I play support almost exclusively. Not because I'm some sort of altruistic being that seeks pleasure in helping others. I do it because I'm greedy as fuck and want to win, because I know other people can't play support to save their lives.

I also play Support because I like to win, but when dumbass carries start swearing at you for -insert something here-, I'm gonna tell them to shut the fuck up, and you bet your ass I'm gonna use the support card. Supports may be greedy tryhards but that doesn't mean they should be unappreciated.

WHAT THE FUCK does new players with less than 10 hours into dota2 doing in the fucking VERYHIGH bracket games? Seriously, the last 2 games of mine i got players who just brand new... And these are supposed to be top tier games as some others players actually has 2000-3000 hours invested in. First game: + Show Spoiler + ![]() ![]() http://dotabuff.com/matches/296459197 2nd game: + Show Spoiler + ![]() ![]() ![]() http://dotabuff.com/matches/296496779 Like... its not even party matchmaking bc in game 2, all the PL talked was chinese and the pudge keep asking him if he speak english. So in a sense, the dota2 matchmaking is failing miserably by ruining both veteran players experience and new players experience. I am seriously shock. You can notice how this is not well written bc im really.... out of words. I really dont know how to describe what im feeling right now: disappointed, bitter, anger, disbelief,.... And both of them are veryhigh games....I dont even...

The saddest part of all? The russian was actually decent AND spoke understandable english. I honestly feel bad that he ended up getting stuck with that duo along with me. Yes, the only Russian was the most useful player on my team. I honestly don't even know what to say about that...

According to Cyborgmatt it was fixed in a small patch a few days ago. My computer actually crashes at the player pick screen. As soon as I pick a hero, (even against bots!) there is a 50% chance my computer will just turn off (will happen multiple times in a row, or sometimes not at all, all evening.) It's a problem with my pc, not the game. Something to do with my memory or motherboard.. (buying a new one soon) but it means I can't actually play real games. Even if I reconnect within the usual 5 minutes, and even before the creeps have even spawned it means I have an abandon, likely get reported by everyone in the game and then I'm stuck in low priority. (Happened last week, came back, we still won the game, but I got nothing for it, other than being placed in low prio for next game.) So I haven't played any matchmaking games since

They go "stop feeding noob", while you're the only one warding, buying support items, and actually trying hard to win the game.

The smurf detection is pretty fucking good when it comes to that. Hours put into game matters absolutely as much as winrate and games played does, aka zero. It can be a veteran from dota 1, it can be account number 25 etc etc. You have no idea how much experience that person has. Just wanted to point that out, even thought this is the qq thread and people hate facts and all that. You also linked the same game twice on dotabuff.

Turns out I left allpick on so I just take my normal random and grab Batrider. Right, that guy they show in pro games a lot? Turns out that with about a year of nearly daily playing, I've only ever used batrider once. And it was a 2 minute abandon game. We had a pudge in mid so I thought I'd jungle, right? I've seen it work, stack a camp or two, get them all to run into the fire and loadsamoney. Turns out to be a little harder than imagined when LD wanted to jungle too (looked like he was going top), so I was more about running from the medium camp for dear life before it became about money. Eventually KotL starts complaining that he can't solo bottom for unknown reasons, and starts berating everyone's picks, setup, etc. Eventually I come to join him in his staring contest with drow and all 3 lanes start coming apart at the seams. At this point we're more or less goofing off waiting for the game to end while kotl is completely losing his mind. I know he personally told me to kill myself repeatedly, called pudge retarded for not "winning" mid vs OD, and something about generally not liking whatever happened top with lich. At one point, we're all sitting around the edge of the base seeing if we can hook someone when he comes on mic to start chanting and pinging "getbackgetbackgetbackgetbackgetbackgetbackgetbackletthemendletthemendletthemendletthemendletthemendletthemend" I don't even think I heard him stop for breath. At this point the other team was laughing about this too and he started spewing profanities at all of us and telling us to report him, doesn't matter since he's muted every day anyway. To try to describe our surprise would be futile. He then abandoned, came back in a few seconds later to spout more rage, DC'd, reconnected again to get a last word in, and then abandoned. I felt a bit guilty at first but it was hilarious how relaxed the 9 of us were to this one KotL set loose from a 98 minute-game map bug.

oh, sure, you didn't buy the courier, but you sacrificed your fun for the team, right? and sure you stopped buying wards around the 30 minute mark but it's the thought that counts. news flash, support isn't some altruistic thing you do to feel high and mighty while being ass-terrible at it. I say this cause every support on reddit seems to be one of these. Also, recruiting for a support is almost as frustrating as finding a mid. you get those people who're like "i play everything" when that actually means they have 135 games as pudge, 63 as riki and 221 as invoker and they just saw us recruiting and go "lol, how hard could support be? i'll learn as i go"

Just wanted to point that out, even thought this is the qq thread and people hate facts and all that. You also linked the same game twice on dotabuff. I fixed the link for game 1. I think its a bit more complicated than just what the replay entitled. Given game 1 for example, my mmr is pretty high but i know for sure that it shouldnt be any higher than Luminous who stack with Enternal Envy on a daily basis and make it to front page of watch tab. So due to a limited player pool, the game cant find appropriate opponent and decided to settle for a very new player for a lower team MMR for Lumi team. I happen to beat that team which immediately jump my MMR too high which results DotA2 getting noobs to balance my next game which was game 2. After these games, I continue losing(lowering my inflated MMR) and since then i get really good match with good players from both side: http://dotabuff.com/matches/296609525. Clearly what happened before my current losing streak was a case of 'out of bound' where a player MMR could be too far away from the server's norm and the MM started to behave differently. Often in time this is fixed by finding a stack 2, stack 4 with amplified MMR but given a strange time zone where the active accounts on designated server is low, things like this is bounded to appear. TLDR: the matchmaking doesnt handle cases at the very top and very bottom of the MMR scale good enough and needs to be fixed with exception.

Low VH is trash, not that much better than high. Why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh why do people still not get that there are no actual brackets. It was like that in SC II and it still is like that in DotA 2. A win that takes your games from "high" to "very high" does not do more for your MMR or the players you're matched against than any other random win. You get matched with people around your MMR - the average MMR in the game then determines what label the game gets. Being in very high is not a feat at all though. You can be super, super trash and play with one arm and still reach very high. I've had cliff jungling prophet players on page 3 games, which should be the top end of the MMR. I am dead serious when I say that an 80th percentile player in LoL or HoN should be able to reach 99,5th percentile in DotA.. The ladder is just so damned casual. Very high being the highest bracket is very misleading. There should be more brackets like, very low, low, normal. high, very high. At least. There should be at least 3-4 brackets above the "low very high" IMO. Or just make MMR visible.

The ranges are fine, it's like low Masters is very diferent from high Masters in SC2 or any other ranking system in a diferent game. Brackets need to be broad, you can't have 50 of them.
