There are some advantages to killing off inactives, to be sure. I think it is important to note that they could be either blue, red or green. It is impossible to tell and they won't give themselves away with a post since they aren't posting...

Sacrificing 1 inactive player to hit [potentially] 0 mafia is bad.
Ignoring 1 inactive player to hit [potentially] 1 mafia is a pretty good deal.

I think you misunderstood my intent in that post. I was more so pointing towards a scenario where the town is split in 2 or 3-way on deciding who to lynch. I was wondering whether lynching an inactive would be a reasonable in that scenario or not?

In case of strong scummy behavior or a majority of town believing in someone being scum, I would be all for voting that person for lynching.

I've noticed a lot of finger-pointing going around. A good example would be of KillerSOS qucikly criticizing Rising_Pheonix's post as spam, even though all he did was give his viewpoint on the current situation?

Sandroba is very quick to accuse people as being scum.

As a few people have already said, Kurumi's posts are strange. It seemed like that at first he was trying to attack chaoser, and then started claiming him to be a good pro-townie?

AirBlade's post instantly looked like anti-town. He was suggesting that we lynch Kurumi, and then he said that even if Kurumi is a townie, it's still okay.

As I said earlier, right now all we're doing is pointing fingers and forcing people into corners to make them look suspicious. I still haven't seen a good, legitimate reason for voting off someone yet.

Sandroba was quite finger-happy in Surprisingly Normal Mini Mafia as well where he was a DT. Now, this does not necessitate that he is town but his play-style in consistent with that game at the very least.

I am quite suspicious of Kurumi as he spammed the hell out of this thread with mostly meaningless posts. I was going to give him the benefit of doubt of him being a young kid or being not comfortable in English for his mostly incoherent posting, but he made a rather coherent analysis post as his last post of the day. Since his last post suggests that he is quite capable of making reasonable posts, his other posts seem scummy to me written in order to create confusion and derail discussion. But again, I have never been in a mafia game with him and am not sure of his mafia play habits.

I agree with AirBlade seeming anti-town. I am also for voting and lynching Kurumi if I think that he is scum (which seems probable to me at this point) but I would not vote/lynch him just because he posts horribly. This might be a lapse in judgment or scum trying to get a townie killed.

So we're just letting people divert our attention from the actual scum posts. And we're just letting the suspicion go just like that?

I think this is true. I don't know why he would ask questions such as what was your mafia experience. Sure it generates discussion but is any of that really relevant to scum hunting? Unless this is another one of his plans to draw out responses..

I just read through the thread, and I'm not sure exactly what to think.

My biggest FoS right now is on Rising_Phoenix. He hasn't been lurking, exactly, but rather making vacuous posts.

Also lots of finger pointing without any actual evidence. I almost say vote for the spammers so at least we can have some constructive comments.

Also, the reason why my one post was unsubstantial is because I am still waiting for something to stick out. Right now all the spam looks suspicious, or at least is really annoying.

Active =/= scummy. Why are you telling people to stop talking? This is not pro-town. It's pretty ironic that you're telling people to stop spamming by making an empty spam post. When you start posting content, you can tell people to stop spamming.

Why would we vote off inactives? We should leave them be. If they are mafia, well they aren't that much of a threat to us since they're not participating. On the other hand, if they're a townie then that'll just put a crutch in us. We'll lose a townie, PLUS we'd have wasted our votes.

People insisting that we vote off inactives just seems suspicious to me.

You can't just ignore the inactives. If you do, then you end up in the end game with absolutely no information about them. In XXXVII the entire mafia team lurked. I agree we probably shouldn't lynch an inactive day one since the mafia generally can pick the inactive of their choice, but they should be identified and pressured to post. That way, later down the road we have enough information to make a case against them.

As Kit said, it really is impossible to make a case for them down the road. Although I would have to also say that a Day 1 lynch seems to be a bit unreasonable. I'm sure it is only a matter of time before someone says something they shouldn't >_>

Hello there. I am Kenpachi and i am back.

