see, eh? How was your flight?” He asks. TuElite gives a shrug, and replies: “Meh, had to switch flights in Tokyo, had quite the wait time there, but no delays fortunately. You?” Haxx gives a dry laugh. “Well technically nothing went wrong, but, you know, Stockholm to Seoul isn’t exactly the shortest flight, so… yeah.” TuElite gives a friendly smile back, before raising his eyebrows. “Say, how’s your Korean by the way? I mean Nicole speaks flawless English, and so will the rest of the group, so we’ll probably be fine, but it wouldn’t harm to be self-dependent.” Nodding, Haxx says: “Well I can sort of read Hangul, Korean itself is a whole different story… anyway, we should probably go get our taxi.”
Arriving at the luxurious Ritz-Carlton Hotel, the two friends meet up with a group of thirteen other men and women of varying ages in the lobby. A Korean man in his mid-thirties comes up to greet them. “Welcome to the Ultimate Kamilia group, you are the last two to arrive. Excellent, then I can begin the formal introduction, if you’ll just stand over here, please.” Turning to the rest of the group, he continues: “In the Ultimate Kamilia Contest, intended to showcase the most rabid fan of Kara, you will during the upcoming three weeks follow in the steps of the girls themselves and do whatever you can to showcase that you alone, and none other here, deserves to be named the biggest fan outside Korea. We’ve brought you in from countries all over the world after recommendations from our foreign scouts. As I’m sure you also know, in addition to the fame and glory of winning, first place also gives you a kiss from any Kara member of your choosing. I know that might be considered somewhat strange for the women here today, but it’s all in good spirit, have no fear.”
The upcoming week features a live concert, a multitude of press conferences and some photo shoots, but mostly downtime. Unfortunately, many of the events, where you would really like to pay attention in order to come up with something good for the contest, requires an understanding of Korean. Fortunately, since the group consists of foreigners only, the conditions are even for everyone, except for two or three who have studied the language to a certain degree at least.
During the first night of the second week, Haxx, TuElite and the others are watching Kara doing one of their red carpet entries for an upcoming press conference. Upon Nicole walking by, Haxx overhears something disturbing from behind: ”Why won’t DSP ever get their shit together and only showcase Jiyoung and Gyuri instead of this… if I see Nicole again I’m gonna kick a dog! Haxx looks behind him, and sees a group consisting of five or so men looking suspicious and unsatisfied. Leaning over towards TuElite, he whispers: “There is a bunch of Nicole haters standing right behind us…” You could almost feel the tension in the air after that as TuElite pretty much froze. After a few seconds he turns around, takes a look at the group, and then turns back around. He says nothing.
At breakfast the following morning, Haxx skims through the English newspaper, and to his disbelief, he finds an article about a tragic killing spree that had taken place during the night. He recognizes the faces of the victims far too well. Looking around in fear, he realizes that TuElite has not yet come down for breakfast. He tries knocking on the door to his room, but there is no answer. Calling him works out equally ineffective.
About an hour later, TuElite walks into the building with a sly smile on his lips. Haxx carefully approaches him and asks: “Uhm, where have you been?” TuElite however happily replies that he’s assured his victory in the contest by doing something no one else in this group would have had the guts to do.
Discouraged by this, and unsure what to do, Haxx eventually decides to make an anonymous police call (fortunately the policeman was an English speaker), and says that he might be familiar with the man behind tonight’s events, and tells the officer the address and room number.
While anxiously awaiting their arrival, Haxx sneaks into TuElite’s room while he was chilling out in the bar, and to his shock finds bloody garments in the bathtub. (They’ve been cleaned fairly well, but the blood is still visible) At that very moment, the door is busted up by the police, who immediately catch Haxx with the bloody clothes in his hands, and places him under arrest. He tries to protest, saying that there’s been a mistake, that it was he who called, and that it is his best friend who is the real killer, but to no avail. Being dragged out of the building with the evidence in a plastic bag in the hands of one of the other officers, he catches a glance from TuElite at the last second. He shows no facial expression at first, and then gives a terrifying glare for a brief second before returning to his drinks.
At the police station, Haxx explains to the police that he was in fact the caller and was merely investigating the room. After reciting the conversation he had with the police officer on the phone and voluntarily doing a truth test with an EEG, the police slowly but surely admit their error, and instead ask him to help them catch the true killer. After showing him a picture of TuElite on his cellphone, and sending that picture to another police patrol currently residing outside the hotel, another squad quickly enters the building only to find that TuElite has gone underground. Haxx says that TuElite knows that we’re on to him, and the only way to catch him is by taking this to the extremes.
