Higher you go, the more you will carry(You mixed up with low levels to balance the teams, jeez). Its actually really annoying that that happens without telling you. I support the majority of the time (usually the only way to guarantee wards, courier is more common). Suddenly finding you're the only person on the team with more than twenty wins and you're on a hard support whilst your counterpart on the opposing team is on a carry is very frustrating. -_- I think this way of choosing teams is a flawed way of doing it. Putting the two best players in your mmr group on each team is well and fine, but when one of those "bets players" picks support, and the other carry, its most likely going to be a complete walkover. And you never know if you are the one who is suppose to be the "best player" or someone else. really wish mmr was visible for this reason. I think it might even help with some of the flaming, OH he's our lowest mmr player let's not expect too much from him! I mean yeah there will still be flame but i still think net effect would be positive. Also sometimes when you feel like you are the only one in the team with something resembling a brain it would be really nice to see if your allies mmr actually are lower, it could help with rethinking if your way of playing is right after all. One thing I experienced in HoN was 'oh you're lowest MMR, you be support. Wtf you picked carry? What the fuck? flameflameflame' Well..yeah? I would too. I'm so fucking sick and tired of people just picking any random hero cause "i play like I want to", when its a 5 man teamgame. Just because you like to play riki does not mean we need that fourth carry. If you have the lowest mmr, you should probably pick support. You might even learn a thing or two.
That is funny to read because I'll keep it short: people's supporting skill level is not on par with their carry skill level.
What i saw from hon is that people stacked up and tryharding for a period of time -> high mmr -> so he can pick carry/mid all day. These guys are all like Testie, afk farming 24/7 and ignoring whatever the team doing. And obviously these players cant even play support, they have no clue how to make space for the carry to farm and if you missed 1/2 creeps on the lane suddenly he said: 'yo you suck i am taking last hit from now on'. HoN games are cancerous because most of these 'elite' players all have this 'auto-blame' gene:
The mid lost they will automatically flame 'why no ward', they even did it when there IS ward on the map and wards were always on. Otherwise they will blame your support's poor items 'yo why no items' while forgetting how that support feed all his regen items to that carry just so he can stay on lane safely blah blah. I am just lazy to type more because ANYONE who truly played support with his full effort all have experienced the same shit.
Simply put, most people think that carry = last hitting creeps while ignoring everything happening on the map and support = sitting at the back derping doing nothing/ leeching your carry exp and adding in the factor of hon has this retarded mmr and record system (k/d/a, warding gives you some points etc), I never look back at my 3months of hon days.

Game starts: For some random reason Mirana takes hardlane despite a Darkseer in our team. Huskar goes easylane. So Darkseer goes to Jungle. 15 secs silence "XXX" picks Natures Prophet --> "jungle".
/sigh
Then NP decided to die twice on lvl 1.. Once when he wanted to kill the hard stack at lvl 1 but met some forest Trolls... Second time when he tried the same in the enemy jungle and the enemy Qop realized it and killed him immediately again.
/doublesigh
The game btw. ended up like this after like 10 minutes: DS easylane solo (after stacking the big camp 4 times getting arcboots). Huskar Jungle (after he managed to get some lvls on lane because he did not plan for jungle) Prophet --> No one gave a fuck anymore but Huskar could use his treants to tank for him ^^. Mirana Top (somehow went fine against Maiden/FVoid). Bloodseeker Mid (vs Qop).
O_o :D.

Games vs Bots don't count towards your wins, but do give you battle exp.

I always wait to pick last in pub games, and my team chose omni, centaur, drow and nix - pretty decent comp as far as pubs go, even though omni wasn't planning on playing support. No wants to play mid, so I choose lanaya. Enemy team is rocking storm spirit, naga, cristal maiden, bounty hunter and ancient appararition. Everything looking good.
Except drow thinks silence sucks because it doesn't deal damage, centaur takes some good 10 minutes to figure out that bounty hunter can WW and has a reliable crit, and omni believes that, since he's a support, he can die 3 times in 10 minutes and it'll all be fine. I'm doing alright, since the enemy team apparently can't LH for shit, but we're down 1-9 10 minutes into the game.

13 minutes in, and we're behind an abismal score of 2-15. Note that drow isn't even level six yet...

At 26 minutes into the game, through our epic engagement skills, we manage to narrow the gap to 9-33 (lulz). Drow hasn't landed a single silence the whole game. Nyx and CW were able to steal a few kills from me, so everything's looking dandy. Right...

BUT YOU GOTTA BELIEVE IN IT BROS. That's all it takes to pull off the biggest comeback in friggin' scrub-pub HISTORY.

Love Lanaya, you can do so much with her even from behind. Nice story.

I want to pull my hair out....pub teams don't know how to finish games. Twice in the last two days I've lost games where we had a substantial lead because rather than push towers, force trades and pad our lead...my whole team fans out to chase random ganks and gets picked off one by one for ten minutes until the other team has come back.
|
Game is broken right now. Any team that picks Drow auto-wins unless the Drow is terrible or the Drow's opponents are somehow substantially higher skilled.

