You guys sure have a lot of trust in Van Persie, probably because you're mostly familiar with his play for Arsenal. He has a reputation of underperforming for Oranje, which is also what he did 2 years ago at the WC.

I totaly agree with you, since i had RvP in my fantasy team at the last World Cup ^_^.

I think Lewandowski, Klose, Benzema or Müller.

Gomez wont see much gametime, Klose will start. I mean he has always played when he was healthy.

Remember that RVP only played 20 games total in the 09-10 season and was recovering from injury going into the last WC and definately wasn't fully fit. Not to mention most of his career has been like a revolving door in and out of the treatment room due to injuries from club and national team games and, much to the frustration of arsenal fans, Bert Van Marwijk always insists on playing him when he is recovering from injury, which may explain his poor history in the oranje shirt. Now he has had literally a full season, played every premier league game and is in amazing form. I think he has a good shot, but others like Ronaldo, Benzema, Jelavic and Lewandowski have had great seasons too.

i also expect klose to start instead of gomez. klose might be a good bet too, assuming germany makes it far into the tournament. same situation applies to van persie vs huntelaar, only one of them is going to play. müller isn't a real goalgetter, he will probably have more assists than goals at the end of the tournament. with germany, netherlands, portugal and denmark in 1 group, that could mean you aren't going to see any high scoring one sided matches in this group.

benzema and france seem to be in great form and can make it far.
poland has a strong team this tournament, i can see them make it into the semis or even the final with their home advantage, and lewandowski has played an excellent season. i might go with this choice.

If our coach wasn't stupid and played Huntelaar as striker (and v. Persie on another position) Huntelaar would win this quite easily. He's the best finisher in the box hands down. He was topscorer of the qualification tournament as well with 12 goals, despite not playing every game.

It's probably going to be another low-scoring tournament, with the weaker teams all being pretty good at defending, and those known for shooting a lot of goals pretty much in the same group (Portugal, Netherlands, Germany). My guess would be an offensive midfielder or winger to take the Golden Boot: Ribery, Robben, Sneijder, Ronaldo come to mind - or someone scoring really high in a group phase game.

Gomez is quite a hit-or-miss guy. If he plays (which is not sure afaik) and decides to be hit and not miss he will be top scorer. Klose probably will score some goals no matter what and make the offensive midfielders look even better.

While I'd generally agree with RVP, both Klose and Muller have a crazy ability to just get goals, whether they play well or not
