This thread is for discussing recent bans. Don't discuss other topics here. Take it to website feedback if you disagree with a ban or want to raise an issue. Keep it civil.NOTE: For those of you who want to find the actual ABL thread where the bans are posted. Please look in here: https://tl.net/forum/closed-threads/ |
No, there are several other factors like no extra curricular/organized activities, sex education/condoms, etc. I have traveled to many 5th-3rd world countries and have worked with organizations like the Red Cross to know that there are many factors.

Because American men prefer t.v. to sex................................

That sounds more like the reasons for pregnant teenagers in developed countries...

No ofc i dont belive that, have debated birth rates earlier and know that there are a huge number of factors involved. Just wanted to point out that there might be a tiny tiny grain of truth to it... I do know that when the power fails at home it's time to brush my teeth and place a water-bottle by the bed, but not sure how true it holds or the big picture

Guys! There's a thread for this. Keep it there.
dybydx was just temp banned for 90 days by Nyovne. That account was created on 2007-12-05 16:58:24 and had 1696 posts. Reason:Show nested quote +On February 09 2011 17:24 dybydx wrote: the more important question is: is she hot? You just managed to rack up pretty much every single kind of warning or ban there is to give on this site with notes to permanently ban you on your next transgression. Well this is that transgression but since I'm in a lenient mood and somehow recovered some faith in humanity during last night I'm going to give you three months to think about this and how you are going to do better when you return to us here. One tip, think before you post from now on and ponder if you'd find it a suitable reply to a comment made by Manifesto's mother in law (who wields a mean switch and is very high on respect I must mention). Not sure if 90 days is more lenient than a permanent ban. I was under the impression that you'd probably be able to get a new account in less than 90 days after getting a permanent ban. I might just be making that up though. Also, there's the downside of not being able to keep your name.
I like the last part. Unless, of course, you're actually a reasonable person and post like you are talking to another reasonable person. I guess if you have trouble with that then you can imagine talking to Manifesto's mother-in-law.

in the meantime, this is a pretty funny post by hot bid regarding the moderation

Hence, moderation is non-objective. If you irritate someone's feelings around here or if they think you are wrong, you'll get penalized. Granted, every forum requires rules and strict moderation. But it needs good rules and it needs a commitment to objectivity. Otherwise you get a bunch of sucker-uppers who all agree with what the "men of the law" think and feel.
You guys want to choose a favorite mod, go ahead. I personally think the only thing to choose here would be the lesser of options that are fairly bad... Your illustrious history on this site: ----- You register your first account ----- 1 warning for racism 2 warnings for flaming 1 warning for backseat moderating 2 warnings for +1's / spam / one liners 1 warning for calling NesTea fans trolls 1 ban for posting "Mods piss me of" after 7 previous warnings. ----- You register new account ----- 90 day ban for complaining that TLO gets preferential treatment on forums ----- You register new account ----- Ban for trying to circumvent previous ban. ----- You register new account ----- (This one, Liberty7) 1 warning for "pics please" harassment of female members
Feel free to give us an honest critique of moderation. Anyone is free to make a thread in Website Feedback about it. Nobody will be banned for that. Just keep it out of this thread. But please don't act like you are some neutral party without an agenda. Again: do not derail this topic into a discussion on moderation. If you want to continue this discussion, there is a time and place -- remake a thread in Website Feedback. Thanks!

His response makes it even better:
Humm... no agenda. That was my boyfriend's account. We live together. I do not have a double account. I only posted whatever Liberty7 posted.

There is nothing to confirm his feeling because the two are only very loosely correlated, at best. The increased child bearing rate has more to do with agrarian societies with low life expectancy where more children are necessary for survival. In industrial societies, where only adults work, children are a cost to living.
Lack of protection is part of it, but birth rates declined in most industrializing countries before contraception became common. This isn't some new phenomenon.
Either way, yeah, let's stop the derailment.

Hahah, I felt like the lock+ban of the hamster story (primarily the ban) were a bit harsh... he put a funny spin on the story but I felt like he genuinely tried to care for the hamster, even if the circumstances regarding the purchase of said hamster were questionable.

Arbattack was bad news. Glad someone got rid of him. Seemed like a lot of his "blogs" / posts were brag blogs / something terrible with a funny twist on it(probably not true).

Hahah, makes sense. I have a dog in the family, love him to death, but I've also had a hamster in my childhood, and I know how incredibly frustrating and aggravating and helpless it is to have a wild hamster on the loose, so I actually sort of empathized with the poster, and thus I thought it was harsh for the double-whammy, but I can understand the posting history not helping the guy.

Why? He was clearly proud to present his story of buying a hamster with his friend to mess around with and how it died in his subwoofer. If he really cared about the hamster he wouldn't have made a thread portraying it as a funny story. He was only sorry his Logitech speakerset died.
It was good the thread got closed, because my post wasn't devoid of the word "asshole".
