Religion threads are banned on TL. Further derailment will be met with immediate permanent bans. |
I have no problem with helping out senior members of the community and members that are always contributing to the scene. Even if TL's stance has been to close these threads no matter what I don't think anyone should have a problem with them changing that rule to accommodate senior members on a case by case basis.

Voted. Melt my heart if she makes it. Hope she mentions Starcraft 2. Most likely not...

10 votes a day is super annoying. I've voted 2 sets of 10 as who can resist the uN/iN-controL-able duo? However, before I'm truly motivated to vote that many times any time soon, I want to know, preferably updated in the op, do out of country votes count? Or only Americans? Because as much as I'd like to see Anna win with TL's contribution, I'm not very interested on wasting time on votes that won't count.
Gogo uNcontroLable!

Who are you to call out admins to either close the thread or explain themselve to you? No offense, but people around here should be a bit more humble.

While I personally don't mind, it's about being inconsistent. When admins are inconsistent about the rules they enforce they deserve to be called out about it.
Incontrol: "love you fudd but we don't do voting on TL anymore." Now on SotG he's saying, "It's a Miss USA pageant.. WHO CARES?"

I beg to differ, if i remember correctly, there is a thread about 10 rules of TL forums or something and you can feel that they give a lot more freedom to people they deem deserving. Which is fine imho. But in the end, its not my opinion that matters

voted 10 times, hope she wins! Would be a great thing for the community! Also happy b.day to me ^_^

Not every thread is created equal. This is a big deal to somebody in this community. Not an "upvote me so my blog gets more hits" or thing like that. 100% consistency only matters if everybody is equal; they're not.

So how does the staff determine who is "more equal" than the other? Fuddx is a longtime vet and a longtime contributor so I don't really see much difference between him and uncontrollable.

You're implying they need a perfect set of rules that is always applicable. This is not some gigantic injustice, and the fact that it's even being discussed is ridiculous to me. This is for Miss USA, it's kinda' a big deal. To suggest that Fudd's was on the same level is just lying to yourself, and that's nothing against the guy.
slight edit: Pretending there is a perfect answer to making exceptions is ridiculous. But at the same time, allowing no exceptions is even more ridiculous.

I'm not, I think Fuddx deserves for his thread not to have been closed down if anna deserves for this one not to be closed down. He has a star. Uncontrollable doesn't. That in an of itself is very telling of how much more of a contributor Fuddx is. He's been here since forever (2002) and he's contributed greatly to the website.

You missed the point. It has less to do with the individual and more to do with what you're voting for. Miss USA is a pretty big deal. It's not like you have to worry about a lot of other threads on this level popping up.
edit: The part you didn't quote of my post is also the most important. Exceptions to rules have to be allowed, it's just the way it is. No exceptions leads to more complaints than that.

If you have problems with the thread, PM a mod or ask in the ASK TL staff Anything thread or in the Feedback thread, don't derail this any further then it already has right now.
Vote for Anna while you are at it ^^.

Miss USA is a big deal to her, and I would guess Inc. To alot of people however it isn't one. Can you honestly tell me that a forum full of gamers would actively go out and vote for this if someone hadn't pointed out there was someone they have a connection with in it? Miss USA is a big deal to specific people, just as what Fudd was doing would have been a big deal for him at the time. Prioritizing who is and isn't an exception to the rules you mention should come down to the user, not the instance being brought up.

If you can't objectively tell me that the Miss USA pageant isn't a bigger deal than a balloon competition, well then I guess there's nowhere to go with this conversation.
BUT, it's still getting away from the main point. Exceptions to rules should always be allowed. TL isn't a group of fascists who can't understand circumstances. At the same time though, they still do want to enforce their rules. This whole thing is so blown out of proportion it's ridiculous. People's supposed sense of injustice on forums is always ridiculous exaggerated.

Don't care about miss usa but will support someone that does work in the community.
didn't even look at another page before voting 10x. And lol at the people that make it seem like she dates inc and did mlg stuff and asked blatantly scripted questions on sotg so she can win miss usa.
Although if she wins i forsee many beauty queens lurking at tl.

Can't tell? Miss USA means literally nothing to me, no pageant does. Alot of the things that are involved at least in its portrayal is very shallow and demeaning to both women and american culture. I have seen the stuff Fudd does, it makes me smile, he does this for parties for children and the like and actively makes a difference in the lives of people. It will always be about perspective, don't think to tell people which is a bigger deal and which isn't it comes down to the person's perspective.