I lied about Chaoser being scum. he is [g]town[/g]
The realization came to me after re-reading all my posts
:S.. dunno. my initial read on a person is usually wrong (1 correct read in my life!!!)
so my attention is directed to Kurumi but hes a newer player so its hard to say and its odd. It seems the case against Kurumi looks too strong to believe.. or am i wrong again -_-

Back from finals with thoughts on Kurumi and the rest:

Kurumi's posting has been weird, it has been borderline trolling and he jumped very quick to defend and call for discussion about me to stop. That immediately made me very suspicious of him. He then continued to contribute nothing but nonsense in an obviously anti-town way. But does that make him mafia? Not necessarily. Many of you are new but we use to have a player, ocz3c who also had very absurd posts. He posted in such a way because he wanted to draw reactions out of people. Do we know at this point what Kurumi's goals are? No. Is the evidence against him strong enough yet to say he's definitely scum? No.

But there is someone who has been acting a lot more suspiciously. Irish_Punk13

1) His reaction to my barely there pressure on him was an overreaction to say the least, I already mentioned this in another post earlier that you can go look up.

2) He said that he wasn't going to "...waste time on trying to convince someone that I'm not scum when I can actually be looking for them..." but he has yet to do much hunting. Aside from his post against AO:

Okay, for now my vote is going on AirbladeOrange for his last post. I don't like the fact that he's okay with the idea of lynching town. Kurumi is making some great posts so far, and I think he's most likely town based off of his actions so far. The fact that you think it's okay to lynch him tells me that you're probably scum, so I'm putting my vote on you.

which uses a very WEAK argument, he hasn't done much. (AO said he was essentially OK with a policy lynch on Kurumi, this has been stated by, more times than not, many townies over the 50+ games that have occurred on TLMafia) and made it out to be a HUGE scum tell. Like I said before, usually behavior is what gives scums away, not a single post. His blowing up of the post leads to my next point:

3) This weak argument was then used to chainsaw defend Kurumi

(Definition of Chainsaw Defense)

Irish_Punk immediately starts a bandwagon on AO after heats starts on Kurumi and look at how fast it grows with people basing their decision on that one single weak post.

Irish_Punk 4:23
Kurumi 4:24 <---this is important
KillerSOS 4:26

Why is Kurumi, who just previously said he was suspicious of Irish_Punk, immediately switching his vote to support Punk's FoS? He didn't even question it, he changed his vote from Irish_Punk to AO after only a minute had passed.

4) He is wishy-washy.

One thing I did notice while looking over this before is that Jackal58 isn't as active as he has been in other games that I've seen him in. Even in the one that I played with him before he was more active than he has been on this. I'm not saying that this definitely points to him as scum, but it is a little odd.

Adds on a edit after 4 minutes had passed. That's not a Edit By Way Of Double Post. That's a new post. In it he throws suspicion on Jackal58 but backs off almost automatically.

At this point, there is suspicion on Kurumi but the case against him isn't very strong. The case against Irish is much stronger and his flip will be very telling of Kurumi's alignment.

##Vote: Irish_Punk

I´d like to chime in a bit. To me it looks like primarily the ones below are suspected at the moment:
Kurumi
Irish_Punk13
AirbladeOrange

I have one problem with this, that they are voting on eachother, meaning that they are probably not all Scum. Below are the posts from these players that I found in the voting thread, with the newest post highest.

Kurumi:
#Vote Irish_Punk13

Irish_Punk13:
##Vote AirbladeOrange

Mafia slip :o Even if they do not participate in the discussion they still kill two of us. If they're inactive that means that they're lurking and don't want to get in to arguments to put suspicion on them so they do not get lynched. Pressuring inactives will make them active and find out if they're actually scum.

Of these three, I think we have the least to go on with AirbladeOrange, because he´s only got 4 posts so far. He looks more like a slow poster that made a few scumtells.

Could you analyze these posts. So that we can see the scumtells you are telling us. We can't just bandwagon a guy just you say he has 4 posts and had a few scumtells. We need a little more than that.

If anything that indicates AO is town. It's much too early to start analyzing voting patterns. If Punk is scum he will broadcast it to anybody and everybody as he continues to post. He really sucks at playing scum.
I think atm the reactions of both Punk and Kurumi is just noobs. I'm more concerned about people that believe scum are harmless and we should just ignore inactives/lurkers.
That is a scum agenda.
