That's the worst nickname. Everyone would start calling him EGG. I don't know what it is with Korean's always changing their nicknames all the time. Stick with one lmao.

With that said, everyone knows him as PuMa. It's much better to simplify and this way people recognize you from both communities.

I love the idea of people supporting players, but I've always found greeting a player at an airport to be a bit weird.

I mean, I guess I could see it for someone like Boxer, who is a legitimate legend and hero in the StarCraft community, but for anyone else it feels strange.

Anyway, welcome back to the states Puma!

If there's a stop, it'll probably be in Alaska or the Pacific NW. Or a connection at a hub. At least, when I flew to Korea years and years ago we stopped in Anchorage to fuel up.

AFAIK there is no direct flight from ICN to PHX, probably a stopover at SEA/LAX/SFO

A smartass, peachy.

When it's actually nice out there yes. In this case the term summer home is a bit misleading. It's always summer time in Arizona. -.-

I travel there frequently between October to March. April and May is a bit of a stretch. Best time to go down there is for Spring Training and the Cactus League. My favorite NBA team is also the Phoenix Suns so it all works out.

Winter home is probably a more appropriate term. It probably feels like 150 F there right now.

Koreas pretty hot itself, aint it? I think it's probably even more. Excuse my ignorance. However, thefuckingweather.com says Seoul is currently hotter, so he should be fine :3.

lol are u joking? Phoenix is the hottest metropolis in the US. Average temp during summer is 105-112. Forecast for Monday is 110.

I hope he doesn't find it too discomforting tho haha. and shit i didnt even think about the parking ticket... weak.

After the atrocious way PuMa was treated by the crowd during IEM, I really hope he sees this greet and realises most of us are actually very welcoming to the korean players.

I just wish I was able to attend as well. =(

What happened in IEM?

EDIT: I'll take a guess it has something to do with being an EG and going up against EU players. If that is the case, then we wouldn't have any koreans coming back by the end of the year at MLG!

I was there today and enjoyed the good games. What I did not enjoy was the following. I'm not sure if the incident has been mentioned before.

If you watched the stream you probably saw how enthusiastically Socke was greeted by the fans. The crowd got heated up by Take even more.
Don't get me wrong, while I wouldn't call myself a fan I have nothing against Socke, I enjoyed quite a few games of him. But as an anti-nationalist I don't see why I should root for him because of where he was born.
When Puma entered the stage there were quite a few "boo"-shouters. I don't know if they did it because of the EG "scandal", because he is Korean or simply because he was Sockes opponent and they would have done it against anyone else.
When I cheered for Puma after good actions by him, showcasing his superior play, I in fact earned angry reactions. Just because I was for the wrong player. Again, this might have been anti-EG, it might have been anti-Socke's opponent, but the point is, it doesn't really matter.

I don't know if the following was on the stream:
In the commercial break between the second and third match Take entered the stage to announce that there had been attempts of glaring Puma with a laser pointer while the second match was going on. Take said that if they were continued they would send everyone away and let the players end the series backstage to assure the matches could be played under fair conditions. They actually had an IEM guy stand in front of Puma in the third match to prevent further incidents.

Now, while I am a political person, I usually try to not let that interfere with my hobby. If people have to root for a player because of his home country I let them have their fun, as long as they don't hop on the "No Koreans at MLG!"-bandwagon or shit like that. But today a line was crossed for me when I experienced hostility because I rooted for the "wrong" player. The laser pointer act might have been executed by a stupid troll, but it might as well have been a overzealous Socke fan.

My point is: I am disgusted by even the possibility of this being a trend in the esports community. What if that weren't just a few stupid individuals? I hope that every esports fan who witnesses behavious similar to what I described in this post distances him- or herself from it and feels ashamed if people not related to esports see them as representatives of our hobby and scene. Please do everything to keep esports positive, international and open to everybody, and first of all: keep it revolving around the fun!

TL:DR - PuMa was boo'ed by the crowd, people who cheered for him got "angry reactions" from other people in the crowd, and worst of all he had a laser pointer aimed at his face when he was playing.

EDIT: I'll take a guess it has something to do with being an EG and going up against EU players. If that is the case, then we wouldn't have any koreans coming back by the end of the year at MLG!

Please don't blame a whole nation for the childish behaviour of some jerks who don't understand that esports is a real buisness. in the midst of thousands of people they probably felt anonym and cool to do some shitty things. in real sports such stuff happens all the time. as i heard in here ESL had good reactions though.

I don't know if you know this but in day 1 some guy threw some sort of object at Mr. BItter and Socke while they were casting a game in the main stage... I don't know what's wrong with people.

I completetly agree I just don't understand why iem hasn't done anything to prevent such incidents.

was pretty cool, even though the flight was a little over an hour late, and then we waited roughly 30-40 mins for him to get through customs, but man it was cool, Thank you to VATO_Gandir for taking a picture of me and puma (T_T kid that took it on my phone didnt know about image stablization QQ) and was really cool seeing all the people that showed up for Puma..... ARIZONA FIGHTING!!!!!

ps: We saw Steve Nash come off the same flight as puma, was pretty cool seeing as I was the only one that noticed, and then Scoots was like "GO STEVE", steve waved, and then some fanbois chased him down for a pic :D

We want a dinner next time scoots for AZ community, would be awesome!

Wtf? He had his big IEM check with him? Did he have it carry on or did he check it and have to pick it up at the baggage carousel? That's hilarious.

Thanks so much Scoots and the EG team. Any idea when the pictures/montage will be up?

I felt really bad for PuMa as he rounded the terminal. I'm sure the last thing I'd want after a ~15 hour flight and a ~1hr wait in customs is to have a bunch of strange looking people screaming at me.

Steve Nash came out ~20 minutes before PuMa did, although there was joking that it would make an epic picture, and an even more epic response from Nash when he realized he wasn't the celebrity in the room.
