What's going on
Are you unsatisfied with the size of Lost Temple? Do you ever wish Xel'Naga Caverns was longer? Then you and the GSL committee have something in common! Join us for the 5th monthly Starcraft 2 tournament at Cybercraft and show us what you can do on some new, innovative GSL maps :D

Tournament Format
+ Show Spoiler +- Single elimination
- First map: BO3 starting on MLG Metalopolis.
- Loser of the first game will always pick the next map.
- Each player is allowed one map veto per match.
- Maps may not be reused within a match.
- Finals: BO7 starting on GSL Tal'Darim Altar.
Tournament Rules
+ Show Spoiler +- Each player is responsible for their own time/account at the netcafe ($4/hour or $3/hour with membership). If you run out of time in the middle of a game, it is an automatic loss.
- Players must wear their name tags during the tournament.
- There will be NO walk-in sign ups. However, spectators are very much welcome.
- Players will check in from 12:00PM to 12:45PM. The tournament starts at 1:00PM and all technical problems should be resolved beforehand.
- No spectators are allowed in-game.
- Bad manners will not be tolerated.
- There are a lot of breakable doodads at the netcafe. You break it, you buy it.
Lag/Disconnect Rules
- If battle.net mass disconnects before the finals, all games will be replayed by default.
- If battle.net disconnects during the finals, the games will be replayed at the discretion of the hosts. A decision will be made with input from the audience.
- If there is an unplayable amount of lag on your computer, pause the game and ask a host to check the state of your lag. The game may be replayed if the lag is caused by the computer. Games will NOT be replayed if the player lags because they set the graphics settings to ultra/ultra.

This is a StarCraft 2 Tournament
The first thing you do when you walk in is check-in with me! I will be holding a blue clipboard and will direct you to where you need to go. It is vital that you remember who I am because I will be the main person managing the tournament as it goes.
All players must check in with me before they start their match as well as report the results to me after the match. That way I know when a match is in progress and know when a victor has emerged. If you report results for a game that I was did not know was in progress, the results may be scrapped and the series will be replayed
There are a lot of changes between this event and the last, make sure you know what is going on
Do NOT be late
+ Show Spoiler +Check-in ends around 12:45pm. Make sure you are checked in with me as soon as you come in. Anyone NOT checked in with me by 12:45pm will be dropped from the tournament and replaced. Everyone on the back-up list is recommended to show up because there are always people who are late and you guys are the ones who will be replacing them. Even if you don't get spot in the tournament it is still a great place and opportunity to meet new players and make friends.

Bring In-ear headphones
+ Show Spoiler +Games will be casted and players in those games must wear noise canceling headsets that we provide. Players MUST bring their own in-ear headphones to wear with the provided headset to eliminate all spoilers of the match in progress.
Do Not Offensive GG
+ Show Spoiler +Excessive BM and offensive gg'ing (gg'ing for your opponent) will result in a disqualification. No excuses, if you are reported for offensive gg'ing you will suffer the consequences.
Chat Channel
+ Show Spoiler +Chat channel used will be 'Team Liquid New York'
Please join that channel when you arrive at cybercraft and get on a computer,
It will let us know you are at a computer, and will make it easy to PM you if we need you
It also helps to make general announcements
If you are having technical issues call one of the tournament hosts over and we will try to get things up and running as soon as possible

Also, Xel'Naga's boring. Metalopolis is in the map pool to provide one familiar map, but since it's BO3 and single elim, I'd like people to play on at least one GSL map in their match.

Firstly, Anime Castle is not a PC bang. Secondly, gamers aren't their target audience. Starcraft 2 nerds aren't really the type that are obsessive over anime. Thirdly, 32 people is a TINY amount. The store already has a fairly large loyal fanbase. We can't include the people who view the stream because they're likely not in the local area.

The store already has a fairly large loyal fanbase. We can't include the people who view the stream because they're likely not in the local area. Anyhoo it was just an idea.

And yeah obviously it is the TLNY amount... because it is a TLNY event and thats where the sponsor would reach? It doesn't have to be a local sponsor and you can include stream viewers, IE: Das keyboards. If the store has a loyal fanbase and its not our audience why even bring it up then lulz...

Im not down for the anime place tournament thing...
Why are we spending money somwhere else just to increase the prize pool by maybe 50-100$ tops? for that we might as well just have a buy-in and have an even bigger prize pool which is a discussion we've already had a couple times.
not to mention your causing a split between that place and cyber craft...
If you guys wanna have a SF4 or MvC3 tournament I say you keep it separate and do it on its own, not so that we can have a slightly larger prize pool for the 4-5 players who actually stand a chance to win.

My first time there I got knocked out first round (CoughPokebunnyCOugh) and I just spent the rest of the time practicing with random people. I highly encourage it. Criticism of play is so much easier to receive when you're right next to the person.

practice league only helps you to learn what units do what
after that, go into ladder and play real games, ask community for sparing games and all that

and then theres the problem of what people choose to recall
when people have something to complain about, for example mirror match ups, they complain to everyone and tell the whole world
but when something good happens, like when they dont get a mirror match, they only tell one person and its soon forgotten (unless its something epic to brag about)

Well, I'm certainly going to try and make a schedule for myself and the tournament to run by, because it was difficult to know, last time, when a break was happening, when we'd go back to back and I figured it'd be easier for everyone to have definites of when things were on and be easier on me, at least (hopefully cert too) as to when we can just chill for a few.

Well, it depends on what type of dinner we are going to have because CSheep, Kibibit and I are going to Picnic Garden after the LAN to determine who can eat the most. (Sorry QuickStriker, too bad you have work and can't come.)
There have always been community dinners, it's just that people don't have the patience to wait until the end of the LAN to eat as finishing the bracket takes a while. Otherwise, all of you can set something up after the LAN, and that would totally be fine with me.

I live in Kew Gardens and its pretty decent here. Near the Union Turnpike station with the E/F trains. I moved here pretty recently, and it was pretty cheap compared to the ones we looked at. Forest Hills is also great, but really expensive.

NYU's CSL team only started with 4 or 5 people and now we have a huge roster.

The maps in the map pool are not yet final, was gonna finalize them and put down their names and publishers a few days ago but got lazy and procrastinated and now i dont have much time cuz im in the middle of midterms ><
however no new map would be implemented this close to the date of the tourney, only maps with noticeable problems like glitches and stuff would be removed
hopefully ill have the list of names and stuff on tonight or tomorrow xD

you could toss in a few MLG variants of blizz ladder maps, and then force the usage of GSL maps on a round to round basis

if only the starting map is forced GSL then its likely that the players will pick old blizz maps as losers pick cuz its maps theyre more familiar with

i would say 50%, alot of people tend to drop last minute, and im sure the current roster hasnt been updated to include those people who have dropped.
From our previous tournaments i would say that 99% of the people on our back up list had an opportunity to compete in the actual tournament.
