Of course its early to bring this into discussion, but I wanted to ask how the map pool will be decided. Are you going to mix old maps with the ones that are currently used on ICCup/ korean pro scene?

I'm asking the question cause Artosis made a good point in his last interview. Because WCG uses older maps IdrA practiced for the event with other foreigners instead of his CJ team mates. Now, I went through the Players Eligibility thread and my head still hurts, but speaking of whats "fair", I think if the map pool consists of currently used maps, in my book IdrA and ret would have a clear advantage in their preparation.

If its a 100% foreign tournament, what do you think about using brand new maps, especially made for TSL 2. There are some members in the community that imho are skillful enough to get the job done. With some proper testing before the tournament, the maps could be balanced as well to satisfy even Bisu.

Thank you for your time!

Play as recent maps as possible. I assumed this was a given. Better games will not be produced by forcing the two best players to compete on outdated maps, and it will make practicing at the higher levels of iccup more awkward.

I think brand new maps, that are inadequately tested in terms of balance and designed by amateurs, is a bad idea. Also again, hard to practice on them and a new set of maps for everyone to learn. No.

I think the 3 courage maps and 2 of the new maps would be a good combination.

Some of things we kept in mind.

- Map entertainment / viewer enjoyment
- Balance
- Differential in style between TSL maps

Other than that:

I'll place my bets on

Destination
Outsider SE
Heartbreak Ridge
Neo Medusa

In order of most to least likely. I'd like to see at least one older map though, just to spice things up a little.

Desti and Outsider are a given. Desti is just such a good, solid map that everyone knows and love. Outsider is conducive to some of the best games played recently and is overall an awesome map that everyone adores.

Return of the King is the only map needed. It's the perfect map.

Maybe mostly recent maps, and one or two gems from the past for entertainment? I know you guys don't like foreigner maps, but us foreign mappers could edit some of the older maps slightly here and there to modernize them if you so desired. Stuff like, fixing mineral formations, fixing geyser placement, modifying choke size, etc.

And of course I'd never say no to flat-out foreign maps~

I know Outsider is popular, but I don't know how entertaining it would be for this tournament. Seems like the long, drawn-out drop-based play that tends to occur on the map would get old fast, and our players are not as flexible at doing such radical plays as progamers; immitating progaming could potentially yield unsatisfactory games, relatively. That's why I think a blend of current, maybe-popular promaps, and some fun gems from the recent or even distant past could better fit the tournament.

I was really hoping for foreign maps to be used in the next TSL... :\

Nightmarjoo's post makes that obviously not the case.

in the old tsl forum there was a 15+ page thread about foreigner maps in the next tsl. there were many supporters but unfortunately it seemed that the result was that it wouldn't happen

there are lots of good foreign maps, i think having 1 or 2 would not hurt at all but they'd have to go through a lot of testing somehow ;/ also, monty hall ftw :D

well, if you're a player then using foreign maps or maps that aren't played on iccup is just a major pain in the ass because you can only practise with direct competition or not at all. and since so few foreigners are actually good that practise just kinda blows in general.

iccup is best place for prac so that's what ppl know
