Cool stuff :D
You could also add stuff like how many invited players are left / open bracket players etc.
Sad so many liquid players out of the liquid starleague TT
|
Pretty well done!!! There are some huge upsets here lol
|
Working on the seeding part next
|
Also interesting: The server (or training environment) statistic (counting qxc to NA and ret/idra to KR, because they are not long in Europe/America):
Korea: MC, Boxer, Nada, (Sen), Jinro, Idra, Huk, Loner, Haypro, Ret, Nestea, Genius, MVP, FruitDealer: 4 - 10 Europe: Thorzain, Naniwa, Morrow, Kas, White-Ra, Goody, HasuObs, Mondragon, Adelscott, Strelok, Ciara, Nightend, Zeerax, TLO: 9 - 5 America: Cruncher, QXC, Tyler, Fenix: 3 - 1
|
Naniwa vs Ret should not be lag dependent seeing as Ret is back in The Netherlands.
|
I think you want 3/3 from TSL2 seeding to be 100% instead of 33%. Excellent work regardless. It's interesting to see how the TLOpen qualified players succeeded far more often than the Korean/Asian Invited players.
|
so theres barely no koreans
|
nice stats.
BUT about 70% of the top koreans and 40% of the top europeans are missing.
For na... there is some of root... and Kiwikaki/TT1/Select most likely
|
Open Events 7 - 1
More open events! lol.

Tried to kept the OP as objective as possible, here's the editorial:
Factors that strongly over-perform: Training - Europe, America Seeding - Open Event, TSL2 placement
Factors that slightly over-perform: Server - EU\NA
Factors that has no influence on performance: Region - All Seeding - Open Ranking
Factors that slightly under-perform: Server - K\A
Factors that strongly under-perform: Training - Korea Seeding - Korean/Asian Invites

How many of the matches were affected by lag/delay? I'm concerned about players that might have unfairly lost due to lagginess (MVP?)
|
My interpretation of the data is that lag has marginal affect on the outcome of the matches. Instead, the strongest factor that affect the outcome is prior involvement with the TSL. Those that were heavily involved in the past (through TSL1&2 or qualifiers) made more of an effort to prepare for the matches, while those that was invited in made less of effort in preparation.
For example,
Idra is an American that received an invite who practices in Korea, he lost playing in NA server to CruncheR, an American that won an Open Event while training in NA.
Ret is an European that received an invite who practices in Korea, he lost playing in EU server to NaNiwa, an European that won an Open Event while training in EU.
Sen is an Asian that placed in TSL2 who practices in Korea (server), he won playing in EU server (presumely) against Fenix, an American (Peru) that qualified through ranking while training in NA.

Great info man. That's pretty interesting how everything broke down. Well done.
Can you do it by SC2 race? How many Zergs, Terrans, Toss'es made it through?
|
well jee cripes europe seems pretty imba atm
|
Looks like less Korean invites next time
|
QXC is debatably in a European training environment currently.
|
Impressive record from the open event winners.... shows they weren't a fluke
|
A rather unpleasant stat is that Team Liquid are only 1/8 out of the Ro32.
I think a Team Liquid home stadium would help.
|
Open Events: 7 - 1 (T)Kas (2:1), (P)NaNiwa (2:1), (P)CrunCher (2:1), (P)White-Ra (2:1),(T)ThorZaIN (2:0), (T)QXC (2:0), (P)HasuObs (2:1), (P)NightEnD (1:2)
Thats really the stat that stuck out to me. the invites might have been responsible for most of the hype around this tournament. But behind the scenes these guys have been quietly preparing
if i had to vote now i may be against so many invites for the next TSL
|
these stats, while interesting, don't mean a whole lot. You guys are reading into them way too far.

Very impressive showing by the Open Event winners. I'm actually very surprised by that, although it goes to show that the qualifying system worked.

well nobody lost unfairly... of course some seem to be affected by latency but let's not take the wins from the winners.. they came prepared and executed the game plan...
|
Also looks like the current picture of Korea, Sweden, USA, and Germany as the top4 nations is getting stronger. I would love to see a nation cup and hopefully Canada, Ukraine, France and China (and maybe Finland) can battle the top4!

This. There are quite a few posts on TL claiming that all the koreans losing is due to lag, but did you see Nada vs TLO? He manages to banshee harass for several minutes, while TLO had turrets up in both bases and he got double digit kills with both banshees and managed to win convincingly. The same could be said of Boxer vs Nightend, all the micro required from bio appeared to not be an issue for Boxer.
This is a strategy game and the players won because of strategy. You can't expect to have a tournament with such big names and not expect an upset, or many. It is fairer to call it luck than lag, because it is a best of 3 and anything can happen.

Why no spoiler tags?! I assumed there wouldnt be match results since there was no spoilers.