Together, the police chief and Haxx go up to the Penthouse of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel and ask if they can talk to Nicole, claiming that lives are at stake. Jiyoung cautiously lets them in, and the princess herself greets them in all her glory. Haxx, somewhat dry mouthed by her presence has some trouble retelling the situation once again, but with the officer’s help, he manages to. In the end, he swallows, looks into Nicole’s eyes, and tells her that the only way to catch the killer is by using his love for her as bait. She looks fearful at first, but after some reassurance that the last thing he would want in this world would be to harm her, she agrees, and chooses a meeting location on the rooftop of Grand Hyatt Seoul, Kara’s next temporary place of residence.
After been given his phone number, Nicole texts TuElite, saying that she knows what he’s done, that she’s so proud of him and wants to meet him in person to thank him properly in order to evaluate whether he is in fact worthy of winning the Ultimate Kamilia contest. She puts on a beautiful dress, and takes her place in a chair put up for her on the windy rooftop of the luxurious hotel. Haxx and the police officers go into hiding on the opposite side of the roof, behind the small cabin that contains the staircase.
After maybe twenty minutes, the door opens, and TuElite comes out wearing some sort of harness with a backpack. He walks very slowly towards Nicole, and even from the fifteen or so meters between him and TuElite, Haxx can still hear him sniveling out of happiness for getting to talk to her in person for the first time in his life. Haxx, still aware of what he must now do, and perhaps also driven somewhat by jealousy of the current situation, walks out into the open and calls his name. “It’s a trap!” he yells, and tells him to surrender. TuElite slowly backs away towards Nicole, and Haxx is now not able to keep his own tears back anymore. “You were the Chosen One! It was said that you would destroy the antis, not join them! Bring compassion to the Kamilias, not showcase them as criminals!” TuElite, shocked at this betrayal, suddenly goes from happy and disbelieving to outright furious. “I HATE YOU!” he screams back. Haxx takes a few more steps towards TuElite and Nicole, with the men and women of law enforcement not far behind him. “You were my brother TuElite! I loved you.” TuElite slowly looks into his eyes, and smiles. “Don’t worry. This is not over yet.” He says, and then he quickly grabs Nicole around her waist and jumps over the edge of the roof. In desperation, Haxx lunges forward, but is unable to grab either of them in time. Looking over the edge, he sees his best friend and his biggest crush fall to their graves, when suddenly a parachute opens from TuElite’s backpack. Haxx breathes a sigh of relief.
No time to waste however, as the officers’ rush down the stairs and into the elevator in order to go all the way down to the bottom. Upon finally getting outside again however, there is no sign of the unlikely couple. There is however, for obvious reasons, quite the crowd outside, and an abandoned parachute on the sidewalk. After a quick conversation with the people surrounding them, the group is pointed to TuElite and Nicole’s last known direction. The group quickly jumps into the police cars again and begins the chase. The police chief takes the driver’s seat of the lead car with Haxx riding shotgun. The chief gets on the intercom and calls for backup from all across Seoul, using the police’s resources to quickly pinpoint the location of TuElite and Nicole. After not all too long, one of the other police cars calls back and says something in Korean, which the chief then translates for Haxx, saying that apparently the runaways have stopped at the ginormous 63 Building on Yeouido Island.
Soon thereafter, they arrive at the 250 meter tall skyscraper, and are welcomed by an abundance of police cars. After a quick debriefing from the other policemen, it is quite clear that what began as a simple proof of devotion now has turned into a hostage situation. “According to the recon team,” the police chief translates, “TuElite has walled himself in with Nicole in the Golden Tower: the observation deck on the top of the building. He is also armed, but to what degree is yet unclear. What is clear is that we cannot afford to make any rash decisions at this point. The man is obsessed and out of control, and we have no idea what he will do.” Haxx swallows. “If Nicole can’t convince him to release her, then there is no way you ever will. I’m your only chance… let me go up there.” The chief takes a good, long look at him before eventually nodding. Haxx runs into the building, adrenaline filling his veins, his heart beating like never before.
The elevator seems slower than any elevator in history. Admittedly it is a 60 story building, but it still felt more like an hour than the minute or so it actually took. Coming out on the top floor, Haxx is greeted by the recon team, consisting of four policemen. One of them gives a quick bow, before explaining in rough English: “The chief told us you were coming. Our best wishes are with you.” Then he nods upwards to the tower. “He’s up there. If anyone can stop him, it’s you.” Haxx takes a deep breath, before beginning the ascent.
