Hey everyone,
So many of you guys know about the tournament that was held in Calgary at The Node in March and it's time for me to get some feedback so that I can time the June tournament to work with the other things I have planned for StarCraftMecca. So please feel free to post things you would like to see changed about how the tournament was as well as things you liked about the tournament.
I'm looking specifically (but not only) at things like whether we want it to be a BW or SC2 or both tournament, how the organization was, the cost, the dinner (actually I have our location figured out for this one and it's going to be amazing), etc.
As far as the exact details about the upcoming tournament, nothing is set up so everything will be done with your feedback in mind. Lets hope for another successful tournament and I hope to see all of you (and all of those who couldn't make it to the March one) there!

P.S. I had no idea where to put this thread but I didn't think it belonged in the Tournament section because it's not actual information about a tournament. If a MOD sees a need to move it to a different section please do so.

I'm not sure if everyone would have a chance to play sc2 by then, but on the other hand, there might be a lot more turnout if it focuses on sc2...
I'd be down (though I could not attend last time) for both games, but organizing it would be very difficult :/

I'm indifferent since I'm bad at both games at this point. Might just obs this time.

I've gotten decent at sc2 so I think I'd play both.

BW, + sc2 if possible but if not then just bw
organization was great, only problem i had was w/ getting my mouse installed properly
cost was fine by me
dinner was bad, i wouldnt go there again
Overall it was a great tournament and i would definitely go again. One thing of concern tho is that I was talking to the Node manager there while having difficulties w/ my mouse, and he said something along the lines of next time he wouldnt bother with outside equipment and wed have to all play on the Node stuff. Do you know if this is true?

Hi, I live in toronto but i come to calgary often for work. I'm supposed to come out in june, when were you planning on having it? Btw I mostly play sc2 right now but i would definitely come obs some bw

So far with the way things are going for StarCraftMecca, tournament will most likely be held mid to late June. Some of the basic preparations are already complete but we're working on a couple other things as well.

If the dinner place isn't set in stone. I would like to suggest going to that place by Arirang.
Its like SW Downtown. Right now its called like Dae Jang Guem. #22 1324 10 Ave SW. They're open until 11PM everyday, I think.

It wasn't that great.
I heard there's a spot in the north east that gets good reviews, so I'll try that next.

The one we went last time was + Show Spoiler + So as long as we don't go there again, it should be fine.

I'd show up if i can, although there are particular june dates which i cannot so i hope i'm lucky with the dates! As for bw or sc2, I don't mind having both, but i haven't had a chance to play sc2 yet because my computer sucks ass. I guess i could always try my best though lol. And chill im sure u still own the majority of us so you should just play! Oh and price was fine for me. ^_^ thanks again for organizing it all kore

It'll be during one of July 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 because people start working at Stampede and making it after Stampede seems too late unless a lot of people would rather have it after?

I Would embaress myself if we played BW, and less so if we played Sc2, but by no means am I good at Sc2. So it Really depends on the level of competition if I were to play. Like High Platinum to mid diamond would be my comfort zone. BW.... like D- (lol)

I say we go to Micheals sports bar. The pizza there is the best in Calgary. I think it should be the fist week of the 2nd phase of the beta. Where will this tournament be advertised? I want in.

we can't go to a bar because there are a lot of underaged people. Plz no canada day or canada day eve. id definately prefer before stampede though. dont want to wait that long lol and after that time im not sure when id be going camping

SC2 isn't going to be out in June is it? Umm I have exams and I'm sure there are other people that do too so I think June 20th-June 25th would be the best. I haven't been to any lan parties before so I'm not really sure what to look for, but I think some place to go eat is good... And then rent a big place to hang out in, we can bring beer and whatever, and maybe computers there. I'm sad I missed the last one.
