EDIT#2: Thanks a lot to everyone that attended this event, the great attitude and friendlyness from everyone made this Barcraft what we were hoping for, and we really feel that this turned out quite well!
Still we had some technical issues, despite thorough testing in advance, but thankfully our backup system worked ok ( well, decently), and these issues will surely be adressed until the next event, thats a promise! We will also be sure to have more seating, bartenders and cooks etc., due to the great amount of feedback from the public we have a good idea of the areas that needs improvements, so also a big thanks to all of you that provided us this feedback!!
Stay tuned to TL.net,Twitter,Facebook( Starcraft 2 Oslo ),Reddit etc. for updates and feedback regarding future events, and thanks a lot once again, to everyone that showed up and enjoyed MLG Providence with us at Barcraft Oslo !!
EDIT: At the moment we are 286 people "facebook-attending". Since the numbers are growing at a good pace, and we now are featured on the frontpage of gamer.no and just started hanging up some posters, we figured we might need some more space. And thus I am happy to announce that we will be able to have a 3rd. floor if it gets packed, that means 3 more canvases for games, another bar and a little backyard for smoking ( with a screen and speakers so one can watch games meanwhile)! So, everything looking good, and welcome to Barcraft Oslo !!!!!
Hi Teamliquid !!
We are now in the midst of organizing a Barcraft event for MLG - Providence in Oslo !!
This will be the first Barcraft in Oslo, but hopefully and probably, not the last. The organizers have a long sighted plan for these events, and so do the bar we plan on co-operating with.
The bar is excellent for the event, with 3 HD projectors showcasing the games, and a capasity for hosting up to 200 participants at once. In addition we got our own entrance and bar, and some food serving as well, so everything seems to be in perfect order for starting up a good tradition. Since this is the first event in a hopefully long line of them, we will only be showing the sunday games. But if a lot of people show up and everything turns out good, we will hopefully host the entire event for the entire future of MLG!
Below is some spesific info regarding the Barcraft:
Event Date: 11.20.2011 - MLG Providence Finale Day
Event Page: Link to facebook-event , more to come.
Location: Oslo, Norway
Venue Name: The Scotsman http://www.thescotsman.no/
Stream: MLG, both red and blue.
Time: From 16.00 local time- until the finals are over.
Additional info:
The age limit will be 18+ , so no hard liquor served! Food served at a decent price, there will be hamburgers, chickenwings, fish and chips etc.! The pub is easy to locate in the midst of Karl-Johan street! There will be contests during breaks, with a grand prize!!!!
This is the first event, in what we hope to be many, so everyone please behave and have a great time. Spread the word and invite your friends, and this will be the best Barcraft ever !!!
Feel free to comment with hints or tips or whatever you got! Looking forward to seeing you all for a great night of Barcrafting !!
Best regards
Stacks

Awesome! I might just drive from Trondheim to do this. It will go down in history as the first norwegian barcraft.

|
Oh yeah! Barcrafts in Oslo and Trondheim popping up lately, only a matter of time until we get one here in Bergen I hope!

As veganwa pointed out, Norway's first Barcraft was probably located in Trondheim. While the organizers haven't yet announced a Barcraft for MLG Providence, it's very likely to happen since last barcraft was a success. If you live in Trondheim you should definitely check out the Starcraft 2 Trondheim Facebook group where information about a Barcraft will be posted as soon as it's ready.
EDIT: Barcraft Trondheim for those of you living in/around Trondheim.
|
Nice! Definitely going to that one!
|
We are now 200 people attending, wich means the place will be filled up quite nicely. Might have to ask the manager if we can get another floor in addition
Looking forward to see you people, and glhf in Bergen as well!!
|
Would love a barcraft in Kristiansand or Grimstad
|
I'll be there!!! Was hoping this would happen some day :D
|
Awesome! Will definitely try to be there. Hopefully I can drag some friends along...
|
Can anyone simply show up and join?

Don't forget the golden rule of facebook attendees :/ yes = maybe maybe = no no = hell no!

Nice to see barcrafts taking off here in Norway as well. Would love to attend, but Oslo is a bit far away.
|
|
I wish I lived in Norway...
Then again I guess I'll just drive down the street to Providence. This is like the first big event that's ever happened in RI. I'm so excited and barcraft is awesome! :D

That rule is truly golden in general, but for this spesific event i feel that the people interested are truly devoted, and the general feedback supports this:-D Still it is true that yes=maybe,so i guess the roof for requesting more space is a lot higher than 200!

Hey everyone, and thanks for nice feedback! Now the event is featured at the front page of gamer.no with a nice little article concerning Barcraft Oslo and Barcrafting in general, be sure to check it out

Why is it bullshit, just because you live another place ? Consider it a good thing for the comunity in general, and keep an eye out, there has already been a very succesful Barcraft in Trondheim and im sure there will be more
|
Great initiative and great location! I'll be there and I'll try to bring some more people. Lets show "The Scotsman" that E-sports has come to stay!
Even taking the day off work that monday, with just two other options, sleeping for 2-3 hours or not sleeping at all, I'll rather just take the whole day.
|
Oh my god this is so epic I've got to attend this!
|
This is so awesome! Might even take the buss from elverum to join!

I hope they will do this. I dont want to sit with noobs who cant play starcraft.
Looking forward to this. Also will there be HD pass, so that we can watch the other 2 streams when there is downtime on Blue and Red?

Make sure to do a internet check before the event. You are sure it is fast and stable enough to stream multiple streams at once? Should not be a problem, but you never know.

Yes, please do some sort of rehersal the day prior or before the finals
|

will sadly miss this now as I am still in germanyderp, seems like it will be a huge success though (assuming everything technical works out fine) with around 500 people attending on facebook, so hopefully wont be so long for next Oslo barcraft.

From what I can gather from the facebook page its allready packed and people are waiting for them to open another floor. I might go if that other floor opens, only lives 15 mins away or so.
Great initiative

Thanks for a great event. Lots of beer, completely packed venue (heard someone say close to 400) and great atmosphere.
Big shoutout to guys/gals organizing.
|
Nice event, although had a bit less of a nice day today My chief complaint would be the beer price and not enough seating. All in all great fun though. Was definitely not expecting a queue when i went outside for a cig around 5 or 6.
|
Hehe, yeh, the line kinda surprised us as well
Regarding the beer price, we had to convince some venue that this would attract people, and starting from scratch we didnt have much ability to alter beer prices. But we did convicned in a manner that really blew them away, so now we have the weight we need to discuss beer prices and more goodstuff for upcoming events!
I would recommend everyone to join Starcraft 2 Oslo for updates about upcoming events!
Thanks a lot once again to everyone that showed up, looking forward to next time!!
