The writing is indeed highly ordinary, but that's sort of the point of a series of novels that seeks to focus on a grand, character-driven story arc. The point is that ones' enjoyment of the GoT story and their willingness to read the books ought to be directly correlated. | ||

Doesn't necessarily make them unentertaining by virtue of qualifying, nor am I comparing RR Martin to high Russian literature in any other sense than his love of adjectives, but it is worth saying. I am not as concerned as I was two seasons ago, but if I didn't care I would say go ahead and spoil it. No real ubiquitous rules to abide by other than going, "Wait how far along are you?" and tailoring your answer from there. | ||
