and then belgium comes over the top with a fantastic offensive performance. Hazard was amazing. Great day of football, prolly more than 5x amount of decent attempts today compared to yesterday lol. ![]()

Same can be said of Belgium. For a very long time between the 1st and 2nd goals, Belgium looked a little shaky, giving up several good chances and not really having control of the game. Germany's performance was probably the best out of any team at the tournament (spare maybe Spain vs. Turkey). Complete and utter dominance of the entire 90 minutes. Couldn't see any flaws except for that damn PK miss. Still, winning 3-0 with a missed PK to spare is pretty damn good. This should cement Gomez being up front, and Draxler had a really good game as well. I think it's a really good sign for them that they were able to step up and put in this performance (and not pull an England against Slovakia) and still look so cool about it. It seems really clear that Germany has a couple more gears left in them if they need them. I think the only question is if they'll be able to put in the concentration and effort to step it up when they need to.

You guys have to accept that he is just that good. I mean sure, one goal could be lucky. Two could be very fortunate but scoring 29 goals in 67 games is pretty freaking great and luck's got nothing to do with it. 2003–2009 VfB Stuttgart 121 (63) 2009–2013 Bayern Munich 115 (75) 2013–2015 Fiorentina 29 (7) 2015– → Beşiktaş (loan) 33 (26) 2007– Germany 67 (29) The worst players in the game vs Slovakia were Hector and Muller. Hector is just not there (yet?) Neither his offense nor his defense convinced me. Muller just got some bad luck these days, but that will change I was sceptical bout Draxler but boy did he prove me wrong. Pity that Ozil and Kroos didn't score, they would have deserved it. Great game from both of them

Great game from both of them Gomez only scored against bottom half of Bundesliga in his time at Bayern. His numbers are flawed.

For arguments sake: A lot of top tier teams have troubles with bot tier teams, securing those "easy" wins and "save" points... And he played a lot of CL and EL and scored there as well, for example vs bot tier teams like FC Barcelona and stuff.... I'm sorry but i kinda don't see your point besides that his goal ratio maybe a bit inflated which is the case with probably every striker on earth EDIT: Just looking at CR7 numbers.. 16 goals in last CL, 6 vs Malmö and 5 vs Donesk....

Do you know the reason? Well Gomez was unable to score vs the big teams lol. All the honours he got with Bayern were when he was on the bench. Gomez is good when the opponent is weak. If you want to win big games, important matches you better hope Gomez is not on the field. Gomez' "best run" with the national team was Euro 2012, Germany's worst tournament performance (quality and results wise and yes Gomez played a big part in that) since 2004 lol.

I just went through his stats for fun. 09/10: scored 6 of his 10 league goals against top half opponents 10/11: scored 15 of his 28 league goals against top half opponents 11/12: scored 5 of his 26 league goals against top half opponents 12/13: scored 6 of his 11 league goals against top half opponents Overall that's 32 of his 75 (42.7%) league goals for Bayern scored against top half opponents. So it was exactly one season where he mostly scored against teams from the bottom half of the table. In every other season he even scored more against teams from the top half of the table. Lewandowski for example scored 21 of his 47 (44.7%) league goals for Bayern against top half opponents. I could look at some other top strikers but I doubt there's gonna be that much of a difference.

Nobody said he should win the FIFA Ballon d'Or, but that doesn't make him a bad player lol Football is a team game last I heard, thats why Germany won the WC and not Argentina/ Brazil / whatever. Making it all about one player seems so shortsighted EDIT: After seeing the stats i got the feeling you are just very biased with the Gomez-hate, but everyone is entitled to their opinion ![]()

He doesn't help defend. (things all Klose did) All he does is score goals and look good at it. When he doesn't score goals, his teams play with 10 men basically. Funny how you use the team argument for defending Gomez haha
