To ensure this thread won't be closed, you must adhere to several a number of simple rules; - Please use spoilers when quoting a post with pictures and/or videos.
- When posting large quantities of media (pictures or videos), please begin spoilering after the first piece. Grouping related videos in the same spoilers & labeling is recommended.
- No reposting of old material unless justified
- Posting any material with little or no relevent discussion accompanying it
- No passion-induced flaming of each other because 'x said y sucked' etc.
- Keep the expression hate of music individuals/groups to a minimal level
- No 'pagetopping' in any form whatsoever, as it constitutes spam equal to posts similar to 'first'.
- No vulgar fan fics or wet dream stories. It is creepy, weird, and it dehumanizes the people who you are here to celebrate/discuss.
- Normal posting standards that you find throughout the rest of the site still apply and will be enforced more strictly from here forward (2012/03/11)
Due to the poor nature of this thread in the past, temporary two-day bans will occur more than often if people slip up. |

No more creepy ass dreams please, if you do have them, keep them to yourself or post them in some blog or something.

Ok, I think it is fair to say that the thread... Well, the most out-spoken members, took a stance and drew the line.
Speaking for myself, I tried to create content and generate discussions for the thread the only way I knew how and took it in one direction. Where I saw no necessity for a line or limits.
I now stand corrected that this is not the direction the regulars want to go and that is fine. We should all respect this wish from now on and see how it goes.

So I said I would look into more Miss $ stuff awhile back and finally did. I wish I looked them up earlier but I was consumed with other stuff until one of their songs came onto my playlist today. Enjoy. Some songs may be listed more than once. I can't read korean nor am I familiar enough to differentiate songs yet. And the rap sounds the same in every damn song. Note: The rap is strong with this one.

I'm telling you.. Fany and Taengoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo :D You can't sit here and say you cringe when someone does a report and then ask people to be more diligent about reporting. It's painfully obvious that you look down on this thread and its posters. I can't even fathom how you could seriously compare the My Little Pony thread to this one, but I digress. Stop treating us like it's an "us and them" situation where it's the clean saintly moderation staff standing above looking down at the "lowly incongruous" posters of KMD. That attitude is precisely the problem of the disconnect between staff and thread posters. If moderation staff would actually listen to the thread and update rules in a timely fashion, you'd curtail a lot of the shitty posting that happens from time to time, but we're invariably waiting 6 months to a year every time. Overall the thread quality doesn't change much. There's always a few morons arguing about something like being banned from a stream chat, but that is hardly specific to KMD and exists in large threads of all kinds. You'll see the exact same shit in the LoL subforum and even SC2 sections. My problem is how incredibly obnoxious it is to see a moderator come in every couple of months, maybe finally enact rules asked for a year ago, claim the thread's going to shit (it's not), and simultaneously insult the posters of this thread in sweeping language and then turning around and going "It's only some of you." Since you want to talk about incongruity, let's do so: not very long ago, moderators arbitrarily started intermittently enforcing people not spoilering quoted shit before it was actually added as a rule, but since it was so infrequent and not listed nobody knew it was even prohibited (even regulars like me). Further, the top note NEVER UPDATES after a "New Rule" is added, so nobody notices when that new rule becomes something else, which is precisely what happens when said rule was finally added. It's been more than enough time since it was added: move it from the new rule section and put it with the others. When the next thing comes along, maybe people will actually notice. It's not just some posters who are incongruous. So again: stop asking like it's an "us or them" situation. If you're going to actually be diligent about moderation, good. Otherwise, please stop dropping by a handful of times a year to make these posts. I thought I made it clear that I was speaking pretty specifically to the offenders not everyone in the thread. If I failed to do that then I apologize but I am trying here, and I readily admitted that in the past I just steered clear of the thread. I talk every day with people who may frequent this thread or enjoy kpop. I watch the streams that have constant music videos during commercials. So don't tell me I look down on everyone in here or am not tolerant of everyone here. I'm trying to take an active interest in helping you out so I don't see what is so productive in acting confrontational like this.
About new rules - who is formulating these? How do they come about? How do you contact mods to make sure they get in the Notes at the top? Obviously there is some kind of disconnect here and I'm trying to solve this. I don't know how this thread works. Please feel free to explain it to me in a PM. My ears are open.
edit: Are there any rules that you've put together recently that I need to add right now? Another common thing I run into when seeing reports is when someone violates "no reposting of old material" and no context for the original instance of the media being posted is provided. It happens frequently and it makes verifying and taking action next to impossible when there are 2000+ pages. These are the issues that make moderating this thread and moderating to the rules that are created very difficult.