Just play captain's mode. She's too OP to be in there right now.
|
pub too OP.... group up and smoke -> go lane farm @_@....

God damn it, this is just stupid and ridiculous.
Queue pops, mode is CM. Bans and picks look decent, I go mid as qop and face Puck. I harass the hell out of him, get my bottle and keep him under tower. I grab the 2 min rune, but like 10 seconds before the 4 min one pops Puck just blindly orbs towards the top rune spawn and guess what? Fucking invis rune spawns there! Lane gets turned around completely. Meanwhile our undy/lina/veno "trilane" is getting destroyed by a kotl/ursa/jakiro so I go help them out with some ganks. Thankfully, our PL is free farming against a Magnus and manages to get a couple of kills on him.
Puck remains mid, but 10 minutes later hell breaks loose when he gets his fucking blink and JUST WON'T DIE. Caught out of position? LOL NOPE phase shift and blink! Oh! you blinked after me? FLY AWAY MY ORB, FLY. Ursa gets a Shadowblade up and guess what? No dust/sentries until it's too late. Next up PL gets ganked again and again due to no vision (all wards were placed to help the trilane). He ends up with Diffusal 1, treads and Vlads at 30 minutes.
Turns out the other 4 team mates of mine are, you guessed it, russians.
Long story short, solo MM is just chance. Sometimes you get awesome team mates that can even carry you if you are having a bad moment. Sometimes you get the opposite, people so dumb you wonder how come they are still alive and didn't die to some stupid stuff. Rest of the time games are actually a decent and enjoyable challenge where everyone does their best.
Off to play some more BH, to piss the other team off by simply existing.

This and a hundred times this. I was playing Warlock in this game and I did a hell of a job keeping our carries alive and winning those teamfights. We are totally dominating, when our team decided to go into full retard mode. Instead of finnishing everyone wants to farm for that special item, and end up getting caught doing it. In the end I am getting more and more useless in teamfights as they now pretty much are oneshotting me. My heals have gone to shit, and my ult isn't all that no more. After 3 failed teamfights were some smartass decided to stay in a different lane. I try one last time to get out team to go together but Drow decides to go on his own while we wait to group up. This is the second time I forfit a game, and this Even when we are ahead in kills and towers. I really hope they lost after that, especially Drow who spent the most of the game taunting the other team.
|
I hate normal MMR. Currently just over 60% of my games I get shafted with the retard team (when in pugs) vs 40% of the time they have retarded teams. There are no close games in normal MMR.
Why is my winrate above 50%? Because when I play with high/very high mmr people, I currently win more than I lose.
Why do I keep getting shafted with the fucktards who tower dive over and over to feed the enemy carry then complain that I'm not ganking when I just as they were typing was ganking a lane the moment the first night hit and got a double kill?
Fuck oierjaoiwrjaiowjraw

Fucking hate it when my team continue to farm not realizing that the opposing team is also getting stronger as time passes by.

How do you like this drow aura? >_<

Three times in row matched with stack of 4 rusbads.
|
Russians make it incredibly difficult to not hate them. I have only US West and East checked and sometimes I will go EU if with certain people. I am slar and got first blood, had 7 kills before first death, and was generally carrying team. I was way ahead of the other team and we were pretty good and set to win... And then the dc's started... the in match fighting... and finally the rage dc from silencer.
Now, that was bad but there was still potential to win 4v5 since I was pretty strong still. Well, slark (the russian) decides he can now solo their team. So repeatedly rushes to their base and some how dies over... and over... and over... It is already 4v5 so if he is dead, fighting 3v5 is quite difficult. So, every time he rushes in and dies, we have to fall back and wait for his ass (while I farm for bb). He does this to the point where their team gets pretty strong and I no longer can fight them... We lose because of a bloody moron and a complete and utter scrub russian that has made me despise playing with them.
|
Every single time I get to play a carry, my team goes full retard and decide to pick SLARK, SNIPER AND GYROCOPTER and then they proceed to feed over 30 kills to a drow ranger. It doesn't matter that I won my lane really hard ... it just didn't matter. I almost had a 10 min bfury with PA and the fucking sniper decides to come to my lane and starts trying to out last hit me thus pushing the lane and getting me killed. FUCK.

Two possibilities exist: Either the matchmaking is based on random numbers or there is no matchmaking system at all. Both are equally terrifying damaging to one's health.

Oh, the matchmaking is quite easy actually: http://www.playdota.com/forums/showthread.php?t=764406
From what Ive gathered from other threads in PlayDotA.
First it checks whether Na'Vi or any other major competitive team is matchmaking. If possible you will be matched vs them along with 4 players with under 10 wins.
If such arrangement cannot be made then it will randomly grab 4 Russians or 4 Brazillians (depends on server) and put them on your team.
If all else fails then you will be given an average team from those matchmaking, however it ensures you will play a 5-man stack.
