It's all about character, and I don't mean the mushy "real" kind, I mean the limelight character.
That's one of the things that I like about this particular scene. Even though I love tennis, and golf, and other sports, those interviews are so "upstanding," where their opponents are "extremely good and played well, and I played well and was able to take the win today," whereas in this community people feel a little more comfortable crafting a character image for themselves.
It's really cool.
So, MC's character is the Super Villain who is so obviously infinitely better than everyone (in his mind) that he tells the Super Heroes his plan because he is so confident that even if they know the plan they cannot stop it, lol!