@p4NDemik: I think the reposting material rule is more of a don't post Gee every other page kind of thing, not crucifying someone for accidentally reposting a vid that may or may not have appeared 500 pages ago.

the fact that this is merely a celebrity worship thread is the reason for a lot of angst between people in this thread.
why should people be able to post some manifestation of a wet dream in here when there has been an established precedent of posting any personal experience (ie fanfics and descriptions regarding personal experiences like concerts/fanmeets related to kpop) in a blog? nobody is against you posting your teenage wet dreams on TL as long as it's in the correct category. how narrow of a mindset to simply say "I enjoy reading about these dreams, I think they should be allowed in this thread."

The issue with the repost rule is that "during the same day" can still span as little as 5 to as many as 10 or more pages a day. So verifying is still difficult many times (even if you don't think it would be if you read every post and you know exactly where stuff is). So when possible please provide a link or page # in reference. Also you have to take into account that something you guys may have seen 500 times many mods may have little experience/knowledge of so when they see these reports they simply don't know if that's the case or not. If I see a report where someone posted the "Gee" music video then yeah I'll know but my K-Pop knowledge (and many others) isn't that vast. Relying on the few mods that say they read this thread doesn't seem to be enough, so I'm going to try and make myself more available and I'd encourage any of you to PM me when a problem arises and it needs addressing. It'll be on my subscribed list, not because I gotta get my SNSD fix but to try to have a general sense of where things stand/some kind of frame of reference.
I added the Rule for spoilering large quantities of media, as well as emphasizing normal posting standards will be upheld. Fan fics and dream stories however have a precedent of being allowed (so long they aren't incredibly crude and excessive) so I'm not going to add that unless there is a large majority that want those gone. I haven't read any of them, but if everyone agrees they don't want that stuff in here and would rather they take it to a blog then I'll add it.

Are you guys kidding? His dream was spoilered, you had a total option to not view that. Yes it was fuckin weird and I myself restrained from it and me and some other people who read this thread had a good laugh about posting stuff like that, but NOTHING in this thread should bother people.
Look at this repost rule, its natural interpretation is nothing thats outlandishly old and obviously famous - theres no point punishing someone for something that is, say, 1 week old. Sure, you might have discussed it, but posting it along with some relevant notes can surely sustain discussion in this thread. Even older than that, what if people don't exactly remember what it is? Posting it serves as a reminder and maybe catchup for people who might not be able to keep up with the fast pace of this thread.
@andyrau you always sound so worked up and eager to start shit, but you have a fair point here. Honestly, if you're on the internet, you should have a fairly thick skin. As long as any criticism of someones favourite idol isn't full on pummelling them, I don't see the problem with "seohyun has an ugly head", although if it was kind of explained it would make it alot better, and stop everyone just posting retaliating one liners.
I mean, I lurked here for 1000 pages before i started posting and everything here has been entertaining if my memory serves me correctly. And thats how people should view it, just a thread for some fun, so I honestly don't understand all these rules that apply to it. Simple guidelines of decency should suffice.
And this spoiler rule is bullshit, it should be obvious whether you should spoil something or not. Someone's one video post? Whatever, next time try to remember. Someones huge ass pic with 4 accompanying gifs? should be obvious to spoil it.
edit: I can't believe people report each other in this thread either, seems so tattle tale for something as trivial as this

Other: In answer to the policy for fanfics and dream recounts, I believe that they are being unfairly subjected to censure. I am of the mind that believes these such fictions contributed by TL.net members for TL.net members do not only entertain and add original content to threads, but also serve to enrich the literary world as a whole. I understand how people would not like to see them squandered in the threads, so easily buried away derisive posts and other content that serve to derail discussions of the dream, its meanings, and what possible future they may foretell. I feel that it would be unfair to the contributors and the works themselves to put them in the blog section, they would not fit well amongst all the entries about demystifying women and the thought provoking accounts of players with their trials and experience in the challenging field of combat that is Starcraft 2 ranking tiers.
I would posit that the best possible choice is to open up a Korean Dream Thread in the general section where people with interests in Korean Dreams and things related to Korean Dreams might commune to give support to each other in furthering their interests on the subject. This would also serve the general populace of TL.net by giving people who may possibly be curious, or even a hidden interest, a basis of entry into the world of Korean Dreams.
