Toronto has been having LANs I can remember going to since I was 17 and suddenly now it's for ESports?...

I dont mind playing tournament just for fun. If there is price, sure things will get more intense, but even without it, I think we will have fun. However, whats more important - i believe - is when are we going to meet, and where.
Locationwise, I got one or two internet cafe in Downtown near bathurst, that has SC2 set up in almost all pcs. (but again, not all pc are good) I dont mind going uptown internet cafe, like YK or Turbo either.
Now for the time, I dont know about Waterloo people, but for us, uofT we got reading week starting Febuary 19 ~ Feb 28th. I am not gonna make my word on it, but many people are students, so reading week will be best time to meet. Or weekend.

Why dont we just go back to the old ways, winner of the tourney, wins....dinner! We dont need prizes to get our nerd of for a Saturday afternoon
Things will be more interesting now anyways, since it won't just be JF coming for the free eats anymore. Where is that turbo place you speak of? The last LAN i went too at YK, we used all the comps and some people didn't even get one. is Turbo any bigger?

That will do. Turbo is.... somewhat same size as YK but sometimes get crowded.
Its 5 min by Transit from YK or 15~20 walk.

Ya there are a number of toronto events with actual prizes that are real turnies...
I was just thinking that it would be fun social event, give the proskills a chance to meet up with others and talk strats and test things out, let the noobs chill and try to find the e key on a new keyboard, you know, just hang around and have fun. Play some customs and then eat some cheap korean bbq or whatever is near by you know? heh
ya reading week the way to go I'm thinking that the 20th sounds like a good date.
If those who have been to 'em think Turbo is the place, thats the the place edit: lets see what chromate comes up with he does have a nack for impressing

I've got an idea of where to host the lan. I first have to ask a friend but might be able to get something nice.

There was a 1v1 tournament at Turbo in October/November 2010, and I really liked the place. I would definitely show up to a tournament to see all of you guys again. Had a great time at the event last week!
(I won't be playing well at all though... Switched exclusively to Z and I am getting owned!) =D

WELL I DID GOOD TODAY, so long story short. The event will be COMPLETELY FREE as so say no entry fee, no donations.
There will be an absolute minimum of a 600$ prize pool however I intend to at least double that.
The planned date as of now is the 26th, there will be an online tournament before hand down to 32 players. For the first 3 hours at the cafe (9:00am-12:00pm) it will just be for fun, custom maps etc. after that the tournament will be played out. The event will be streamed by micro and someone on one of the GosuGamer streams. I'm seeing about renting a bar or theater right next to the internet cafe for spill over.
Anyway I'll make a new thread for this but first I would like to know if that date works for everyone.

That's amazing. I think we should do UW vs UT as exhibition match. Korean style.
Most likely me, slained, sooch will be there, so 3:3 will do perfectly fine, or 4:4.
Do you have place though? I dont see any internet cafe that has 40 computers. (lol)
Also is it going to be DownTown or Uptown. Thanks again chromate! Good to have you in Toronto!

Good man. You get things done, and quickly to boot.

The place is Infiniti Cafe, they have 24 top of the line computers and as such the first round of 32 with be divided into two groups, it's uptown but totally accessible via TTC, The key to free is that my friend who runs the internet cafe is matching my prize and allowing us to use the cafe for the day. As of now there are still a million things to hammer out so to start off I need to confirm the day.

This sounds amazing. I am definitely going to participate. Thanks Chromate!
