1) Do NOT promote your own stream in this thread. You may create a separate thread to do so. 2) Do NOT post in this thread to request a streaming site / channel change.

You can't get rid of a stream you have, just stop using it simply. I'm not entirely sure.
I assume if its inactive for 2 weeks they will remove it

I have a question regarding the difference between a [stream] and a [show].
I'm in the process of producing a show for the community, and I'm planning to stream the show live (as well as provide VODs).
Is the process for advertising a show the same as for a stream? I've read through the thread and can't find anything specific regarding shows, and how to have them advertised via TL.
Many thanks for your help.

From my understanding, the show needs to have a focus or output on the community or beneficial towards them. If you redirect people to your site or involve to sign up or something, then that's more advertising for your own benefit than the interest of the community.
Hi Totre de Lini, thanks for the response
The show is providing something to the community, and no sign-up or subscription or anything required So hopefully it's classed as beneficial to the community, as that's the purpose of it
So based on that, is the process for advertising a show the same as for a stream? I.e., do I create a thread in SC2 general, that I can then link to a stream application?
Cheers

Do you get paid to stream?

No, generally not.
|
just submitted my request, but forgot to add the link to the thread i made :/ do i have to wait for the request to get rejected/accepted before i can edit it and add it?
|
You have to get your stream application accepted first before you can apply for the connection between your thread and stream channel.
|
ahhh i see. i should probably have put more detail into the application description box then :/ if it gets rejected can i apply again?
|
I believe you can, but you may want to wait a bit before reapplying.

is the stream list in general supposed to be for players only and are organizations excluded? I'm asking because right now I've used my account (which meets the criterion of "being a member for 3 months") to get the stream of our tournament site listed, but I'd obviously appreciate if it was possible to get the listing under the name of site instead of my nickname.
The bottom line is the stream is now listed anyways and if we had to wait the mandatory three months, it would only mean more (and IMO unnecessary) confusion. Whatever username you register with is the name of the stream.
It would seem you didn't get my question.
I'm asking whether it's possible to circumvent the 3 month waiting period because our events are in the general stream list anyway, only under my nickname instead of SCV Rush's.
|
No, you can't circumvent it.

Thank you. May I ask why? Because right now, it's only an administrative issue:
- SCV Rush has been active in the community for more than 3 months,
- associating my account (Vogin) with our events only creates confusion,
- it is my understanding that the waiting period is there to prevent either somewhat low quality or non-persevere streamers to get int he list - I dare to say that's not the issue here.
I'm pretty sure you're just following the rules to the letter but I do believe there is room for an exception here.
On a side note, if you want me to just shut the hell up and accept it, I (although reluctantly) shall.

P.m them and ask, but when I was first in this topic (early last year?), someone asked the same thing and Chill's response was: "If you need to ask, you're not".
Generally, this has been asked a lot before however.

I already have a stream, but I was wondering if I could associate a thread with it?http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=310226 This would help me out a lot!

You have to reconfigure your channel's settings, in the videos section - the menu looks something like this - http://puu.sh/h8fl - untick prevent embedding and it should be fine.

The title of your stream will be the same as your username. Use the name change thread thread if this isn' t what you want. Custom stream titles will not be given on request.
Hope it helped.
