I knew that there used to be one years ago and I spent a little bit of time looking for it but all I could find was this thread so I assumed things must have changed. I actually looked in reports too since I knew about that and can see those but the report that was in there wasn't relevant.

I know that some people got name changes upon becoming staff, and I was approved for a minor name change when I had a few thousand posts. It's probably just written there to prevent abuse / someone trying to pass as a completely different person.

I don't think anybody was confused about Wombat's identity for more than the 5 seconds it took me to realize that Wombat_NI had become Wombat_NornIron while reading a single post in USPol. That said, if NornIron is supposed to be clearer than NI about Wombat's location... it isnt  What exactly do the Norns have to do with Iron, and why is it related to Northern Ireland? Or is it supposed to be drunkspeak for Northern Ireland?

Actually, i didn't realize that until you just posted that. I assumed that they were two different persons. But i am a bit slow sometimes.

Could be a reference to iron league. I think I remember him saying somewhere that he changed his name because of a bet.

Firebolt got it, although in my native land people think my accent has a North American twinge. This name change was meant to clarify things, instead it’s lead to more confusion!
I may request a reversion due to this abject failure and not being able to get used to a new ID myself if the mod boys can tolerate my idiocy
