It sucks though when your team picks no carry and you cant finish . It's a bit more complex than that. It's not as simple as picking a support hero, and playing support will cause you to win games. You winning games is mostly a factor of you playing better. Some people tend to find supports easier to play better, and by playing better, you enable your team to get more victories. I think, probably the biggest increase to my skill came not when I decided to stick to my support role (kotl really is OP ), but when I started realizing all the different ways you can win a game, as a support. If you have a carry who can potentially out-carry their entire team, or at least stand toe-to-toe, buying wards/flying and grabbing a mek at some point is really good, because you enable your carries to farm, and your mid to gank. I call this type of support "enabling" support. You can also shift to more of a "playmaker" role, if you don't trust your mid, or if they have a heavy carry line-up. This involved less buying wards, and more running around the map like a chicken with your head cut off, trying to force fights anyway possible where you will come out ahead. I also like the "deal-with-me-or-die" support role which is just pushing all lanes, and the "carry from behind", where you slowly build up carry items, becoming more and more effective as the game progresses. Having more ways to win a game underneath your belt is the most surefire way to win more (pub) games. This advice extends to carries and mid-laners, and all roles. My QQ for the day: Nyx assasin. Why does this hero even exists? Its sole purpose is to troll supports. I haven't been in a game with Nyx that I honestly thought was a good game, because he ruins everything. I hope he gets nerfed again... 0 cd invis with a huge nuke/stun combo.

Dark Seer, KotL, AM, Gyro and SF. AM + Gyro safelane, SF and DS offlane and KotL mid. That's what our AM insisted on despite me arguing that SF should have been mid. This guy just HAD to go with his friend Gyro and apparently "DS and KoTL together is a bad idea, two supports in one lane."

What hero would you suggest to develop my gameplay, im good at supporting, ok at initiators and bad at carrying? Furion, his potential global presence will force you to improve your game sense he is useful all game due to his pushing potential and can fill the late game carry role due to his ability to flash farm he's also a glass cannon pretty much all game so your micro should improve

we had a huge HUUUUUUUGE lead and nearly threw it away after losing team fight after team fight thankfully a maxed SF is fucking RRRAAAAAAAAPEEEEEE and then I noticed that I'm about to reach my win streak afraid to push the "find match" button now as for a good basic 'support' hero, guess you can't go wrong with Lich. Lina is also a really nice, simple support that can mid&initiate ganks, I love AA because he has one of the best ultis in the game and he's only really got '1' skill (aka his other two skills are sorta mediocre) so you can focus on using only his Q and Ulti

This means you are forced to being an effective member of the team, or your team has to be able to overcome the handicap you gave them. I suggest you vary your heroes and roles until you find a few roles you like. Some heroes are more versatile than others, and I like it when people trying to get better practice on those heroes. What is really the best way to get better, though, is to get a gameplan in your head about how you want to win, then get mad when it doesn't work. I propose three challenges to the dota 2 community to improve their breadth of gameplay: Challenge 1: Try to pick VS or CM, and gank 2 lanes before 3 minutes, putting your team ahead for the rest of the game. Maintain the lead until you win. Challenge 2: Defuse a strong carry starting to spiral out of control by leading team-ganks repeatedly on them Challenge 3: Push in a lane to racks the enemy team before 20 minutes, before the other team can assemble to try to stop you

First one as above. Second one Kunkka decides to go top with Troll. Between them they feed Luna about ten kills in fifteen minutes. GG. On the upside I did ok microing with Visage, I guess all that practicing with Meepo vs bots is paying off with my multitasking. Third one. QoP manages to feed the hell out of Pudge mid who then goes roaming. Huskar got hooked by Pudge when he had hardly any life and then bitched at me (on Lich) because I didn't frost armour him despite the fact he was going to die ANYWAY and doing so would probably have slowed me enough for their other team members to get me. Only person on the whole team with a positive K/D was Doom (who had been laning with me). Just no chance. Seriously, why are people SO BAD? Feeders, feeders everywhere. I wouldn't mind if they were dying on supports to save carries but they're not, they're just dying over and over and over.

Third one. QoP manages to feed the hell out of Pudge mid who then goes roaming. I've seen a lot of things in DOTA but I would never have imagined that happening. I take it nothing is impossible in that game. Literally nothing.

PL/KotL safe lane, Silencer mid and a Sand King/Lina lane. How the heck are you supposed to win against this? We hold till mid game and take their outer towers, but then ultra farmed PL happens. You guys want to defend? LOL KOTL BLAST AND PL ILLUSIONS.
