Women who strength train became 10-12% smarter over 12 month period compared to those who balanced and toned who suffered a .5% decrement in cognitive performance.
Is this sourced from that stumptuous site somewhere? If so, do you suppose you could link the article itself so I can send it to girls who insist that strength training will only make them into she-hulks?

From what I googled, the studies were how strength training helps the elderly...
Yes, being stronger makes you live longer.... given that being stronger tends to convey a more active lifestyle = better immune system, unlikelyhood of falling when elderly, etc.
Also, another one... "There is no such thing as “firming and toning.” There is only stronger and weaker."
Ripped off 12 scores and 13 conversion kicks for 86 points in ~4-5 games of 7's rugby in cleveland this weekend. I literally lost track of how much i was scoring as the day went on lol. We came in second place though, so i'm not too happy
And as a bonus, i sprained my wrist or something in the last game when some guy tackled me Limited range of motion and random twinges of pain are awesome! Should still be able to do pulling exercises and squats, but pushing seems like its out of the question for a while.

had an OK training session today. dips were still pretty shaky, just barely completed the work sets (with less than perfect form unfortunately). but an otherwise sucky training session was salvaged when i did some rack pulls. i never realized how fun those were. at least now i have some idea of how it feels to be doing deadlifts. can't wait to do them again! :D
@eshlow: with regard to the rack pulls, i was expecting it to hit both my hammies pretty hard. but for whatever reason only one of them felt fatigued. does this mean my form was wrong or something? i duno if it's worth noting but the hamstring that fatigued is tighter than the other one.

Yep, tighter one will generally start with more tension which increases activation and thus the work... thus more fatigue.
Loosen it up so you don't develop any imbalances...
Had my first lifting session since i deadlifted 455...so like 10 days. Way too long, i was going through withdrawal lol i think i'm addicted to the adrenaline rush/endorphin high of working out. Threw down 215x10 235x8 260x8 285x8 315x8 335x8 on squats today, i feel like powering through the last few reps at 335 with music/adrenaline is almost like taking steroids, i honestly dont think i should be able to get them and then i push through it somehow. Back didn't affect me at all from maxing out on deadlifts, so i hope its getting better. taking fish oil/glucosamine. Couldn't do bench or powercleans cuz of sprained wrist so i just did rows/pull ups + abs. Then destroyed my body with a 4x400m intervals. Combined with being sore from rugby and squatting, my legs have officially tapped out. Still have jelly legs 30 minutes after i finished.
Eshlow, got anything for fixin a sprained wrist/thumb?
There was a weightlifting camp last week, i was talking to one of the lifters who came back from it. They lifted 3 times a day on some days. :D I would like to go to it next year haha
btw decaf i have a hurt hand/wrist too, i just ice after workouts and taking advil right now
I love the gym. It makes me happy. For the last year I've been working out at home. Went from 210 to 160, then back up to 170 when I started hitting the weights. Only just 3 weeks ago because I was moving and the fitness stuff was in a box did I sign up at a gym. 200 bucks for 3 months is yucky, but oh my goodness it's so good to work out with other people, the positive energy is just amazing. I love the gym.
Yeah for wrist always focus on a lot of non-painful mobility work to get the joint moving a lot... helps with blood flow and tells the body that it's doing well so it heals faster.
Would heating an injured area be good? Or should icing be better? I mean not after the workout, just additional help with the healing process when resting.

Heat is fine IF:
~injury is chronic and you're not aggravating it by working out ~injury is to a muscle without edema/swelling ~generally, not within 4-5 days of injury incident (depends on how bad it is).

wut no its not.
I thought I had a copy of p90x's ab workout but my files are corrupted
If you're doing gomad you don't need to be supplementing protein. Just eat what you normally eat that's healthy... meat with vegetables/fruits/nuts/etc.