Upon reaching the very peak of the enormous building, the first thing he sees is a 9mm aimed at him from the opposite side of the room. Holding it is his best friend, lying in a huge bed with Nicole beside him, his other arm around her waist. She looks confused and worried, but not necessarily frightened or uncomfortable. “Don’t shoot, it’s me!” Haxx yells while raising his arms. “I’m unarmed, see?” TuElite slowly lowers the gun, and stands up beside the bed. Nicole slowly sits up on her side of the bed and one step at a time walks away from TuElite.
Upon seeing this, TuElite’s eyes start reddening. “You’ve turned her against me!” In disbelief at this, Haxx yells back: “You have done that yourself!” TuElite raises his gun once again. “You will not take her from me!” He breathes heavily. “This madness must stop. Can’t you see what you’ve become!?” Haxx exclaims with tears in his eyes as he slowly walks towards TuElite, despite looking down the barrel of a gun. “You were my role model, my best friend… the brother I never had. You’re the one who sent me down this path, and now you’ve drifted from it yourself instead. Hell, you’ve become everything you sought to destroy!” At this notion, if you had a magnifying glass, you would be able to see a tiny tear running down TuElite’s left cheek. “I’ve always wondered how I was supposed to repay you for everything you’ve done for me. But now it’s is oh so clear.”
With that, a lightning quick duck to the right and a swing to the left, all of a sudden Haxx had a grip on the gun as well, and it suddenly became a battle of emotions, willpower and physical strength. “I can’t let you do this, I’m sorry.” TuElite says with gritted teeth. “I’ve gone too far down this road to turn back now. Redemption is out of my grasp… but I’d like to end this with having spent my last moments with the woman I love.” Somewhat distracted by this, Haxx loses the grip of TuElite’s hand for a second, and with a mighty roar, TuElite pushes him away and throws him to the floor. TuElite, now with tears pouring down his cheeks, aims the gun at him. “Goodbye my friend… and thank you.” Then, with eyes squeezed shut, he turns the pistol towards his own head.
Upon seeing what he is about to do, Nicole throws herself towards him. “NOOOOooOOoOOoOOOoo” she screams in total falsetto, and is able to get a hand on the 9mm just as TuElite pulls the trigger. The bullet gets redirected downwards… but it’s not enough, and he collapses by the window with a massive amount of blood sprayed across his upper torso. “No, no, no, this can’t be happening. Stay with me!” Nicole sobs in desperation as she kneels by his side. TuElite looks up at her. “It’s too late for me… no, no, don’t cry my princess, don’t cry.” He coughs heavily for a few seconds. “It’s alright. You’ve brightened up every day for me for such a long time. I could never even have dreamed of dying with your face burnt into my memory as the last thing I would see on this Earth upon going into the afterlife.” Nicole, now beyond recognition as her makeup starts dissolving among the tears, slowly leans forward towards him. “TuElite… you may be crazy, but you’re definitely my kind of crazy. I don’t care that the time limit is far from over; I hereby name you Ultimate Kamilia of 2012.” Another ten or so seconds pass with nothing but sobbing from both sides taking place. “No matter what happens… think of me after this… because I will never forget you. Thank you.” She then leans closer in towards him, until their lips finally make contact. TuElite’s left hand grasps the back of her head and slowly sinks into her fluffy hair. The kiss seemingly lasts for nearly a full minute, when TuElite’s hand suddenly falls off her head and hits the floor with a thump. Nicole ever so slowly lets him go. Having lost his best friend, Haxx is not exactly feeling much happier than she is, but he decides that she deserves to receive whatever comfort there is to be received, so he drags her up on her feet and hugs her. She embraces him hard and starts to snivel like never before, and quite frankly, Haxx is unable to hold his feelings back any longer either, and they both end up crying in each other’s arms. At this point, the room is flooded by the police, now having decided to take matters into their own hands, only to discover the situation already cleared up, albeit not in the way intended. The officers slowly walk over to Haxx and Nicole in an attempt to remedy the situation.
The camera zooms out through the window where TuElite’s body is lying, and goes up towards the sky. Everything fades out…
The End!
Special thanks to TuElite for being who you are, to Vorgrim for giving me the idea, the basic script (pages 2673 & 2674) and the ability to do something original for my 7k, to Jung Nicole for still being breathtaking in just about every way, and to everyone else for reading.
