I don't think what neo said is equivalent to saying somebody is "beating himself up". The way neo says "someone buy [x] a box of razers" is more like supporting self-cutting, wanting the player to self-harm. Neo seems to taking great pleasure in how bad he imagines [x] is/was feeling. To me that is the big difference, although personally I'm against self-harm jokes in general because it is a serious problem for some people and some things we should be sensitive about when making jokes.

Hm, self-harm is a sore point for some, but I don't really see it as a sacred cow that jokes can't be made about. If Squirtle had come out in an interview and said he self-harmed, that would be different thing altogether and would take on a more vicious form.

I was in communication with MoonBear over PMs, unaware of this discussion here. I found the ban surprising because self-harm posts of that kind were common in conjunction with MKP. My example was:

So it seems that posts on self-harm are not immediately ban-worthy. However, I still think that neo went one stage beyond just mentioning self-harm/suicide by seemingly wanting a player to self-harm. I'm not surprised that that would earn neo a ban.

I assumed the ban wa for player bashing anyway which is pretty unambiguous. I just dont agree with making some forms of joke off-limits. Self harm is a serious problem for some and emotionally scarring, but then again so is being overweight or physically unattractive, and these jibes are oft-tolerated by many.
The mods do a great job here by having clear guidelines on acceptable posting that they largely stick to. By making certain forms of humour unacceptable, tolerating others it will create uncertainty and make their job more difficult in the long run

I like me a good conspiracy theory as much as the next guy, really I spent a fair bit of time sifting through 9/11 debunking mess because I love seeing the science and mostly "science," behind that shit but with NK? That basically rides the short bus to conspiracy school.
